Chapter 220 - 161: Could It Be That You Want Me to Do That Kind of Thing?
Lin Jiang went to the bathroom to wash up. He Siyao’s body tensed up as if an electric current had shot through her.
In the bathroom, Lin Jiang brushed his teeth, thinking about what had just happened.
’He Siyao told the vice president about this... Could it be that he’s the problem?’
’Or did someone else find out by accident?’
When Lin Jiang came out after washing up, he saw He Siyao sitting at the foot of the bed.
"What’s this about?"
"You’re staying tonight. Don’t you want me to give you a massage?"
"When did I say I wanted you to give me a massage?"
"Don’t tell me you want me to do... that? I... I’ve never done that before..."
Lin Jiang scratched his head.
’This kind of club... it’s really no place for a decent person.’
’A perfectly sweet and innocent school beauty’s mind has been completely warped.’
"I just meant I’m staying here to sleep. Didn’t you see I booked a business suite? There are two beds. We’ll each take one. You sleep in yours, I’ll sleep in mine."
He Siyao’s face flushed red, her expression awkward and uneasy.
"I’m sorry, I was overthinking it."
"Stop apologizing all the time. Just treat me like you used to—like a classmate."
Lin Jiang yawned. Not treating He Siyao like a stranger, he simply took off his clothes and went to sleep.
Quietly getting to her feet, He Siyao bit her lip and turned off the room’s lights.
She tiptoed back to her own bed and lay down, still fully clothed.
...
The next morning, when Lin Jiang woke up, he saw He Siyao sitting by the bed. Her hair was a little messy, and she wasn’t doing anything, just sitting there quietly.
He glanced at his watch; it was already past nine in the morning.
"What time did you get up?"
"I got up at seven-thirty."
"If you were up that early, why didn’t you go wash up?"
"I was afraid I’d make a sound and disturb your sleep."
"Alright, go wash up."
"Mm."
He Siyao took her bag and went into the bathroom. When she came out again, she looked much better.
Lin Jiang quickly washed up as well, then left with He Siyao.
"Where are we going?" He Siyao asked once they were in the car.
"I opened a noodle shop in Berkeley Mall. We’ll go there for breakfast."
"Pull over, quick. I’m not going."
"Why not? Do you have something else to do?"
"Yeah... I’m not going."
Lin Jiang was getting impatient. "Why are you being so difficult? If you have something to do, say so. If not, say so. Can you just be more direct?"
"You’re a boss now, and I just... give massages for a living. I don’t want to embarrass you."
"The people at my noodle shop are either illiterate or have done jail time. None of them can recognize all 26 letters of the alphabet. If you go, you’ll be considered highly-educated. What’s there to be embarrassed about?"
He Siyao didn’t dare say another word, afraid that Lin Jiang would start swearing at her if she did.
They drove to the noodle shop. Seeing Lin Jiang bring another pretty girl back, the people there were already used to it.
"Scan the QR code yourself. Tell me what you want to eat."
Scanning the code wasn’t for her to pay.
The noodle shop had eight kinds of noodles; it was mainly so she could see the options.
"Oh, okay."
He Siyao took out her phone, and Lin Jiang noticed one of the corners was smashed.
A crack ran across the screen, looking as if it had split the phone in two.
She tapped it several times in a row, but only half of it ever lit up.
"I can’t scan the code. Just order something for me... the cheapest one is fine," He Siyao said, lowering her head and clutching her phone in embarrassment.
"Alright."
Lin Jiang went back to the counter and ordered two bowls of plain noodles. He also brought over two small side dishes and two glasses of sour plum juice, and with that, breakfast was served.
"What are your plans for later?"
"We start work at two in the afternoon," He Siyao said, glancing at the wall clock.
"After we eat, I can stay and help you out for a bit."
"That’s not necessary. You should use the time to get some rest."
Soon, the noodles were served.
"Go on, try it. The food here is pretty good."
"Mm."
Picking up her chopsticks, He Siyao tried a mouthful.
"It’s really delicious."
"If you like it, then eat up. We were classmates, after all. From now on, whenever you come here to eat, it’s on me. It’ll save you a little money."
"No, no, it’s okay," He Siyao said hurriedly. "We get staff meals."
Lin Jiang slurped his noodles in big mouthfuls without looking at He Siyao.
"You should treat yourself once in a while. Don’t act like such a stranger."
"Thank you... for not looking down on me even though you know what line of work I’m in."
"Why would I look down on you? Your line of work is a beacon of light in this world."
He gave her a thumbs-up as he slurped his noodles.
"Your massages are seriously amazing. No one else even comes close. I’ll definitely be coming back to you."
"Mm-hm."
Just then, Li Yuanyuan walked over, holding a white bag.
"Brother Jiang, I bought the stuff. The receipt and everything are inside."
"Okay, you can get back to work."
After Li Yuanyuan left, Lin Jiang handed the bag to He Siyao.
"Your phone’s broken. I bought you a new one. Use this for now."
Seeing the Apple logo on the bag, He Siyao hurriedly refused.
"This is too expensive, I can’t accept it! My income at the club is okay. I’ll just go buy one myself later."
"I already bought it. If you don’t use it, it’ll just be tossed aside to collect dust," Lin Jiang said while sipping his soup.
"Your phone broke because of me, so it’s only fair I get you a new one. Just take it and use it. Stop making such a fuss."
Afraid that Lin Jiang’s next words would be curses, He Siyao didn’t dare refuse.
"Thank you."
He Siyao took the phone. She discovered that inside the bag, there wasn’t just the phone, but also seven different cases and a stack of tempered glass screen protectors.
Lin Jiang had told Li Yuanyuan to buy all of it.
