Chapter 14: Passing 3 Levels
"That killing rod is really merciless," Fatty muttered to himself as he walked out of the camp office.
He had just arrived at the camp and already faced a harsh reprimand, leaving Fatty feeling a bit upset. Did the camp leader's face belong to a curtain? One moment it's rolled up, the next it's let down. This Special Reconnaissance Battalion, does this guy mean we have to do the Special Soldier's job as well? This meal isn't easy to swallow.
Walking up to his shabby mecha, he looked up and saw a muscular, short Lieutenant with a tiger's back and a bear's waist striding towards him with a smile.
"You're the new Deputy Company Commander, Lieutenant Tian, right? Welcome! I'm Rashid, the Commander of the First Company," the burly short man extended his muscular arm, grabbed Fatty's hand, and shook it hard.
If not for the months of training in the gravity room, Fatty would have been shaken to pieces by this guy.
Fatty pulled out his hand and saluted, his face full of smiles as he said, "Thank you. I'm new here, so please feel free to give me instructions, I guarantee obedience."
Seeing Fatty's unchanged expression and nonchalant demeanor, Rashid quietly admired him. He laughed loudly, patted Fatty's shoulder, and said, "Here, we're brothers who live and die together. Instructions? Forget it. You got a reprimand from the camp leader, right? Haha."
Rashid was a straightforward person. Without waiting for Fatty to speak, he grabbed his hand and started walking, saying, "Don't take it to heart, the camp leader is a simple-minded person. His only trick is the killing rod. Everyone who arrives here gets a reprimand from him. Come on, I'll show you around the company headquarters first, get familiar with the place."
Having no choice, Fatty left his mecha behind and followed Rashid, listening to him chatter away, "We've been hearing that our company would get a new Deputy Commander who'd earned a first-class merit, and we've all been looking forward to it. Finally, you're here. There's going to be a battle soon. Damn, the Imperial Army's Special Forces have been particularly unruly lately, they wiped out one of our forward logistics posts, killing and injuring over two hundred people, including civilian staff and guards. They're getting too bold. Now, large numbers of troops on both sides are gathering here. Once we break through the passage west of Kato, we can split the Imperial Army into two. The higher-ups have ordered us to scout the enemy's situation thoroughly, and if possible, destroy a couple of their command centers to dampen their spirits."
