A short distance away, the grand throne stood there, floating seamlessly in the thin air.

They both turned toward the throne. Their eyes remained entirely still as they calmed down. Their expressions became firm as they spoke the exact same words at the very same time.

The booming voice that reverberated through the space paused, as if the very throne itself was confused by their unexpected answer.

They stood there silently without replying as the throne waited to see if their decision would change, which was a common occurrence among the people who desperately wanted to achieve power.

But the silence remained steady. The reply never came, as they stood there silently alongside their finalized decision.

Both Alen and Lyris’s faces turned blank for a minute. They glanced at each other before quickly looking away as a bright redness caught their cheeks.

"No! We are just... just companions!"

Alen stammered as a sudden flush caught his face. Lyris was no different, as she actively glared at the shitty throne.

{Haha... Don’t blame me, kids, I am just curious.... By the way, your choices have been accepted. You have passed the trial and can leave this place...}

Alen blinked. He looked at the shitty throne with deep confusion and a frown.

"Wait—what are you saying?"

Just as its words fell, several loud chimes of the system rang through their brains.

Just as the system words registered, Alen’s body began to float freely in the vast white space. Right above him, the space tore open, and rays of brilliant silver light fell from the fracture, descending directly onto his figure. A silver glow on his skin expanded as his whole figure illuminated the surrounding area. His eyes turned pitch-black as a concentric ring with a cross-shaped pattern appeared within his pupils, and the legendary Black Star manifested inside his body.

A bright silver glow emitted from the pitch-black shade from one of the arm of the faint, seven-pointed Star marking his palm.

He felt like he was ascending from a human to a god, as every cell in his body eagerly absorbed the warm glow of light.

Just as he was going into a state of panic, his disappointment vanished as his focus again caught on the flashing screen.

The pillar of bright light slowly thinned out as his body floated gracefully down. He felt like his skin had become much softer and more delicate. All of the rough calluses and cuts on his arms from constant battles vanished, and even his face became more handsome than he already was. His muscles tightened; his overall body remained the same size, but his compact strength had increased twofold.

Just as he was calming his racing mind, his eyes caught Lyris’s figure. She was also achieving her own awakening as a massive golden pillar of light tore through the heavens and fell directly onto her. The entire white space was beautifully illuminated by her radiant figure, signaling that yet another brilliant star had been awakened inside the Ascension Realm.
