Chapter 292: Logan Vs The Demon
The ground began to split apart as the lightning-fire sphere went deeper. It pressed against the demon girl’s body, tearing apart her flesh and bones. Yet no scream left the demon girl’s mouth.
Boooom!
The ground caved in deeper as cracks spread.
Booooom!
Finally, the sphere blasted with a loud bang. Chunks of shattered ground rose into the sky, dust covering the whole place. A tremor spread.
Logan leapt back and stood at the edge of the crater.
Whoooosh!
Whoooosh!
Lamia and Renata landed beside Logan. "Is she dead?" Renata asked, her eyes fixated on the chaos ahead.
"Nope. She isn’t that easy to kill."
Lamia’s eyes rolled back. "Even for you, Master? Or are you just slacking off, considering you were supposed to marry her?"
"Hah! You believed her? Those are some fake accusations."
"You mean you weren’t betrothed to her?"
"I was. But those claims about my father promising my hand for a pearl, those are just made-up stories to guilt-trip me. They were the ones who had dissolved the marriage."
"They? You mean she and her parents?" Lamia asked with wide eyes.
"Nope. She and the other four who were supposed to marry me."
His words landed like a nuclear bomb.
"What? Five? You were supposed to marry five demons?" Renata asked in a bewildered tone.
"Yeah. Dark past. I know."
Just as they were talking, the ground started to shake. Everyone else had stopped fighting at the moment. All eyes were on Logan and the demon girl who was still nowhere to be seen. Those who were away were using sight orbs, orbs used to observe anything anywhere, to watch the fight.
A figure burst out from the ground and shot upward into the sky, a crimson aura trailing behind her. After soaring for almost a hundred meters into the sky, the figure stopped and looked at Logan. "You arrogant bastard! Just because you awakened the bloodline, you think you are unbeatable now? Don’t forget how you used to follow us."
"Even if I want to, I can’t forget how foolish I was back then. I mistook predators for protectors. But those days are in the past. You will have to pay for what you have done."
Saying that, Logan leaned forward a little. The ground beneath his foot cracked. And then... He shot upward like a shooting star.
The demon girl also shifted her body and shot downward, dark crimson aura trailing behind her.
Logan drew his hand back, energy swirling around it. The demon girl brought out a dagger, its blade curved like a snake. The tip glistened against the light
Everyone watched with their mouths hanging open.
Whoooosh!
Closing the distance, the demon girl thrust her dagger forward.
Logan still didn’t bring out a weapon and threw a punch. His fist cut through the air.
Penggg!
The tip of the dagger snapped. The demon’s hand twisted to the side. She tried to throw another punch, but Logan’s fist found her face first.
A brutal punch landed on the demon girl’s face before the fist began to sink in.
Crrrk!
Teeth broke. Blood sprayed.
And then...
Whoooosh!
The demon’s body was flung upward like a broken kite. She tried to move, tried to stop, but her body wouldn’t budge.
No one moved on the ground. Not because they were afraid but because they were intimidated. The amount of energy both of them were releasing was just too much.
Everyone could tell now. Logan was a Cultivation God just like the demon girl, the middle-aged man, and the primordial dragon. But the demon girl’s power far exceeded a Cultivation God realm cultivator. Her raw power was wild and violent. Her energy felt like calamity itself.
But that wasn’t the strange thing. What baffled everyone was Logan. Even before an existence like the demon girl, Logan’s face still showed no hint of worry or fear. There was no fluctuation, as if everything was under control. And his strength. It was way above what could be explained with mere words. But unlike the demon girl, it was smooth and unending.
After flying for several hundred meters, the demon’s body finally stopped. Her face scowled. She gritted her teeth as her body started to morph again.
The scales hardened. The claws and fangs sharpened. The horns lengthened and twisted farther. Her crimson wings became larger and more eerie.
She looked at Logan and swung her right hand. No sword, no dagger. But a powerful crimson arc shot downward.
The arc cut through the air mercilessly and bolted toward Logan at lightning speed. Just before the arc could land on him, Logan twisted his body a little.
Whoooooosh!
The arc brushed past him, severing a few strands of air and grazing his clothes.
Everyone below dispersed hurriedly. Others turned and started running in the distance.
Puchi!
A slick sound echoed. The ground didn’t shake. Dust didn’t rise. Yet a powerful fissure materialized in the ground, smoke curling up leisurely.
The fissure looked so smooth that it felt like a piece of cake cut by a knife.
The demon girl had no intention of giving Logan any chance to rest.
She swung her arm in quick succession.
Whoooosh!
Whoooosh!
Whooosh!
Crimson arcs whistled through the air. Logan dodged each one with ease.
Just as the demon girl was about to swing her arm for the eleventh time, Logan moved.
His body remained just where it was, though.
"Huh!" The demon girl chuckled. "You think the same trick will work twice?" She spun around and swung her arm.
Logan’s body appeared where she had just swung her arm.
Whoooooosh!
The arm swept by, going through him, yet touched nothing except the air.
"Wh..." Words had just started to form... Her brows had just started to rise in shock when...
Baaaam!
A knee drove from the side to her waist. Her body bent like a bow and whistled through the air.
Before she could even cross twenty meters, a figure appeared before her. Clasping his palms, he swung downward.
Baaaam!
The demon’s body blasted through the air like a falling meteor and cratered into the ground.
The earth trembled. Birds resting in trees flew hundreds of meters away. An icy surface on a body of water shattered instantly as a wave erupted upward.
