Chapter 505 - 504: What They Built
Chapter 505: Chapter 504: What They Built
Location:Seven Peaks — Gate, Command CenterDate/Time:TC1856.05.31 (Morning to Evening)
Naida came back with dust on her boots and an alliance in her pocket.
She walked through the gate at mid-morning — no sky-surfing blade, no formation relay, just walking. The way she’d left. The Confederacy didn’t trust technology they hadn’t built, and Naida had spent two weeks remembering what it felt like to live by that principle.
Raven met her at the gate. Not ceremony — just two women who had been at war together long enough that the absence of one changed the weight of the other’s days.
"How bad?" Raven asked.
"Not bad at all." Naida adjusted the strap of a leather satchel that hadn’t been hers when she left. Given to her. A Confederacy gesture that meant more than its material worth. "They want in. Full alliance. Mutual defense. Shared intelligence. Joint operations if it comes to that."
"Conditions?"
"Three. First: no absorption. The Confederacy maintains its own governance, its own territory, its own identity. Alliance, not annexation. They join the war as partners, not subordinates."
"Agreed before you left."
"Second: technology transfer. They want the detection arrays, the cold corridor protocols, and the formation-based communication relays. Not as gifts — as shared development. Their engineers modify alongside ours. They understand what they’re using."
"Reasonable."
"Third." Naida paused. The pause of someone delivering the condition that mattered most. "Raven comes to them. In person. Walks their territory. Eats their food. Sleeps under their roof. Not as a sect leader visiting allies — as a guest accepting hospitality. They want to see you without the mountain behind you."
Raven was quiet for a moment. The gate was open. The morning light caught the living architecture above them — the guardian tree’s canopy filtering amber and gold across the path.
"When?"
"Before the season turns. They understand there’s a war. They’re not asking for a vacation. They’re asking for a day. Maybe two. Enough to look you in the eye and decide that the woman matches the reputation."
"I’ll go."
"I know. That’s what I told them."

The briefing was at noon. Smaller circle — Raven, Kairos, Thorne, Taron, Naida. The full leadership would get the operational summary later. This was the intelligence layer.
Naida laid out what she’d learned. Not just the alliance terms — the Confederacy itself. What she’d seen walking their settlements for two weeks. What had changed since the detection arrays went in.
