Chapter 1688 - 1686: Not Optimistic
"Peter?" Two days had almost passed, and surprisingly, not a single person from Peter Brown’s family had come by. Those who had always seemed to be on his side only went as far as making a phone call to chat for a bit, completely avoiding any mention of following him.
Seeing this, Sadie Smith looked at Peter Brown, her face full of indignation.
"What’s wrong?" Peter Brown had been deep in thought about his project and looked up at Sadie Smith.
"Peter, isn’t it infuriating? Ning and Florida, who were promoted by you, now they don’t even dare to show up at your door. Is venturing into entrepreneurship really that horrifying?"
With a laugh, Peter Brown said, "It’s normal to feel that way. Who would leave the comfort of the city to start a business in the countryside unless they were out of their mind?"
Sadie Smith curiously asked, "If you knew this was the case, why didn’t you choose to develop in the city? If you had gone to the provincial capital, perhaps a few people might have followed."
"Choices in life are very important, but having determination is even more crucial. My next step will be awesome, and why should I let some people benefit for nothing?"
"So, your goal isn’t for them to follow you?" It was as if Sadie Smith had figured out Peter Brown’s thoughts.
"Exactly. After all, I’m someone who values old connections, and they are still technically my people. I would feel guilty if I didn’t let them know about any future benefits, but I just wanted to see their choices. This is better; once my project takes off, it’ll be easier to deal with them. It was their choice. Besides, they are just people from the branch office. My development will involve high-tech projects, which they will likely find hard to keep up with."
Sadie Smith looked at Peter Brown speechlessly, "And yet, you waited here for two days!"
"I gave them the opportunity; if they couldn’t seize it, that’s on them. After today, we’ll be on different paths, with no connection to them anymore!"
