Chapter 1666 - 164: Involvement
Three days later, Henry Carter once again convened a briefing meeting.
The mood of this meeting was markedly different from the last, with everyone appearing heavily burdened.
Matthew Clarkson swore, "Damn it, what’s all this trouble about? With the province’s sudden crackdown, a good number of officials have been taken down, ruining all our connections!"
"Exactly. I’d just finally sorted out some relationships, and now they’re all messed up. I have no idea how things will develop next."
Henry Carter too was sighing incessantly.
Azrael Richardson lamented, "Why did the province have to make such a big fuss this time?"
Henry Carter said, "What I know is that two bigwigs really went at it with each other, toe to toe, and ended up exposing things that shouldn’t have been brought up, causing those below to suffer the consequences!"
Matthew Clarkson added, "The scope of this debacle is too large. Numerous relationships have to be reestablished, not only that, but I’ve heard that a lot of things have also been exposed about the bidding process. The superiors are demanding transparency, greatly reducing the room for personal manipulation in the process."
Everyone sat there, sighing, while Peter Brown pretended to be engrossed and stayed silent.
But no one knew more than Peter Brown. In fact, he was the orchestrator of everything. Having secretly provided ample ammunition to both sides, the conflict had escalated, and now the bigwigs in the background were feeling the heat themselves. Busy trying to extinguish the flames, they’d ended up severing some of their own connections.
"Peter Brown, how’s your project coming along?" inquired Henry Carter casually.
