Bruce Richardson, being a trusted follower of the County High Officials, easily brought Peter Brown into the high official’s office.
Peter knew about the situation in the county as well. The high official was named Reynard Johnson, a man parachuted in from The Higher-Ups. Not much was known about him, but everyone refrained from provoking him upon considering his background.
Originally, Bruce Richardson wasn’t a particularly capable person, but precisely because he sided with Reynard Johnson early on, he managed to secure a leadership position in the town.
When Peter met Reynard Johnson, he immediately noticed an air of nobility about him. With his discernment, Peter understood that this man must have a powerful backing, probably here for a stint of gilding.
"Boss, I’ve come to report on our work," Bruce said, displaying a great deal of respect.
Reynard Johnson didn’t have many subordinates, and Bruce was a top Leader who could be shown off, so Reynard naturally valued him, smiled, and said, "The situation in your town is a bit difficult indeed. Do you have any requests?"
"Boss, I’ve come to bring a gift today."
Bruce then placed a bottle of wine on Reynard Johnson’s desk with a smile on his face.
Reynard Johnson was momentarily stunned, looking at Bruce and then at the wine bottle.
Peter was amused; he had given the wine to Bruce as a gift, precisely to get the county leaders to help promote it.
"Bruce Richardson, what are you doing?" Reynard Johnson’s expression turned stern.
