Chapter 653 - 625: Part 2
Wan Xianzhong trembled with rage. "You all... and Father! Xian’Er is your granddaughter."
Wan Xianlin smiled and shook his head. "It is precisely because Xian’Er is my granddaughter that I, her grandfather, understand her better than you do. I may not have spoiled her as much as you, but do you truly know what she wants? Don’t forget, I have raised two generations of our family."
Patting Wan Xianzhong’s shoulder, Wan Xianlin turned and said, "Let them be. Besides, Xian’Er and the Saint Heir haven’t seen each other in three years. They must have so much to talk about. How could you bear to be the third wheel? You and I are not young anymore. This is the world of the young now. Trust me, by tomorrow, Xian’Er will be back to her old self."
"Well now, I must get back to see my adorable great-granddaughter. It’s a rare treat to have the little one staying the night, so I’d best not waste any time."
With that, wearing a benevolent expression, Wan Xianlin’s figure gradually receded into the distance, finally vanishing over the horizon. The other six Elders of the Ding Palace disappeared along with him.
With his hands clasped behind his back, Wan Xianzhong gazed down below for a long, long time. Only after everyone had left the plaza did he finally let out a long sigh. ’He’s right, this is the world of the young now, and Xian’Er is no longer a child. Besides, Xiao Ying’er can finally see her father. I should be happy for them. Ah, well. I suppose I should show some magnanimity as her father-in-law. Otherwise, that little rascal will look down on me.’
As he mused, Wan Xianzhong’s figure also dissipated into the wind...
At that very moment, two entwined figures suddenly appeared in the sky, heading toward the Immortal Shadow Hall. It was none other than Mu Chen and Wan Xian’Er, whom he had swept away.
"Agh! Let me go, you bastard!"
"I won’t."
"Are you going to let me go?!"
"No!"
"Fine!"
Hissing the word "Fine," Wan Xian’Er suddenly tore off her veil, grabbed Mu Chen’s shoulder, and bit down hard!
SQUISH!
A faint tearing sound came from Mu Chen’s shoulder. Wan Xian’Er felt a warmth between her teeth as a metallic, sweet taste flooded her mouth. Startled, she released him. A crimson, crescent-shaped mark appeared on his Profound Celestial Robe. Her pupils contracted, and a sharp pain shot through her heart. Dazed, she asked, "Why didn’t you use Primordial Power to protect your body?"
Mu Chen chuckled. "If I had used Primordial Power to protect myself, Xian’Er’s teeth would have been in danger."
"You! Let me go!"
"No!"
Before Wan Xian’Er could say another word, the arm Mu Chen had wrapped around her waist suddenly tightened, pulling her body even closer to his. He gently stroked her long hair, buried his face in its strands, and said softly, "I’m afraid that if I let you go... Xian’Er will disappear again."
"I’m afraid that if I let you go, Xian’Er will disappear again..."
"...disappear again..."
"...disappear..."
...
A cool tear slipped from her eye, tracing a path down her pale cheek and over her neck... At his words, scenes from three years ago flooded her mind like a torrent of returning memories.
’His smile, his pain, his every move—it was all so clear. In the end, was I the one who was wrong? Did I underestimate him? Was I the one who created this chasm between us? If I had just told him my identity back then, before I left, would everything have been different?’
Lost in her memories, her hands subconsciously tightened around Mu Chen’s back, and she buried her face deep in his chest, nuzzling him gently.
"Mu Chen... I’m sorry."
Her words were like a soft murmur, a quiet whisper, yet they made Mu Chen’s embrace grow tighter, deeper. After that, they fell into a comfortable silence. Wan Xian’Er simply let him hold her, savoring the rhythm of their heartbeats until her emotions settled.
Just then, Mu Chen’s speed instantly increased. His figure shot downward, and in the blink of an eye, he plunged into the Immortal Shadow Hall. As he entered, the massive doors of the hall boomed shut behind them. The entire room fell into darkness, but then the Elemental Crystal Lamp Pillars activated on their own. In an instant, the surroundings were bathed in a soft, gentle glow.
Completely ignoring their surroundings, Mu Chen gently placed Wan Xian’Er on the tidy bed. His Ice Extreme Demon Pupils gazed intently at her tear-streaked cheeks, his expression exceptionally gentle.
’This was the first time he had looked at Wan Xian’Er so intently, so closely. He had to admit she was beautiful—so beautiful it inspired reverence rather than a desire for possession. If he hadn’t lost his mind back then, they probably would have never crossed paths again.’
Being watched by Mu Chen like this, Wan Xian’Er didn’t shy away in the slightest. Gazing at the man she had longed for day and night, her breathing gradually quickened, and a blush crept onto her face.
Tilting her head slightly, Wan Xian’Er asked, her cheeks flushed, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
Mu Chen was startled by her words, only then realizing their faces were merely a finger’s breadth apart. He quickly averted his gaze, but just as he was about to raise his head, Wan Xian’Er suddenly threw her arms around his neck. Her cheeks and the rims of her eyes were red as she said to him, "If you want to look, then look properly. I only asked why you were staring, I never told you to look away!"
As she spoke, while Mu Chen was still stunned, Wan Xian’Er suddenly pushed herself up and forcefully kissed his lips. In that instant, the chasm of the past three years shattered and was stitched back together.
Woken from his stupor by her words, Mu Chen closed his eyes and leaned down, pressing over Wan Xian’Er. He cupped her face in his hand as they savored each other’s long-missed, yet familiar, scent.
The kiss deepened, and gradually, Mu Chen’s breathing grew more ragged, his movements more filled with desire. Just as his hand slipped inside the collar of her robes, Wan Xian’Er suddenly pushed him away. She was panting softly, her beautiful eyes shy and hazy with passion.
Pushed away by Wan Xian’Er, Mu Chen’s expression fell with a hint of disappointment. But just as he felt that pang of loss, Wan Xian’Er’s hand went to her own collar. Slowly, she undid the first button and said shyly, "I’ll do it myself."
The constraints of her robes slowly fell away, completely exposing her fair, rounded shoulders to Mu Chen’s eyes. Her jet-black hair cascaded behind her. Her beautiful eyes darted about, filled with shyness and nervousness, yet she fought through her bashfulness to pull off most of her red dress.
She gave Mu Chen a look filled with endless charm, her beauty enough to outshine the moon and shame the flowers. Wan Xian’Er lowered her gaze and gave a small smile. "Xian’Er will help you."
As she finished speaking, Wan Xian’Er slowly leaned into Mu Chen’s embrace and awkwardly began to untie the sash at his waist. She was like a true wife, doing what a wife ought to do.
BOOM!
His mind roared. There were no longer any barriers between them. The emotions they had both suppressed for three long years erupted completely.
This day was destined to be a joyous and unforgettable one...
