Kraugel replied calmly,
"I am his student. I want to meet him and see how much I have improved."
Asmophel observed him for a moment, then nodded slightly.
"You are strong," he said, "but Captain Piaro is not here."
"…Where is he?" Kraugel asked.
"I can't tell you," Asmophel replied calmly.
Kraugel frowned.
Why isn't my reputation working on him? he thought.
He had built a high reputation, and most NPCs usually shared information with him easily. But once again, he was being denied—just like before with Piaro.
His gaze shifted back to Asmophel, who was working in the fields.
"You also look strong," Kraugel said.
"I am," Asmophel replied simply.
Kraugel nodded.
"…How strong compared to Piaro?" he asked.
Asmophel answered without hesitation,
"I am quite weak compared to him."
Kraugel studied him for a moment, then spoke,
"Then fight me."
Asmophel stopped what he was doing and looked at him.
"…What do you want, kid?" he said. "Why are you provoking me out of nowhere?"
"Oh, you are here. No wonder I felt a familiar presence."
Just as Asmophel was about to respond, Fenrir suddenly arrived, dressed in simple farmer attire. He looked at Kraugel.
"It's nice to meet you too, Fenrir," Kraugel said.
Fenrir nodded.
"You know him?" Asmophel asked, relaxing slightly.
"Yes," Fenrir replied. "He trained with us for some time. Although he's not as good as the Blood King, he has the potential to reach that level."
Asmophel raised his eyebrow, now looking at Kraugel in a new light. He knew just how absurdly powerful the king he serve is.
"Still," Fenrir added, "he is very far behind. At least a hundred years too early to reach that level."
Kraugel looked at him.
"…I wonder if I can fight your king," he said.
Fenrir looked at him and grinned.
"Feeling competitive, kid? But you can't even defeat me, let alone that monster. It's better if you don't dream beyond your capabilities."
Kraugel didn't argue.
He simply nodded.
Kraugel stood there quietly for a moment.
"…Then I'll start with you," he said.
Fenrir's grin widened.
"…Good."
Asmophel stepped back slightly, giving them space.
The air around them changed.
Kraugel drew his sword slowly. His posture became steady, focused.
Fenrir stretched his shoulders once and stepped forward.
"No need to hold back," Fenrir said.
Kraugel nodded.
"I won't."
For a moment—
Neither of them moved.
Then—
Kraugel stepped forward.
Fast.
His sword cut through the air toward Fenrir.
Clang—!
Fenrir blocked it easily with his bare hand, stopping the blade without effort.
"…Too slow."
He pushed the sword aside and moved.
BOOM—!
His fist shot forward.
Kraugel reacted quickly and raised his sword to block.
Clang—!
The impact pushed him back several steps, his feet dragging across the ground.
He stabilized himself immediately.
Then moved again.
This time—
Faster.
His sword blurred as multiple strikes came in quick succession.
Clang—! Clang—! Clang—!
Fenrir blocked each one calmly, his expression relaxed.
"…Better."
Kraugel didn't stop.
He changed angles.
Changed timing.
Each attack became sharper.
But—
Fenrir still read everything.
He stepped in.
A simple punch—
BOOM—!
Kraugel was forced back again, sliding across the ground.
He stopped, breathing slightly heavier.
Fenrir looked at him.
"…You've improved."
Kraugel tightened his grip on his sword.
"…Again."
Fenrir smiled.
"…Come."
Kraugel moved first.
His body blurred forward, faster than before.
SHHH—!
A sharp slash cut toward Fenrir's neck.
Fenrir tilted his head slightly—
The blade passed just inches away.
"…Faster."
Before Kraugel could recover—
Fenrir stepped in.
BOOM—!
A punch aimed straight at his chest.
Kraugel twisted his body mid-motion, barely avoiding it, but the shockwave still hit him.
He slid back, boots digging into the ground.
No pause.
He stepped in again.
This time—
His sword moved in a flowing pattern.
Clang—! Clang—! Clang—!
Three rapid strikes aimed at different angles—neck, side, and leg.
Fenrir raised his arm and blocked the first.
Shifted his body and avoided the second.
Then caught the third strike with his hand.
"…Good control."
Kraugel didn't pull back.
He released the sword with one hand and threw a punch.
Fenrir leaned slightly—
The fist missed.
At the same moment—
Fenrir countered.
A short-range elbow strike—
BOOM—!
It hit Kraugel's guard and pushed him back hard.
The ground cracked beneath his feet.
Kraugel slid several meters before stopping.
His breathing grew heavier.
"Hahaha, it seems you're no longer just relying on your sword," Fenrir laughed as he saw Kraugel continue fighting even after losing his weapon.
"You guys taught me, after all," Kraugel replied.
Fenrir smiled.
"That's true."
He looked at him again.
"Still, I wonder if you can do more than this," Fenrir said with a laugh as his hand elongated, forming blood-red, blade-like claws.
Kraugel pulled out another sword from his inventory.
Both of them looked at each other.
Then—
They rushed at each other.
They closed the distance instantly.
Clang—!
Kraugel's sword met Fenrir's claw. Sparks burst out as metal and blood-forged blades collided.
Fenrir didn't slow down.
His other hand slashed forward—
SHHH—!
Kraugel twisted his body and avoided it by a small margin. The claw cut through the air and left deep marks on the ground behind him.
Kraugel stepped in.
Clang—! Clang—!
Two fast strikes aimed at Fenrir's shoulder and side.
Fenrir blocked one with his claw and let the second slide past, his body shifting just enough to avoid a clean hit.
"…Better."
He moved forward.
Faster than before.
BOOM—!
A claw strike came straight at Kraugel's chest.
Kraugel raised his sword—
Clang—!
The impact pushed him back hard. His arms trembled slightly from the force.
He stepped back, then moved again.
His sword blurred as he attacked continuously.
Clang—! Clang—! Clang—!
Fenrir met every strike head-on now. His claws moved like blades, deflecting and cutting through the attacks.
A sudden shift—
Fenrir disappeared from Kraugel's front.
Kraugel's eyes sharpened.
He turned—
Too late.
SHHH—!
A claw cut across his side.
Blood spilled.
Kraugel jumped back immediately, widening the distance.
His breathing became heavier, but his grip didn't loosen.
Fenrir stood still, licking a bit of blood from his claw.
"…You're not bad."
