Chapter 457 - 307: Caste Tenacity (Part 2)
...
Fu Jin stroked his Magic Staff, silently wracking his brain to recall if he had ever said anything to offend the Lord of High Cliff Castle.
...
Masha’s cherry-red lips parted in a small "o." The stunned look on her face was particularly innocent and lovely.
...
"That damn kid is as violent as ever!" Mandela said, rubbing his bald head and smacking his lips.
...
Everyone from the Holy Sith Kingdom stared blankly, first at the Iron Man that had been reduced to scrap metal, then at the towering Debei man.
’Why was the invincible Iron Man turned into scrap metal with a single punch? Why does this human possess such immense strength? Why did we ever pick a fight with him in the first place?’ They desperately searched their minds for answers.
The simple, pure display of brute force delivered a breathtaking visual shock. Everyone fell silent; even the Knights screaming on the ground shut their mouths. They just kept crawling away, trying to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the Lord.
The other four Iron Men halted. It wasn’t because they had gained consciousness, but because the Alchemists couldn’t bear to see their last four precious units suffer the same fate.
"Stop!"
Seizing the opportunity, Mandela emerged from Gonda City. Just over a hundred fully armed Red Swordsmen marched forward in neat formations, their quick steps echoing as they advanced.
The Star Moon Knight Order, clad in Silver Moon Star Plate Armor, followed close behind. Leading them was the same middle-aged noble who had lost all semblance of aristocratic decorum earlier.
The Star Moon Knight Order was an army under the King’s direct command. They were typically responsible for maintaining order in Gonda. Their actual strength was debatable, but their equipment was undeniably and excessively luxurious.
"Deploy the Sai Dai Golden Man! Casius!" Just as the situation seemed about to stabilize, an exasperated roar erupted from the Holy Sith Kingdom’s convoy. A reasonably handsome young man opened a carriage window, revealing his face.
Mandela’s eyebrows knitted together like a copper lock, but it couldn’t contain his frustration and anger.
"My dear Prince of the Holy Sith Kingdom, Your Highness Toman." He suppressed his anger and tried to placate the prince. "This conflict is just a misunderstanding! We cannot allow it to escalate into a bloody incident. It would affect the diplomatic relations between our two kingdoms!"
"You damn Debei Guy, are you threatening me?" Toman cursed furiously.
"Mandela, let him come," Levi sneered, the corner of his mouth twitching. "I’d love to see just how tough this ’Golden Man’ of his is, and how many of my sword strikes it can take!"
He snapped his fingers. A Giant Sword, wreathed in Dragon Flame, materialized out of thin air and embedded itself in the open ground. Its length alone was comparable to the Iron Men from before.
Standing beneath it felt like being a mantis staring up at a butcher’s cleaver.
Even from a great distance, everyone could feel the scorching heat on their cheeks, as if their hair was about to singe.
Everyone immediately stopped in their tracks.
"Boss, want me to burn these guys to a crisp?" A Red Dragon Soul emerged from the Dragon Crystal in the sword’s hilt. It instantly absorbed the Dragon Flame from the blade, forming a fiery dragon dozens of blades long. It hovered in the sky, looking down disdainfully at the humans below.
Although it no longer had a body, it could still control the Dragon Flame within the Dragon Crystal. And as the Dragon Crystal of a Legendary Red Dragon, the Elemental Power it contained was unimaginable.
This Dragon Flame was hot enough to melt Fine Steel!
"It’s a Legendary Magic Weapon! And it’s embedded with a Dragon Crystal! But why is there a Dragon Soul inside it?" one of the Alchemists exclaimed.
It wasn’t that he recognized the weapon. Rather, the Magic Power it radiated was as vast as an ocean. Just sitting there, it blazed like a sun, impossible to ignore.
The power of a Legendary Weapon, much like that of Legendary Powerhouses, was enough to make one tremble just by looking at it. Its mere presence there was proof enough of everything.
"Oh? So there is someone here who knows what they’re looking at."
"That’s right. This Legendary Weapon was a gift to me, your Lord, from a Legendary Balrog Flame Demon. The blade was forged from the flesh and bone of the Legendary Red Dragon ’Crimson Wings,’ and it was embedded with its Dragon Crystal, giving it the ability to control Dragon Flame." The Lord explained the sword’s origin nonchalantly, his hands clasped behind his back.
"The souls it has claimed could populate a small town." Levi leaned against Digen’s Howl, eyeing the crowd. "And I don’t mind making that town a little more crowded!"
"You audacious peasant! I am the Prince of the Holy Sith Kingdom! You should apologize to me, compensate me for my Fasting Gold Iron Man, and pay my Knights’ medical fees!"
It was as if this Prince’s brain had been eaten by a Goblin; he was furiously trying to assign blame.
"What kind of idiot are you? You started a fight on our Debei territory for no reason, and my men are all seriously injured. You should be the one compensating us for medical fees and emotional distress! Oh, and for site maintenance costs!" the Lord said, rolling his eyes, not holding back in the slightest.
The dozens of burly men from High Cliff Castle had been standing there perfectly fine, calm and composed without a scratch on them. But the moment they heard that, a whole swath of them instantly fell to the ground, curling up and rolling around, wailing in agony.
They looked as miserable as could be, making one wonder what kind of inhuman beating these Barbarians had suffered.
Toman, who had grown up in the Royal Palace, had never witnessed such a shameless display. He was utterly shocked. "You... you people..."
"You what?" the Lord retorted, giving him a vicious look. "You can’t win a fight, and you won’t back down. What is it you want?"
He flicked his fist, sending a spray of someone else’s blood onto the Prince’s sharply defined face.
Toman touched his handsome face in disbelief. Seeing the blood on his fingers, his face flushed crimson. Humiliated and enraged, he jumped down from the carriage and began pulling off his white glove to throw at the Lord. "You filthy peasant, I challenge you to a duel!"
This was the customary way for nobles to initiate a duel, even to this day. If the challenged party caught the thrown glove, it signified their acceptance.
Fortunately, the words had barely left his mouth before his terrified subordinates scrambled to restrain him and haul him back.
The man had destroyed an Iron Man with a single punch. Anyone with eyes could see that the two sides were not even in the same league. Rushing into a duel now would be like a mantis trying to stop a chariot; being effortlessly crushed into paste was the only possible outcome.
This left the eagerly expectant Lord looking quite disappointed.
Although for him, a distinguished Lion Hunter Knight and the Lord of High Cliff Castle, to bully a useless Prince felt a bit like picking on the weak, there was no doubt it would still boost his reputation a little.
After all, every little bit helps.
"Enough! This farce ends now!"
More soldiers swarmed in from the distance, led by a handsome young man in a set of gilded and embroidered Plate Armor. He certainly looked the part.
"Toman, I will have the Minister of Finance compensate you for your Iron Man. The injured Knights will be attended to by the Court Physicians." After speaking to the foolish prince, the newcomer turned to the Lord of High Cliff Castle.
"And Lord Levi, please refrain from fanning the flames any further. You and your men may enter the city first. I will take full responsibility for this farce from here on out."
"And you are?" the Lord asked.
"I am Bedoyel, the Prince of Debei!" he replied, his tone stiff as he emphasized the fact.
...
Rumor had it that the King of Debei had black hair, yet this Prince possessed a head of dazzling golden hair.
Although Levi had heard the Queen was also a blonde, it was a known fact that the Kings of the Debei Kingdom, starting from the very first, had all been black-haired without exception.
He had once idly chatted with Leiden about this, and Leiden’s answer had been "resilience of the bloodline."
That put a question mark over whether this Prince was truly the Prince of Debei.
But none of that had anything to do with the Lord right now. He was currently lining up with his band of brutes to enter the city, shooting the breeze to kill time.
"I hear our dear King established the Ten Thousand Flower Garden, yet he still has no heirs. The reason for that is truly a mystery, isn’t it?"
High Cliff Castle was not exactly in the right regarding this whole affair of entering the city. Having been given a graceful way out, the Lord naturally took it.
