Chapter 456 - 307: Caste Tenacity
The Barbarians, having reached the final tier of the currently unlocked troop path, were giving the world a true taste of just how powerful the system’s top-tier soldiers could be.
While their Power was unparalleled, their Martial Arts were as refined as a master’s. Even when outnumbered, they would automatically form up when charging, advancing and retreating with discipline even in a chaotic brawl.
The Holy Sith Kingdom’s Guard Corps were all hand-picked Combat Qi Great Swordsmen, burly men standing two *ren* tall. After all, one needed a good physique to wield a Greatsword.
But facing the three-*ren*-tall Barbarians, they looked like adolescents. Taking a punch heavier than a stone millstone and managing to stay on their feet was enough to be called a tough man, but then they would just be knocked down by the next barrage of fists.
The Barbarians, on the other hand, took four or five punches and kicks without so much as a grunt.
After all, compared to their boss’s iron fists, these punches were as feeble as an infant’s.
Both sides were still holding back, unwilling to cause any deaths. So despite the chaotic scene and constant howls of pain, the injuries were minor; with half a month’s rest, they would all be back on their feet.
In just a short time, a whole swath of the Holy Sith Kingdom’s Guard Knights were already on the ground, groaning in pain.
"Quick, have the Iron Men join in!"
Seeing their imminent defeat, the enemy officer gave the urgent command.
Several Alchemists in grey-hooded robes began to touch the Rings on their hands, chanting a string of strange syllables.
When the chanting ended, those thumb-ring-style Rings erupted with a blinding golden light, as dazzling as the sun. It shot straight into the bodies of the Ironmen who had been standing quietly at the front, shouldering giant flagpoles.
As the golden light faded, the dark eyes of five seven-to-eight-*ren*-tall Black Iron Giants suddenly shot out beams of gold. They plunged their banners into the ground and charged into the crowd with heavy strides.
Zat roared and smashed his iron fists into the abdomen of one with the force of a thunderclap.
A deafening CLANG! rang out, and everyone instinctively covered their ears.
In that instant, the Barbarian clutched his reddened fist, a look of sheer shock on his face. "What the hell is this thing? How is it so hard?"
He was a strapping warrior over three *ren* tall and weighing nearly 1,500 pounds. His muscles were as perfect as a sculpture, without a single ounce of excess flesh. After being enhanced so many times by the Gift of the War God, his Power was unquestionable—enough to kill a Knight in full Plate Armor with a single punch.
Yet now, his punch had only made his opponent stagger back five steps, leaving nothing but a fist-shaped dent in its dark metal abdomen.
What he didn’t know was that the Alchemists were even more stunned than he was. As the creators of these Iron Men, no one knew better than them just how powerful this type of Alchemy Creation was.
’Each one weighs forty to fifty thousand pounds! Their steps alone can make the earth tremble, and a full-speed charge is enough to smash through the gates of a small town. And yet one was just knocked back five steps by a being of flesh and blood.’
"Stop!"
Just then, a great shout echoed from the distance. A bald, burly man with a tattooed arm and a Broken Sword on his back rushed over. It was none other than Mandela, commander of the Lion Heart Red Swordsmen.
He was an expert who had cultivated his Combat Qi to the Master Level. The levels of Combat Qi, from lowest to highest, were Entry-level, Mastered, Profound, Master, and Sword Saint. The Master Level was equivalent to an Epic Level expert.
In a world where Legendary was the pinnacle of combat strength, being an Epic Level expert was in itself a symbol of illustrious status.
Not to mention, he also bore the Blood Sword Demon Pattern and wielded the powerful Magic Weapon, the Demon Fighting Red Blood Sword. His strength ranked among the very top of all Epic experts.
A man of his status was more than qualified to stop this conflict.
But while he might be qualified, whether or not anyone would listen was another matter entirely.
Let alone the Holy Sith Kingdom, even the Lord himself didn’t stop.
’It’s not that I’ve lost my senses,’ he thought. ’I just understand the principle: "if you want peace, prepare for war." Since a fight has already started, the only way to bring about peace is to beat them so badly they won’t forget it.’
"All of you, move! Let me handle this!"
Those Ironmen were truly worthy of their reputation as the Magical Creatures the Holy Sith Kingdom prided itself on, instantly tying the Barbarians’ hands. Of course, the Barbarians could still deal with them, given enough time.
But the Lord couldn’t wait to test the mettle of these things himself.
He sank his Qi, let out a low roar, and threw a simple, unadorned straight punch that smashed with thunderous force right into one of the Ironman’s navels.
A deafening GONG! exploded through the air. Everyone clutched their ears in pain and dropped to the ground.
The Black Iron Giant’s navel instantly caved in, leaving a terrifying, clearly visible indentation.
The seven-to-eight-*ren*-tall Iron Man emitted a mournful CRUNCH. The golden light in its eyes flickered erratically, and its multi-ton body was sent flying sideways, crashing into the walls of Gonda.
The impact only chipped a few fragments from the hard city wall before the massive form slowly slid down, slumping to the ground with its head bowed.
The faces of these metal giants were strange. Their curly hair was sculpted as one piece with their heads. They had deep-set, tiger-like eyes, high-bridged noses, and prominent cheekbones. It was impossible to tell if their expression was a smile or a serious frown; one could only describe it as placid.
Mysterious and profound Mercury Secret Text floated across the surface of their bodies. Clearly, this text formed a special Alchemy Magic Array that served as the power source for their every move.
But now, the Mercury Secret Text was faint and flickering, as if it might dissipate at any moment. Thick smoke billowed from the Iron Man’s body. It mustered all its remaining strength to lift a single finger, only for it to fall limply back down.
