“Much different,” Emelia replied. “You’ll have to fight other players.”

Gladwyn frowned, but Beck looked confident.

“I thought it might come to that,” Gladwyn said.

“Do you know who we’ll fight?” Adam asked her.

She didn’t look at him as she said, “I only know who Adam will be facing. Grenouille normally doesn’t make it this far, and I’m not familiar with Princess Buttercup’s match-up, but I think he usually wins. However, it’s best I explain the various types of players you’ll encounter at this point, so you’re as prepared as possible.”

“You really don’t have to use our nicknames,” Gladwyn commented.

“Then start winning the bets,” she told him. “Actually, let’s make it so the winner gets to also reset their nickname on top of picking the loser’s.”

“Fine by me,” Beck said immediately.
