Chapter 115 - 168 (2)

"All demons will die. I have no need for information from a mere footsoldier." Incus then eviscerated the demon with lightning speed.

With labored breathing, the generals took a kneel to Incus.

"...T-Thank you your highness, we would have died if it wasn’t for you."

Looking around, there were two more demons who had the same appearance as the one that Incus had killed.

"What happened here, tell me." Incus snapped her fingers, catching the attention of the mages who stood in front of the army of soldiers.

"If anyone has the ability to heal, you better hurry up and come here now!" Incus commanded.

At her word, multiple cloaked individuals placed their wands and staffs over the injured generals.

"Healing light!" They all said in unison.

Multiple barriers of transparent light, stacked on top of each other, and within seconds, the generals had been fully healed.

"Follow me, there’s more who need your services." Incus flicked her head, gesturing for them to follow her.

"Kacon, head inside the cave." I ordered.

Inside, all of our injuries had been healed as the mages stacked healing magic on top of one another.

The fatigue left my body.

Standing around in a circle, the most important generals of all of the kingdoms who had agreed to join the mission had their weapons sheathed.

The each of them had exuded an intense aura that clashed against each other, the air was tense and suffocating.

"How much of our soldiers have arrived?" Asked a general with a giant iron staff that resembled a club, "We’ve spent too much time battling already and it isn’t even the main event."

"Don’t worry." Incus stepped forward, "During our journey in the tunnel, I’ve ordered multiple mages to draw a teleportation circle in the tunnel and here. Of course."

"I see, that’s a good plan but why couldn’t we have done that much sooner?" Another general asked, with blades that resembled a pair of scissors.

"The falling knights served as distractions so that the mages who have landed would have enough leeway to draw the circle–"

"You dare use our precious men as bait!" A general shouted in anger.

"It was a necessary action that needed to happen. But fret not, our army should be being summoned soon."

Just as she finished her sentence, a flash of bright light came from outside the cave, and the sound of murmurs and iron clattering faintly filled the air.

"Well, would you look at that?" Incus stepped outside, stabbing her blade into the ground as more knights and mages were being summoned.

"I will only say this once!" Incus shouted, her voice booming, "We will continue with the plan that has been instructed to you multiple times!"

Huh, what plan is she talking about?

Was this just some offscreen event that was glossed over?

I’ve followed Incus everyday and nothing about this plan has been talked about unless I forgot about it.

Looking around, the knights and mages shouted in unison:

"Yes, hero!"

Turning her head around to look at us, Incus opened her mouth after a brief pause as a gentle smile was painted on her face.

"...Well then, let’s get going."

After a few minutes, all of the soldiers had been summoned and a mage stood next to Incus with a compass spell.

"The demon king is that way." The mage pointed, "It would have been impossible to navigate this place if we didn’t have a chip of the demon king’s horn to point us to his direction."

I see, so that’s how it works.

Standing in the middle, Incus was surrounded by knights and mages who acted as barriers for Incus as we marched forward.

As we kept marching, multiple demons were trying to attack us from the air but the mages had prepared in advance and fortified a magic barrier spell.

Not only that but they had countered by launching a calculated spell that was perfect to defeat the demon.

For example, wind magic to throw a flying demon’s trajectory followed up with a different element depending on whether it had fur or not.

From the distance, multiple pillars with black soot oozing down from the holes started boiling with a pop, and what seemed to be the shadow demons from back then started to appear.

Screeching, the shadows lunged towards us.

Shit!

These things were impossible to beat–!

Suddenly, multiple beams of light flashed through the air like bullets from a machine gun that belonged to a war ship aimed at the shadows.

Being completely eviscerated, the demons had dispersed.

In the next moment, the type of demons had shifted to different kind.

With wings on their back and a grotesquely muscular body, demons flew towards us.

With a roar, they collided with the army, wiping out chunks of soldiers.

Jumping to the front, multiple generals pulled out their weapons and started to engage in combat.

Since it was far away and the soldiers holding banners were covering the way, I could only make out fragments of their battle.

A woman with a club-like staff was using light magic, using her staff as a melee weapon as to a long range.

There was an explosion of intense aura that covered her.

Was it some kind of enhancement? If so then it must be really powerful if it allows someone to maneuver that quickly, and deal such powerful blows on a demon.

It wasn’t before too long when the general had finished off all of the brute demons.

Continuing our march, there were more demons headed our way.

It seems that they’ve understood that launching those brutes had severe effects, as they were being pummeled into our defenses without a second thought.

The mages had put up a large barrier and counterfired with a barrage of attack spells.

At first it seemed that the strategy worked, however in the next moment there was a demon who was floating in the sky with royalty looking clothes with a large cape that covered a portion of the sky.
