Chapter 111 - 167
Rushing to aid Incus, lay the walls, I shouted:
"Hurry up and make haste! These walls will protect us from smaller demons, and any protection will be beneficial!"
Nodding, everyone started lifting up the intricate cut up pieces of rubble.
As I continued stocking bricks on top of bricks, the tips of my fingers were slowly being scratched.
With a loud roar, a demon was running straight towards us, the demon had sharp horns as it ran on all fours.
Grabbing Vertere by the collar, I pulled him towards me.
Blocking the demon, it slammed me to the ground.
"Uurgh..!" I groaned, trying my best to not get crushed.
"Ring!" Alleus pleaded, drawing out her blade.
But before she could slash at the demon, one of the generals who were laying down bricks had beaten her to the chase.
With an upwards, circular slash. The demon was severed in half, its organs spattering on my face.
Standing up, I spat.
Some of it got into my mouth, how disgusting.
Glancing over at Incus, she had carved out a cave in a cliff.
"If there are any injured generals and healers, place them here!" Incus shouted.
With loud shrieking noises, everyone looked up.
There were multiple winged demons circling not just us but the people who were trying to get down.
Suddenly, the same assassin looking guy from earlier jumped up and threw his dagger which multiplied into groups of tens.
After killing the flying demons above us, he left one unscathed and made it fly towards the tunnel which we jumped out of.
Maneuvering in the sky, he slayed the demons one by one.
He paused in front of the army.
I think he told them that they could jump now, since there were multiple people in cloaks that looked similar to Vertere’s.
With wind wrapping around them, their descent had sped up before slowing down when they reached the bottom.
"Hero Incus... there’s a hoard of demons approaching from the west. We’ve been spotted." Said one of the generals with a shattered sword, being supported by another who eventually collapsed.
Rushing them into the cave, Incus summoned one of her hero swords.
She had summoned the fire hero sword.
"Everyone prepare for combat!" Incus ordered, her voice resonated loudly enough to not drown in the roars on the demons.
Running west, I raised my blade.
The ground rumbled, as a sea of demons with spear-like arms screeched.
Widening her stance, Incus pulled back her sword and swung horizontally.
"Excaliburn!"
With an explosion of flame, the demons were engulfed in a blaze.
The intense heat of the fire might have not been enough to incinerate them into ashes, but the impact was strong enough to kill the demons on the front to mid rear.
With a ground shaking stomp, a giant demon had crushed the hoard of demons that remained.
Readjusting her blade, Incus swung upwards.
"Excaliburn!"
An arc of flame shot upwards, pushing the giant back, making it fall on another giant.
The giant which Incus had pushed back was fighting another demon with a similar height with an enraged roar.
Looking at Incus, her face dimmed.
Was it because she didn’t have enough strength to push back the demon, or was it because she was expending a lot of her energy?
Damn it, this isn’t good.
Should I worry about her not having enough strength to defeat the demon king, or is the author going to find a way for her to still defeat the demon king?
Ah, this is so frustrating.
No matter what I do, my life is in the hands of the author.
Glancing over at the tunnel, a waterfall of people started falling from the sky.
The mages who were elevating themselves in the air, slowed their fall just before they landed on the ground.
Turning around, there were a few generals who had followed Incus to slay demons.
"How many are stationed at the temp base?" Incus asked.
"There are currently about eight stationed there. Fourteen of which are currently in battle against the demons, holding them off until all of our forces have arrived." One of the generals replied.
"The three of you go and assist those who are descending, I will support you from the rear..!"
With Incus’ words, the generals bowed before sprinting towards the falling soldiers.
"Kacon! Joka!" The two of them looked at me, "Guard the rear, Alleus and I will take the front! Vertere and Acro will support us from the middle!"
"You got it!" Joka nodded.
Kacon grunted in agreement.
Lifting up his wand, Vertere began chanting:
"Strengthen and hasten all me and my allies, enhancement!"
A surge of strength as my body felt lighter engulfed me.
"It’s just basic enhancements, but it should be enough to benefit a slight boost!" Vertere squinted, the strides of his legs were swift enough to catch up with the rest of us.
Because there were a lot of demons in our way, the rate of which Incus ran had slowed down considerably.
"Ice shot!" Vertere casted, and a shard of ice flew past my face that hit a demon.
Looking at the demon, it was slowly being encapsulated by ice.
Parrying a demon’s slash that was aimed at my face, Alleus stabbed its neck, which I followed up by piercing its chest before pushing the blade downwards.
There was still a considerable distance between us and falling soldiers.
The generals had gone further to the front, lessening the amount of demons we’d have to encounter.
But that was only the front, our rear and sides had multiple.
A few giants had noticed as well.
Shit.
Out of nowhere, a dog like demon jumped over us.
With swift movements, the demon dog had climbed the giant dead dragon’s ribs.
Thankfully the assassin general was still patrolling in the air, and engaged in combat against it.
I couldn’t see it properly because they looked like specks of dust in the air, but their battle looked intense.
