Chapter 373: Reinforcement
The wind flowed around Seth with a controlled precision, allowing him to dispel at least half of the wind resistance.
Which in turn allowed him to harness a bit more than twice the speed he was supposed to be able to travel.
A technique born from his will flow abundance allowing him to influence the world around him on a much deeper and less restricted level.
Though he could use a Dimensional Strider to make his speed even faster, he dared not do it as the burden of will was exerting more pressure on his mind by the minute.
And expending will in such enormous quantities would only add to the strain of his mind.
As he was rapidly approaching his mental limits soon, he didn’t want to speed up the process even further.
It was a shame he even had to expend any at all outside suppressing the weapon spirit and the divine energy flow.
But this entity was already moving so fast that if Seth didn’t actively reduce the air resistance around him he wouldn’t be able to hold the distance between them which was only just growing.
But also rapidly slowing...
Seth’s expression turned ugly, how much stronger could an entity summoned by a shackled-grade evolver get?
This was ridiculous, even he couldn’t boast to be this capable back when he was at the shackled rank.
He could feel the presence of the demonic bunny growing even more concentrated as it reformed behind him.
Seth frowned, glancing at the creature for a split second.
Before whipping his head forward again, his senses focused on the blustering mass of energy towering in the distance.
His eyes narrowed, he just had to get to the boss, while this entity seemed invincible, one couldn’t forget it was a mindless beast.
Its consciousness was nothing but a sea of erupting fury. As long as there was a stronger being around, its focus would shift to the greatest threat that invoked its fury.
Seth’s plan was simple, he was going to use all the help he could get for the battle that was to come.
He couldn’t comprehend how much stronger an Abyssal Zone Guardian would be but he could guess it would be ridiculous.
Fortunately he was currently basically a furnace of overwhelming divine energy enough to counter the opponent.
But unfortunately he couldn’t say for how long that would continue to be, he would soon have to dismiss the divine weapon and when that happened the divine essence would dissolve instantly.
His hair whipped, like silver streaks, as his arms swung and his feet light and nimble like the wind zipped even further forward.
The beast dragging relentlessly hot on his heels...
Somewhere behind, Uriel led his crew to face a group of defiled, the group captain engaging with vigor.
Taking the chance to farm as much stats as possible, while their soldiers trailed behind as they fought for their lives...
At the same instant on the other end, Elaine, Brandon and Jack stood in a circle.
Curious soldiers gathered behind them, as one of them, Brandon, huffed and heaved, short of breath, blood leaking from three of his orifices.
"Brandon? What happened!" Elaine asked worriedly, reaching forward to help him up on impulse.
Allowing himself to be helped up, he blinked his bloody, sore eyes, wheezing, he informed, "Seth is in trouble!"
His words caused a mix of emotions to flash in Elaine’s and Jack’s eyes, relief and worry.
Relief that it seemed he was fine and made it out of the sea alive, and concern for his safety.
Before either of them could inquire further, Brandon rose by himself, wincing as he squinted into the distance.
"We won’t be able to move being held down by the soldiers; they will only slow us down."
His two teammates instantly grasped the meaning behind his words.
One of them would have to stay back and lead the soldiers while the remaining two set out to help Seth.
The options were clear, Seth couldn’t stay back; he was the one who knew where they were headed.
So it was left between Elaine and Jack...
And before Jack could speak, Elaine spoke up. "I will stay back."
As she spoke she glanced at Brandon then looked away, a flicker crossing her face, she truly couldn’t trust herself to be alone with Brandon, not for the wrong reasons.
But she simply wouldn’t be able to keep their earlier conversation out of her head while in his presence.
In order to function efficiently, more logically and less emotionally, the best option was separating which conveniently occurred right on time.
Brandon stared at her for a second, nodded, then turned to Jack, "It’s me and yourself then..."
Pausing for a bit, his eyebrows furrowed as he recalled the repulsive sight he had witnessed, if only glancing at it from afar could inflict that much damage mentally.
One could only imagine what sort of atrocious damage it could deal when close.
Brandon glanced deeply at Jack, wearing a grim expression, "And just for a heads-up, no matter how strong you imagine the threat to be, just know it will be worse."
His words rang cold and deep, worse? For Brandon to be this serious and warn so intensely, that threat truly had to be exceedingly dangerous.
At least Brandon had to have perceived it to be.
Steeling his mind, Jack grunted in affirmation, ghoulish black energy billowing from his frame.
Brandon nodded, "Good, and when we move we have to put our all into speed..."
"Speed," Jack repeated, his eyes shifting down to glance at a flickering class skill in the corner of his sight.
"I have speed, I just hope you can keep up." Jack grunted.
Brandon shrugged, "As long as you don’t dawdle, we move now..." pausing, he turned to Elaine.
"I’ll focus on searching for survivors." She declared before Brandon could even say anything.
He nodded wearing a faint smile, causing Elaine to look away, her cheeks heating up for a moment.
Both he and Jack glanced at one another and nodded.
The two needed no more communication, and before the soldiers watching could undertake what was happening next, the two vanished.
Kicking up a burst of wind in their wake...
Brandon summoned a flaming fox, which enlarged on summon, growing to the size of a bull, and he landed on his pet companion’s back.
He patted the fox by the neck at which the beast burst into a flaming trail, galloping straight into the dense forestry of dense abyssal force.
In here the debuff effects of the abyssal essence nearly doubled, but Brandon barely noticed, focusing on maintaining his speed.
Trailing right beside him, was a 9-foot-tall figure zipping through space just as fast.
Jack tapped into his class skill and manifested the siege titan manifestation, though there was only so much he could access due to how low the class skill level was.
Regardless the two moved at speeds that claimed five times beyond sound, rushing to reinforce their friends and face an abomination.
