Chapter 368: Summon
Right before their eyes, Seth and the pulsating mass of plasma vanished from the atmosphere. Uriel felt the abrupt shift in spatial currents and sighed...
At this point, what was it that Seth wasn’t capable of?
He turned back to glance at the troops, and he could see them staring in the direction Seth had vanished from, all wearing a frown.
He could tell what they were all thinking, he could feel their faith in Seth begin to waver, after all if Seth had such useful items earlier why didn’t he share? Why not try to help prevent as many deaths as possible?
Did he not care? Did their lives not matter?
Uriel could imagine the types of questions running through their minds and spreading doubt.
And his aura flared abruptly, catching everyone’s attention. He held the bridge of his nose, shaking his head, eyes closed in disappointment.
"Are you all stupid? Can’t you think? If you all had the hides earlier, would there be pressure? Would you be pushed as far as you have come?"
Uriel’s lips curled downwards in disgust, looking down disdainfully on the shocked soldiers, "Do you need me to remind you that we are at war? What we need is the strong right now, and the weak? They will die regardless!
"And the sooner you grow strong, the better your chances of avoiding that fate!" Having said his piece, Uriel directed his steed galloping forward.
And the soldiers just stared stunned, they couldn’t believe how blunt but right that was.
It was true, whether they liked it or not they would suffer casualties at a certain point, and it was up to them to decide if they would be counted amongst the lost...
They needed to get stronger... determination hardened across their faces, they all got moving, with some of them carrying the captives on their shoulders since the shackled realm group would slow them down.
And like that the group marched straight into the core area of the corruption zone, if this was a normal zone by this point they would begin to encounter mini bosses in masses...
...
The scene shifts to the distance, deeper into the core, where above an empty field of green, space warped, bubbled, then spat out two entities, waves of will flooding the atmosphere, a brilliant presence accompanying them as the abyssal essence recoiled on contact.
Seth had made sure to bring them far into the core, if possible he wanted to deal with the abyssal zone’s boss quickly before the weight of will became unbearable and he was forced to unequip the Will Manifestation Ring.
He stared up, frowning at the sight of the pulsating mass unraveling space itself, his brows scrunched tight as he once more violently destroyed the tentacles of providence reaching to bind with him.
The force meant to inspire that feeling filled his heart with nothing but intense revulsion towards the girl before him.
Which wasn’t fair to her, this was a stranger he had no reason to hate...
Seth’s focus stayed locked on the changes the plasma mass underwent, and he felt a funnel of a foreign force, as though another gate to another reality was being torn open.
Seth took a few extra steps back the moment he understood what was happening, it seemed the variant was attempting to summon an entity of sorts.
Seth couldn’t tell what it was but the dread he felt knew no bounds, divine energy began to brew in his core, as his hair fluttered behind him, his grip over the Solaris Arc bow growing tight.
Staring at the state of the lady before him, Seth couldn’t help but feel pity, how could one have an ability that turned their very being into a spectrum gate to allow summoning of extraordinary entities?
"That must hurt as hell." he winced at the thought, and then suddenly the plasma warp flared bright, causing an instinctive upward jerk of his hand clutching the bow, the other reaching to pluck the string.
The warp blazed to life, churning chaotic energy rushing into the wind, currents so strong they pushed the abyssal force around it back, the area growing windy, as a glowing swirl formed mid-air.
From the pulsating spiral Seth could feel the presence of something looming as the warp grew brighter, a mighty shadow almost being cast from it.
His arm dragged back, his muscles going tense and his tendons tight, his eyes focused on the portal, his heart beginning to race by the second.
There was no telling what a variant was capable of, he had dealt with some previously, but even those guys had no such absurd providence fueling their abilities.
He could see it, an ability that ran on providence? His heart went cold, because previously he was of the belief that fortune was a force beyond their realm of interaction, but now he was proven wrong.
The warp burst with brilliance, spatial waves washing through the area, as an entity hopped out of it.
The summoning was complete! Seth didn’t need to see the result, his arms hauling on the bowstring jerked backwards, an arrow of gleaming gold beginning to form between his fingers, and without hesitation he let loose.
Charged by divine energy, the arrow disregarded space and time, tearing directly into his foe...
"HUH?" Seth’s head tilted in confusion, it was only at this moment that his vision registered the image of the enemy.
A rabbit?
Not just any rabbit, white, fluffy, chubby and brimming with cuteness... "The fuck?" Seth managed to exclaim before the arrow struck, tearing into the rabbit’s tiny frame, a surge of divine energy obliterating it from the inside out in an instant.
’Did I overestimate her?’ Seth wondered, blinking as he stared in confusion... he couldn’t believe it was that easy...
Meanwhile the plasma gate began to blister and deform, rebuilding a humanoid figure, a human scream ringing loud from its frame.
Seth’s head whipped her way, before sensing something off, and his gaze snapped back towards the location where the bunny had been annihilated.
His eyes widened in disbelief, out of nothing the bunny was being reformed, and this time it bore a few noticeable changes.
