Chapter 52 - Visiting the Pointer Finger
Silas woke up with a terrible headache, thunder storming inside his head. He stood up and washed his face using the water mana.
Then, he sat and meditated to strengthen his brain. It had become a routine to his life. He heard a crushing sound of leaves behind him, each step getting closer to him.
Without opening his eyes, Silas knew who the visitor was.
"Hey, that elf is awake."
Silas opened his eyes and stood up, cleaning off the dust from his pants. He smelled himself and noted that he still had two days before he really smelled like shit.
He walked toward Eli who was still, sitting on the same old chair, reading the book. Silas didn’t know how he got food to eat but seeing the spirits around him, he stopped himself from asking that.
Seriously, what a cheat code.
Silas took out a hard biscuit from his pocket and bite with energy infused teeth and chewed with energy infused mouth.
He grabbed the tea cup unannounced and drank it.
"Today, I am going to every peak." He said.
Eli looked up from the book and nodded. "Need help?"
"Yeah." Silas said. "I am going to see some sort of transportation. Going up and down consumed a lot of time. Do you have a way to make it faster?"
Eli glanced up and turned to the side, a white spirit came forward from the spirit world. It floated around Eli, whispering.
Eli nodded and also said back. His words were meaningless and rubbish. Every word contained a meaning but in the full sentences, everything fell down.
It was like a loophole in reality.
Silas ignored their conversation and enjoyed the tea. He wished he would have packed more tasty foods but regret didn’t fill the stomach.
Roland didn’t eat at all. He said he could stay fresh without eating and drinking for a month. He also tried that when he first advanced to Fourth circle.
What crazy people. Silas shook his head inwardly.
"Take this one." Eli said, swinging his arm.
The white spirit flew toward him and landed on Silas’s nose. It observed Silas and approved him by circling on his head with a fast speed.
"This one is called Vae. He will carry you around using the wind."
Silas smiled and opened up his palm, Vae landed on it gently. As a mage, coming in contact with the spirit was the highest honor.
[Learn and observe from the great spirit. Vae is the highest in the art of wind.]
Thamior sounded inside his head. It was still pretty strange to hear an old person’s voice in the head. Sometimes, he felt as though he was hallucinating.
As usual, Silas ignored the old mage in his head and greeted the wind spirit.
"Nice to meet you, Vae. I hope you will find a good companion in my presence." Silas smiled.
"It is really unusual for a spirit to be that tolerant of someone." Eli said.
"So what is the usual routine?"
"Smitten to the ground. Even with my persuasion, they won’t hold back."
Silas smiled and laughed. "Don’t joke."
[It is true.]
"Consider yourself as a strange human. Vae said you gave off an interesting feeling. Something alien."
That was a daunting feeling.
Silas gulped and changed the conversation. "So with that, the transportation issues were resolved. Thank you."
He stood up and ordered Roland to follow him. As they were about to leave the small forest, Eli asked a question abruptly.
"Where are you heading first?"
Silas thought for a moment and answered. "Pointer finger. It is close and I can circle around."
Eli nodded and warned. "Careful of the master. She is powerful."
"Stronger than you?"
Eli laughed as if he just heard a joke. Vae crushed onto his cheeks, trying to make him eat the words he just said.
"Relax. Relax." Silas shrugged off the attack. It didn’t hurt at all.
"Of course. I am stronger. I am just worried for you two. You are both quite weak but with Vae’s help, something happened, you guys can escape." Eli muttered. "Oh, that is if Vae wanted to help you guys. Don’t rely on my friend too much."
"Got it."
The two men walked to the edge of the peak. Silas looked down, the wind rushed toward him, as if trying to shake him.
But his body control was good and he managed not to fall. He called out Vae.
The white spirit came forward and floated there.
"I want to go to the Pointe finger peak. Can you lift us up?"
Vae nodded, by shaking his body.
The wind around them lifted him and Roland up, high to the sky, almost reaching to the cloud.
Silas didn’t feel mana in the wind. Spirits were like that. Living beings here used mana as a fundamental force and crafted the spell. But spirit existed outside of that framework.
That, to him, was magic.
But it was not true magic either. True magic was the very embodiment of mystery of this world. That was the term for impossible.
According to his knowledge, Spirit art could be achieved by a certain caliber of demigod.
While he was contemplating about the spirit, Vae lifted them. The feeling of flying with the wind gave him insight about his third circle crest.
He observed the way the wind moved and how they supported each other. Vae used the wind to protect themselves from outside influence such as a beast and mana blast.
It was definitely at the level of a Tier 6 spell.
It took them about 15 minutes to reach the peak of the Pointer finger. From a glance, the peak was very different from Eli’s one.
It didn’t have a tree or any other shading. It didn’t even have a place to sleep or something like that. The place was hollow.
Sils squinted his eyes, looking down from a far.
His enhanced eyes saw a figure sitting.
"Drop us on the edge. I don’t want to be rude in the first meeting."
Vae listened and placed the two men on the edge gently before vanishing into the spirit world.
Roland panted and clenched his heart.
Silas looked at him in confusion. "Not good with the height."
Roland nodded reluctantly. "I don’t know I have this kind of fear."
"Hey, that is what a self discovery journey means."
"Haha. Finally seeing the point of your journey." Roland joked.
"Since you can laugh, let’s move. That person is strong."
Roland nodded with a serious expression. He placed his hand on the sword and walked behind Silas like a proper knight.
He wanted to stay in front of him but Silas declined many times.
Silas slowly walked toward the woman, sitting on the ground, meditating.
He observed her and frowned. He knew her. He had seen her before while playing the game.
’Is she supposed to be in the Pinky Finger? Another strange influence?’
Silas shook his head. ’No. It must have been her original place before Rin came here.’
The woman was calm and composed. She must have sensed the two of them but continued meditating at her pace. She wore green clothing that suited her complexion.
With a glance, Silas could see that she cares deeply about herself as she combed her hair. Her black hair reached to her shoulder, hiding her ears.
The way she looked, she didn’t seem to be older than 40 but Silas knew about her real age.
And strength.
She possessed the terrifying Gift.
