Chapter 33 - Scheme and such
Silas turned around and lifted up a slender hand. He helped Ice-pick and accompanied her to the party.
He must say, Ice-pick sure knew how to change her mood. The entire time, she didn’t crack a joke and acted like a noblewoman.
Roland was deeply surprised by that for her refinement was noblelike.
Silas looked at her behavior and thought about her family’s situation. They must have taught her at a young age.
He buried the knowledge deep inside his mind and focused on the party. They walked up the stairs and were greeted by the butler from before.
He then opened the door and announced loudly to the crowd.
"Silas Viremont, heir of Viremont and his lady, Miss Eira."
Silas gave a false name to the butler. Ice-pick name was strange and memorable. He didn’t want the attention of her family yet.
Silas enjoyed the shower of gazes as he walked into the center to greet the host of the party.
The pair must have looked weird in the eyes of people. Ice-pick was beautiful beyond words. Now that she acted elegantly, she was even more beautiful.
On the other hand, Silas held the graceful aura of a nobleman and the title of Heir of Viremont was eye-catching.
They walked to the center without greeting anyone, showing that they respected the Floen Family.
[Haha.. they are in good health.]
Thamior laughed.
Silas ignored and greeted the master of Floen and his wife. He shook hands with his future enemies.
Andile Floen. A very crafty man. He became the head of Floen due to his twisted nature. But despite him being a shitty human, Andile was smart and resourceful.
Even in the game, the main protagonist couldn’t discover any wrongdoing related to him. In a family full of shitty people, it was a miracle that Andile didn’t have any record.
It was extremely suspicious but in the later part of the game, Andile showed his true nature to the main protagonist and was killed.
Even after death, he still made things difficult for the main protagonist.
In short, Silas didn’t want anything to do with him.
"Nice to meet you, Sir Andile. I heard many of your good deeds." Silas said with a smile.
"I believe, my deeds will be buried by yours from today." Andile said, hinting at the main purpose of the party.
Silas nodded and turned his attention to his wife, Taya Floen. She was in her 40s but her skin was smooth and devoid of wrinkles.
Taya glanced at him and shook her head, clearly dissatisfied with his appearance.
"I heard that the famous son of Viremont was handsome. Why are you in this shape?" Taya stated.
Silas smiled, finding an opportunity to express. He bowed softly and said with a pained expression.
"I am terribly sorry."
Andile seemed to sense something and was about to speak but Silas moved fast.
"My face was damaged by the explosion during the rescue of the children. Because of the explosion, my face was twisted."
"Terrible."
"I thought he saved every child from the bandits safely."
"Hmm.. did the king say anything about this?"
"No."
"But I heard the official announcement from the inside."
Murmurs tracked fast in the ballroom. Although Silas didn’t speak loudly, his voice was still heard by others.
Now, he has momentum. Silas smiled inwardly but didn’t dare show outside.
Andile frowned and immediately changed his expression. "It is a shame that your youth was destroyed by those bandits."
The official announcement for the kidnapped children was bandits working under the evil rouge mage.
Andile looked at Ice-pick and asked. "Is this beautiful lady your partner?"
"Not a romantic one." Silas explained. "She is a friend of mine who wants to see the world so she is accompanying me on a journey."
Andile’s eyes lit up as he thought about something. "I see. Sorry for my bluntness, do you have someone you love?"
Silas coughed, not expecting this answer at all.
’What the hell is this question? Aren’t you supposed to be smart and devious fellow? Why are you interested in my love life. Or is this one of your scheme, suffocating me with shameful questions. Very good.’
Silas suppressed the desire to rebuke the question and spoke in earnest.
"No, sir. I have been busy with my training and neglect the aspect of my life. Now that, I have become like this I don’t think I will pursue love anymore."
The first part was correct. Silas had suitor which he got connected from his mother but he was busy catching up with his sister that he didn’t have good relationship with any of them, resulting in breaking apart.
And he wasn’t really care about romance. Sure he loved a few ladies in past lives but they were not the love that he envisioned.
Some had ulterior motive like trying to get information about him. Some genuinely loved him but due to his live style, they had to move on.
He had cried for that. He had been betrayed by that.
But Silas never regretted those love he had.
After all, because of that, he matured. And that was the reason why he didn’t want to find love yet. He didn’t have the time or feeling to spare.
His journey was not done yet.
Andile nodded. "I suppose, it will be difficult with your current state."
Silas tilted his head. Sure with his face, no women would want to gett close to him but he was still the heir of Viremont. That name alone was enough to charm a woman.
"Forget my rudeness." Andile apologized. "And enjoy the party. We will announce the party in an hour. Free feel to enjoy our foods.".
Silas nodded and left.
Andile stared at Silas’s back and his expression turned into a cold one, his eyes didn’t carry a hint of warmthness.
He looked around the people, trying to see if he had to adjust his plan.
’I need to adjust but how much. I have already got the information to control the young man. And I knew about his current state. Hmm... Viremont are a headache. But I won’t let my son’s handle this mess. They will create even more mess.’
He sighed and turned to his wife. She also looked at him.
"How is Isvendra?"
"I don’t know." Taya replied sharply.
Andile nodded, rubbing his chin. "Order you maid to fetch her and fixed her up to your standard."
"What are you going to do with her, dear?"
"Her time is over. She need to be useful for the family."
Taya smiled brightly. She grabbed Andile’s arm and blew him a kiss. "Wonderful. It is a best new I heard in a while."
Andile smiled, looking at the beautiful wife. But his heart was cold. ’Even at this age, you are still being lovely donkey. Have some shame.’
"You better fix her fast."
"Don’t worry, I will fix her in a day." Taya assured.
"Good." With that replay, Andile left the party and prepared the announcement.
