Chapter 101: Sad News
Aquapolis No 1 High School! Grade 3 Beast Taming Class!
The classroom, which was usually packed with students, appeared somewhat empty today, with over a dozen seats unoccupied.
"Have you heard? Logan died in the Secret Realm, and many students from our class also died in the Secret Realm."
"I heard about it long ago. It’s probably spread throughout all of Aquilopolis City by now; it’s almost common knowledge."
"It’s a good thing I didn’t go into that Green Valley Secret Realm. The mortality rate is just too high; less than half of the people survived."
A few students gathered together, discussing it in hushed tones.
Wesley and Billy sat in the back row of the classroom, listening to the whispered conversations of the students gathered in small groups in front of them.
Both of them felt nothing but disdain; they hadn’t felt that the secret realm was filled with danger at all. Rather, it had been full of abundant resources.
"Skinny, how did you handle those Blue Silver Stones?" Wesley tapped the Skinny on the shoulder and asked in a low voice.
"I gave them all to the family!" Billy blurted out, then continued, "Brother Wesley, you don’t know. When I took out those Blue Silver Stones, you should have seen my father’s expression. He was so excited he was practically floating."
"Your Kent Family really hasn’t seen the world. It’s just some Blue Silver Stones, and he’s already overjoyed."
Wesley said this, but in his mind, he recalled the shocked expressions of his own family’s three elders when they saw the Blue Silver Stones. He certainly couldn’t mention that.
"Tch, Dog Wesley, don’t give me that. I doubt the entire Aquilopolis City could even produce 100 Blue Silver Stones. How much better off can your Wayne Family be than my Kent Family?"
"Haha, really? If we take a few of the Blue Silver Stones we got from the secret realm and sell them, wouldn’t we be able to exchange them for a lot of cultivation resources?"
Besides the three sacks of blue silver stones he gave to the Wayne Family, Wesley still had quite a bit of stock on hand.
If he were to exchange all of them for cultivation resources, Wesley felt he wouldn’t lack resources for his cultivation for the next three months.
Giving them to the family to exchange for cultivation resources would certainly be best, but Wesley couldn’t bring himself to ask; it just felt wrong.
Think about it: as a member of the Wayne Family, he had always relied on the family’s cultivation. When he got something good, shouldn’t he turn some over to the family? To talk about exchanging them would seem incredibly selfish.
That was why Wesley had voluntarily given the family three sacks of blue silver stones without asking for any benefits in return.
Just as Wesley was considering how to handle the remaining blue silver stones, Teacher Charles walked into the classroom with a vigorous, imposing stride.
As soon as they saw Teacher Charles enter, the classroom instantly became incredibly quiet.
The students all stood up at once and shouted in unison, "Hello, Teacher Charles!"
"Mm, hello students. Sit down!" Teacher Charles scanned the classroom and raised his hand to signal the students to sit.
"Students, before we begin class, I have some bad news, though perhaps you already know it."
The students all looked at Teacher Charles with rapt attention, knowing in their hearts what he was about to tell them.
"A total of 20 students from the Grade 3 Beast Taming Class went to the Green Valley Secret Realm for training, and fewer than 9 students came out of the secret realm alive."
Then, Teacher Charles read out the list of students who had died in the secret realm one by one. Each name represented a vibrant life!
Some students showed sadness on their faces, while others shed tears. Among these deceased students, some were their best friends or buddies; a single choice had resulted in an eternal farewell!
The atmosphere in the classroom became heavy and oppressive!
Teacher Charles clapped his hands, breaking the heavy atmosphere.
"Students, this is a cruel reality. Let us remember them and use it as motivation for your cultivation. Every bit of extra strength is another bit of hope for survival."
A glimmer of fighting spirit appeared in the students’ eyes, and they spoke up one after another.
"Teacher Charles, I will work hard at my cultivation. I don’t want to make my family sad."
"Teacher Charles, me too!"
"Teacher Charles!"
Listening to the voices of the students below, Teacher Charles waved his hand again, signaling for the students to be quiet.
"I believe in you all. The road ahead is still long. Only by bravely climbing the peaks will you be able to see higher and further."
"Next, students whose names I call, please stand up."
After cheering the students on, Teacher Charles read out the names one by one.
"Diana!"
"Here!" Diana stood up, dressed in a JK skirt, looking youthful and beautiful.
"Gory!"
"Here!"
"Carl!"
The people called by Teacher Charles stood up one after another.
"Hermione!"
"Here!" Hermione’s voice was very soft; she was sitting right in front of Wesley and his companion.
"Billy!"
"I’m here, Teacher Charles!" Billy stood up with a start, grinning from ear to ear.
Teacher Charles looked up at Billy, then called out the last name.
"Wesley!"
"Here!" Wesley also stood up, meeting Teacher Charles’s gaze.
"Come, students, let us give these nine students a round of warm applause."
Teacher Charles led the applause, and the students followed suit.
Clapping sounds erupted in the classroom. The fact that Wesley and the others could survive the secret realm, regardless of what they gained, proved that their strength was extraordinary.
Teacher Charles looked at the nine of them, feeling very satisfied. As a Five-Tier Beastmaster, he naturally had the discernment to sense that after seven days in the secret realm, everyone’s strength had improved significantly.
Especially Wesley and Diana, who had already reached the peak of One-Tier; perhaps they could really become Two-Tier Beast Masters before the national Beast Taming College Entrance Exam.
You must know, among the younger generation of the Eagle Federation, those who could become Two-Tier Beast Masters by the Beast Taming College Entrance Exam were all geniuses with top-tier talent and strength.
In previous Beast Taming College Entrance Exams, the number of participants who were Two-Tier Beast Masters in the entire Eagle Federation did not exceed 50.
These people were the number one geniuses of various provinces and cities, and were also the favorites to win the championship every year.
As for those at the One-Tier level, they were often just there to make up the numbers, hoping only to achieve good results and get admitted to a Beast Taming Academy.
If Wesley and Diana became Two- Tier Beast Masters, then Aquilopolis City would have two Two- Tier Beast Masters, and their achievements in the Beast Taming College Entrance Exam would certainly be higher.
Of course, Teacher Charles didn’t dare to imagine becoming the champion, because snatching first place from so many geniuses was harder than ascending to heaven.
Even Wesley’s father, Bruce, who was the person with the highest Beast Taming Talent among the younger generation of the Eagle Federation back then, had to give it his all just to get first place. One can imagine how great the competitive pressure was!
And then there were the descendants cultivated by large families and major powers; as long as they had decent Beast Taming Talent, the beasts they contracted all had potential of eight stars or higher.
The Old Principal had said that as long as Aquapolis No 1 High School could rank in the top ten in the Beast Taming College Entrance Exam this time, it would be a victory.
Afterwards, Teacher Charles had the nine of them, including Wesley, take turns going up to the podium to briefly talk about their feelings about entering the secret realm.
Danger and opportunity coexist; this was the meaning expressed by the other seven.
Only Wesley and Billy said things differently. Wesley just said he found a place in the secret realm and cultivated it for seven days.
This was to keep a low profile and not be noticed; staying low and developing was the true path to success.
Meanwhile, Billy spoke with great animation about the process of battling various demonic beasts, and those who didn’t know the truth listened very seriously.
Teacher Charles couldn’t listen anymore and kicked Billy off the podium.
"By the way, students, there is one more thing. This afternoon, people from the neighboring city will come over to have an exchange match with our Beast Taming Class!"
As soon as these words were spoken, voices rang out from the students one after another.
"The neighboring city, that’s Sand City!"
"An exchange match? Hmph, I think they’re just coming to Aquilopolis City to show off."
"In recent years, Sand City’s ranking in the Beast Taming College Entrance Exam has consistently remained above our Aquilopolis City, and they have received more allocated resources."
