Supreme Cultivation Master

Chapter 779 - 777 Vanguard

The Fierce Ghost Leader asked in a panic, "Does the Gun God really intend to kill me?"

"Correct," the Gun God said calmly.

The Fierce Ghost Leader cried out, "I have fought for the Netherworld Ghost Clan for tens of thousands of years, yet I never expected such a cruel end!"

"Fine! Come on! I want to see if you’re all talk!" the Fierce Ghost Leader challenged, questioning the Gun God’s strength. He knew that when the Gun God made a decision, he never went back on his word, so at that moment, he adopted a desperate, do-or-die stance.

"Very good," the Gun God remarked. "This spear of mine has never killed one of our own. This time, you’ll be the first!"

The Fierce Ghost Leader charged forward in a rage, unleashing his strongest Netherworld Ghost Technique. He conjured a skull, a massive skull that seemed capable of swallowing the very heavens.

The Netherworld Ghost Technique was on par with the Evil Nether Battle Chronicles. However, as a Martial Artist who was not a core member of the Netherworld Clan, he could not practice it to its higher levels. Nevertheless, it was still terrifying. The menacing skull charged forward, seemingly ready to devour the heavens! As a Subcestor, he was certainly no slouch. Even if he was the weakest among the Subcestors, slaying Divine Monarchs was a trivial matter for him.

In everyone’s view, it would take the Gun God, who had not acted in several thousand years, at least dozens of moves to kill the Fierce Ghost Leader, as this was a contest between equals.

But then, the Gun God moved, just as the heaven-devouring skull was slashing down upon him.

He lifted his long spear and thrust it forward.

The long spear possessed an endless sharpness. Even before the tip arrived, its aura had already penetrated the fearsome skull. After the skull was pierced, the Fierce Ghost Leader tried to defend himself, but it was too late, as the long spear had already run through his body.

He struggled and wailed, but after a few weak flails, he collapsed. His life force vanished in an instant—it was a one-hit kill.

The crowd was stunned. They felt the Gun God’s strength had increased by more than just a single notch. It appeared his power was now approaching the Ancestor Realm.

They gasped. They were all Subcestors, but the Gun God had advanced far beyond them. The ability to instantly kill an expert of the same level—that was the most terrifying kind of Martial Artist.

The Gun God retracted his spear and spoke calmly, "Let this serve as a warning to you all. When you face a formidable enemy, even if you are outmatched, you are never to return in such a disgraceful state.

"This is because the Netherworld Ghost Clan only has warriors who die in battle, not warriors who flee."

"Yes!" the group replied, not daring to say another word. They could only nod in agreement.

The Gun God then declared, "Even if the Void crevices are sealed, I have a way to break through their defenses. We will attack from the Void Chaos!"

The crowd drew a sharp breath. The Void Chaos was extremely perilous. It seemed the Gun God was resolved to go to war with the Divine Domain. But in a way, it was fitting. The Netherworld Ghost Clan had not reached its current standing by being inherently powerful; their reputation had been forged through endless slaughter.

「Meanwhile, in the Divine Domain」

Ye Fan surveyed the allied forces, which numbered three million strong.

He did not yet know the size of the enemy’s army, but three million was the absolute limit of what they could muster. Half of that number consisted of the Demon Clan’s army. The Righteous Divine Lineage had been weak to begin with, and after the losses from the last war, their numbers had dwindled to only a few hundred thousand, making them comparable in size to the post-war Evil God army. As for the armies from the mortal realm, they only numbered about a hundred thousand.

He knew the Netherworld Ghost Clan was notorious for its slaughter and that their combat power was surely immense. Even with three million troops, he was not confident of victory.

"It seems I need to make some moves in advance," Ye Fan muttered to himself.

He then took out the Galaxy Map he had obtained in the mortal realm. Back then, he could not comprehend it at all, but things were different now. He could finally understand the map, and he and several other high-ranking leaders had even made copies.

Ye Fan pointed at the Galaxy Map. "This is the Divine Domain. Beyond it lies the endless Void Chaos, filled with countless turbulent streams and black holes!

"There’s only one path to the Greedy Wolf Star. For us, a single path is a good thing. Too many routes would make it easy to attack but difficult to defend!"

"Exactly!" the Great Wilderness God Monarch chimed in. "On this one path, we can set up ambushes in many places and lure them into the black holes and chaotic streams. The terrain gives us a great advantage!"

He was the foremost Commander of the Divine Domain. Although his personal strength was not at the pinnacle, when it came to command, if he claimed to be second, no one would dare claim to be first. He had once defeated the invincible Evil God Lineage with an army half the size of theirs. Calling the Great Wilderness God Monarch the first Military God of the Divine Domain was by no means an exaggeration.

Ye Fan said, "The overall command will fall to my father-in-law. He will then assign my senior brothers and colleagues their roles!"

He turned to the assembly. "Brothers, colleagues, the defense of the Divine Domain must not falter. So, at the risk of offending you all, I must speak frankly.

"You are to follow my father-in-law’s orders unconditionally, regardless of which faction you belong to. If anyone dares to disobey, do not blame me for being ruthless."

"Understood!" The crowd nodded, indicating their acceptance of the Great Wilderness God Monarch’s command. The God Monarch himself nodded in satisfaction.

"Alright," Ye Fan said. "I’ll leave the planning to my father-in-law. As for me, I will go personally to intercept them!

"Demon Sky Monkey, you’re with me!"

"Yes, my Lord!" the Demon Sky Monkey immediately affirmed.

And so, a grand and momentous battle was about to begin.

Ye Fan and the Demon Sky Monkey rushed to the front lines. Ye Fan opened the Galaxy Map and saw that they were not far from Sirius. After another half-day of flight, they would reach it.

At that moment, the Demon Sky Monkey said, "My Lord, I can sense the aura of the Netherworld Ghost Clan!"

Ye Fan was shocked.

"On that nameless planet!" the Demon Sky Monkey informed him. "It’s their scout division!"

"Let’s go!" Ye Fan ordered.

The two arrived on the nameless planet and, just as expected, found a small Void Battleship large enough for a few hundred people. He saw a group of them charting a course on a Galaxy Map.

"What a perfect opportunity!" Ye Fan said. "You cast Dark Descent, and I’ll set up an Array. It looks like we’re about to put on a grand show."

"Alright!"

The Demon Sky Monkey instantly cast Dark Descent.

The Divine Monarch leading the group shouted, "On your guard! Something’s wrong!"

In the next moment, however, they found themselves shrouded in darkness, completely unable to move.

Ye Fan took their Galaxy Map and altered the route they had drawn. Afterward, the Demon Sky Monkey withdrew his Dark Descent. The scouts began to stir, feeling as though they were waking from a dream. Their hands still held the Galaxy Map, but they could not recall what had just happened. Their recent memory was a blur of chaos.

The Divine Monarch said, "This place is too strange. We must retreat immediately and report everything to the Gun God!"

"Yes!"

The group boarded the Void Battleship and quickly departed the nameless planet.

The Demon Sky Monkey asked in astonishment, "My Lord, what did you do to them? It’s like they don’t remember what just happened!"

Ye Fan replied, "I tampered with the memories in their souls. The technique comes from the Soul Altar of the Soul Clan. I am now a fifth-layer Martial Artist of the Soul Altar, and my understanding of the soul has risen to a new level!"

"I see! My Lord is truly formidable!" the Demon Sky Monkey flattered.

"It’s no great feat," Ye Fan said. "After this war is over, I can teach you the Secret Techniques of the Soul Clan."

"No, my Lord. We Evil Netherworld Gods have studied other Cultivation Techniques, and we have found that only the Evil Nether Battle Chronicles truly suits us. We are not as heaven-defying as you, my Lord. You can learn any technique without issue, even those that conflict with one another. But if we tried to learn them, our bodies would likely explode!"

This was no boast; it was the Demon Sky Monkey’s honest assessment. While the allure of something like the Soul Refining Treasure was great, one had to consider how long one wished to live. For them to attempt such a thing would be an utterly unrealistic challenge.
