Chapter 20 - 19 Japanese Expert
On one bed, an elegant man and woman slept soundly. Elsewhere, however, a cruel torture was underway.
BANG!
Young Master Ji and Shen Zhehao were kicked to the ground. They endured a brutal beating from the one-eyed man, who only stopped when they were nearly lifeless.
Spitting blood, Young Master Ji and Shen Zhehao were barely holding on, but they wouldn’t be let off so easily. Four burly men hoisted them to their feet.
The one-eyed man’s gaze was ice-cold, like that of a black tiger in the dead of night, instilling a sense of utter despair. Even with only one eye, his stare was enough to make one’s scalp tingle. He was a frightening man—the leader of the Black Tiger Society, Black Tiger himself.
Black Tiger asked in a chilling voice, "So this is the man you said was just some special forces soldier?"
He could no longer contain his fury and slapped them both across the face again.
Shen Zhehao trembled as he spoke, "When he made a move at my club, his skills seemed to be on par with a special forces soldier at most!"
His voice shook, filled with terror. The man standing before him was the fearsome Black Tiger, whose reputation alone was terrifying.
"Fuck you!"
Black Tiger sent them flying with a kick.
"Special forces? My Black Tiger Society lost over ten elites, plus our ace War God, Lone Wolf. He killed them all easily, and you’re telling me he’s only at a special forces level?"
The more Black Tiger thought about it, the angrier he became. But he couldn’t kill them yet; they were still useful. He needed them to gain control over the Ji and Shen families.
Though they were on the verge of suffocation, the two men were utterly shocked. They had never imagined that Lone Wolf and more than ten elite members could be slaughtered by one person.
This man’s abilities are far beyond those of a simple special forces soldier.
"Take these two away," Black Tiger ordered, ignoring their shocked expressions. "They dared to report false intelligence. I’ll deal with them after this is over. For now, let them live."
And so, the two battered men were dragged away by Black Tiger’s underlings.
Leopard, who had been standing by, asked, "Boss, Lone Wolf’s skills weren’t much weaker than mine, yet he was killed so easily. It seems this man’s power is second only to yours."
Black Tiger nodded. "Indeed, that’s a possibility."
"We can’t underestimate this person. But it doesn’t matter. I’ve already called for reinforcements. Even if his power is nearly on my level, he is guaranteed to die!"
"Yes!" Leopard nodded.
Black Tiger said viciously, "Ye Fan, you dared to kill my best man. Your life is mine. Soon, you’ll learn just how foolish it was to cross me!"
He truly lived up to his name; in some ways, Black Tiger was even more vicious than the beast itself.
Then, Black Tiger said to Leopard, "Find a way to lure that kid to the Black Tiger Society. I’ll arrange for someone to deal with him there."
"Yes!"
Leopard departed to make the arrangements.
Just then, a dark, cold figure materialized behind Black Tiger. The sudden appearance startled Black Tiger, but he breathed a sigh of relief when he recognized the man as an ally.
He bowed respectfully. "Lord Takasaki!"
This was Takasaki Ryosuke, one of Japan’s most powerful ninjas, whose abilities were considered god-like. More importantly, he was Japan’s number one assassin. He was ranked in the top ten of the assassin world, and with his uncanny Ninjutsu, no target of his had ever escaped. He had earned the nickname Hell Yama.
This was the terrifying Takasaki Ryosuke.
"What is the situation?" Takasaki Ryosuke inquired.
"My lord, we still haven’t located the King of Heaven’s residence," Black Tiger replied promptly.
"It would be strange if you had. Few have ever seen the King of Heaven in person, so your failure is expected. Continue with a blanket search of the area. Jiangning City isn’t that large; he will have to show himself eventually."
"Yes!" Black Tiger replied with deference.
As Takasaki Ryosuke was about to vanish, Black Tiger spoke up. "My lord, there is actually a favor I must ask of you!"
"What is it?" Takasaki Ryosuke asked.
"I’ve offended a bodyguard from the Su family," Black Tiger stated respectfully. "This bodyguard also killed my subordinate, Lone Wolf. He definitely won’t let the matter rest and will surely come after me. I’m not confident I can defeat him."
Takasaki Ryosuke was initially unmoved, but the mention of the Su family brought two names to mind: Xiao Quan Yilang and Shinzo Abe. They were his most promising disciples and had already built a reputation in the assassin world. Their last mission was to assassinate members of the Su family, a mission from which neither returned.
Takasaki Ryosuke had been planning to investigate, but matters concerning the King of Heaven had forced him to delay. Now, Black Tiger’s words brought the incident back to the forefront of his mind. From Black Tiger’s description, the bodyguard had to be the personal guard of the Su family’s daughter. It was highly likely that he was connected to the deaths of his two apprentices. This was the perfect opportunity to investigate and settle the score.
"Fine," he told Black Tiger. "Lure him to the Black Tiger Society. I will kill him myself."
"Thank you, my lord!" Black Tiger was ecstatic. With Takasaki Ryosuke’s help, his chances of success were much higher.
No, with Takasaki Ryosuke making a move, Ye Fan was as good as dead. This confidence came from Black Tiger, who alone truly understood how terrifying Takasaki Ryosuke was. The title Killer Yama was not just for show. Even in the global assassin world, Takasaki Ryosuke was a top-tier, all-around master.
The next day, Tang Yurou awoke from a deep sleep. The first thing she did was clear her head and check her body. Relieved to find nothing had changed, she let out a sigh. Ye Fan had already left. Tang Yurou felt a strange mix of relief and disappointment, a feeling she couldn’t quite understand herself. All she knew was that she could only sleep peacefully in his arms. At the thought, her cheeks flushed. She had slept soundly in his embrace all night, and she found herself already missing that feeling.
Ye Fan arrived at the villa while it was still dark, intending to slip back into his own bed so Su Qingxue wouldn’t discover anything.
However, as he opened the door, he froze. He had been caught red-handed. Su Qingxue was sitting in the living room, staring right at him.
"Where were you last night?" she asked.
Ye Fan cursed his bad luck. There was nothing to do now but lie.
"I was bored, so I went out for a few drinks," Ye Fan said immediately. "I didn’t mean to get so drunk. I just woke up."
If I went into acting, wouldn’t winning a ’Best Actor’ award be a piece of cake?
Su Qingxue stepped closer and caught a faint, delicate fragrance on him. The scent was familiar, but she couldn’t place it. With her hectic job, she couldn’t be expected to remember how everyone smelled.
Of course, the fragrance belonged to Tang Yurou. After holding her all night, it would have been strange if her scent hadn’t lingered on him.
"Are you sure you went drinking?" she demanded.
"Absolutely! I can give you the bar’s address. The staff can vouch for me!"
"I’m not interested," Su Qingxue snapped. "Just hurry up and get ready. We’re going to be late for work."
Ye Fan finally breathed a sigh of relief. He had gambled that Su Qingxue wouldn’t have time to verify his story, and it seemed he was right.
They arrived at the company, where Su Qingxue began organizing some documents.
A short while later, Tang Yurou entered her office. "President Su, here is the financial statement I just compiled."
"Great! Thanks for your hard work," Su Qingxue smiled. She had always treated Tang Yurou like a younger sister, as the two of them were quite close.
"You’re welcome, President Su!"
Just as Tang Yurou turned to leave, Su Qingxue caught that familiar scent again. It was the exact same fragrance she had detected on Ye Fan—identical in every way, only stronger on Tang Yurou and fainter on him.
I’m one hundred percent certain. The source of the scent is Tang Yurou.
