Chapter 189: The Glass Battlefield
The Vanguard fleet cut through the freezing southern waters and finally reached the Azure Sea.
The dark churning ocean was entirely gone. In its place lay a perfectly smooth wasteland of glowing glass. The sheer divine heat radiating from the eastern continent had flash frozen the rolling waves into solid translucent silica. The horizon glowed with a terrifying blinding golden light.
I stood on the prow of the flagship. I wore the colossal Level 200 Dragon-Mech armor. The ancient starmetal plating hummed with limitless power.
The draconic reactor inside my chest pulsed in perfect rhythm with my Level 205 core.
I raised my heavy brass gauntlet.
"Halt the fleet," I commanded. My deep baritone voice echoed with a heavy metallic growl through my new helmet.
"Do not advance the ships onto the glass. The Vanguard will hold the perimeter. I alone will face this Calamity myself. You all shall stay behind and give me the backup. I am counting on you!"
I ignited the draconic reactor. Massive mechanical wings unfolded violently from my spine. I launched myself into the freezing night air. I flew entirely alone across the endless expanse of the glowing glass ocean.
I did not have to search for the enemy.
The Angelic Calamity stood in the exact center of the frozen sea. It was towering. It possessed eight massive wings woven from pure starlight. It gripped a colossal flaming greatsword in its right hand. It did not look like a monster.
It possessed a beautiful perfectly symmetrical face. It lacked all mortal emotion. It radiated an aura of absolute terrifying perfection.
I landed heavily on the smooth glass directly across from the entity. My starmetal boots cracked the silica.
The Level 210 God did not shout. It did not draw its blade aggressively. Its voice echoed directly inside my mind. The telepathic frequency was terrifyingly calm.
You are an anomaly, the Angelic Calamity whispered. The voice sounded like chiming silver bells. You broke the planetary seal.
This world is sick with mortal ambition. The cosmic order requires absolute equilibrium. I am the cure. I will cleanse this rock of your iron and return it to silence.
"You talk too much for a parasite," I replied coldly.
"You do not have the right to decide the fate of any of the beings living on this planet. We are free and will always be free."
The beautiful face of the Calamity did not flinch. It simply raised its left hand toward the fractured sky.
The broken atmosphere violently tore open. A massive cosmic rift formed directly above the ocean. Thousands of lesser angels poured out of the glowing portal.
They were blinding winged warriors armed with golden spears. They shrieked with divine fury as they dove toward the glass battlefield to execute the mortal resistance.
But the Velkrath Imperium was already waiting.
The solid glass ocean miles behind me violently exploded. Nyssa had commanded the Iron Leviathans to dive deep below the flash frozen surface hours ago.
Dozens of heavy black submarines broke upward through the thick silica.
They breached the surface and immediately fired massive barrages of Void Steel torpedoes directly into the descending angelic swarm.
The hyper dense black metal completely ignored the divine magic. The torpedoes shattered the golden shields of the lesser angels instantly. The sky filled with the screeching of dying celestial minions.
On the southern perimeter Rolf and Ursa led the charge. The Silver Colossus and the towering Dire-Bear leaped from the iron dreadnoughts directly onto the glass.
Ten thousand modernized beastmen followed them. The Blackhorn battalion raised their Void Steel kinetic rifles and unleashed a deafening continuous volley of Steampunk artillery into the air.
The Pack was actively slaughtering the armies of heaven.
The Angelic Calamity shifted its glowing eyes back to my visor.
Inevitable, the telepathic voice stated smoothly.
The Level 210 God vanished from my sight. It swung its colossal flaming greatsword with absolute lethal intent. The strike broke the sound barrier instantly.
It was a supersonic arc of pure celestial destruction designed to completely vaporize my physical form before my brain could even register the movement.
But my brain was no longer bound by mortal limits.
The Absolute Kinetic Perception buff completely took over my mind. My mental processing speed transcended physical reality. The chaotic supersonic speed of the God slowed down to a pathetic crawl.
I watched the colossal flaming greatsword inch toward my neck in perfect slow motion. I could see the individual sparks of divine fire floating gently off the blade. I calculated the exact trajectory down to the atomic level.
I did not dodge. I raised my left arm.
I caught the colossal flaming blade directly in my starmetal gauntlet.
BOOM.
The kinetic shockwave was apocalyptic. The sheer concussive force completely pulverized the glowing glass ocean for miles in every single direction. Millions of sharp silica shards flew into the air like a localized hurricane.
But my Dragon-Mech armor did not yield a single inch. My heavy boots remained perfectly planted in the crater.
The beautiful symmetrical face of the Calamity registered a brief flicker of absolute shock. A mortal creature had just physically stopped a divine execution.
"I do not care about your cosmic order," I growled.
I ignited my absolute core capacity. The pitch black Flame of Death violently erupted around my right fist. The dark conceptual fire hissed aggressively against the divine light of the greatsword.
I drove a devastating physics defying uppercut directly into the perfect jaw of the God.
The raw kinetic force of my Level 205 vessel combined with the ancient draconic reactor shattered the celestial jawbone instantly.
The Flame of Death poured directly into the open wound. The pitch black fire began to aggressively devour the pure starlight of the entity.
The Angelic Calamity was violently launched backward across the shattered glass battlefield. It crashed heavily through three towering rogue icebergs of frozen silica before finally coming to a stop.
I cracked my heavy brass knuckles. The dark fire burned brightly in the freezing air.
"Stand up parasite," I commanded.
