Chapter 150: Scary To Survive
Chapter Hundred Fifty — Scary To Survive
"Killian!"
Someone shook his body as they called.
"He's deep asleep." another voice said over his frame. Killian could even feel their weight on his bed.
"Hey, wake up, man! Wake up!" the voice sounded like Reginald's and within his consciousness, Killian found his way towards the light.
He snapped his eyes open, and he saw them rush back away from the bed.
He heard their Coordinator chuckle lightly, and he exhaled in relief. The guy didn't die.
Killian stared hard at the ceiling for a second, and slowly his eyelids dropped. Someone let out a heavy sigh, before approaching him.
"Killian, are you alright?" Reginald asked.
"Hmm," Killian hummed. "Are you?"
There was no reply. Killian fluttered his eyes opened and shifted them towards the boy.
Reginald stood over his bed, hands crossed over his chest, and his eyebrows furrowed inwards.
"I do not have a gash on my neck, so I am fine."
'Gash on the neck…' Killian's thoughts gathered as he blinked, trying to remember exactly what the context of those words could mean.
'Do I have a gash on my neck?'
The events of the other day replayed in his head under two seconds, and his upper body rose from the bed at once.
Nothing stung on his body apart from his tightened muscles and soreness inside his stomach. A feeling he always attributed to hunger.
He touched the sides of his body that felt wet, and sure enough, his fingers were blood-stained when he stared at them.
Reginald sat on the bed, grabbed a tissue and began rolling out a portion. "How badly injured were you?"
"It's not my blood."
Reginald's hand stopped, he turned to Killian. "Uh?"
"It's not my blood." Killian repeated, touching his neck, and feeling a wet smear there.
His shoulders loosened as he confirmed it wasn't a gash. "I must look like a mess now. I should've taken a bath afterwards, but I was tired."
"After taking down so many, I don't blame you for falling asleep first." The Coordinator said from behind the rest.
He stepped forward and Arisa and Lumen moved away for him to pass. Reginald handed Killian the roll of tissue he had folded and moved away.
The Coordinator stood in front of Killian, covering half his face with himself with a handmade fan that only showed his eyes.
"Other Coordinators discovered that almost fifteen outcasts had broken into our academy recently by entering an already arranged realm. A wanted criminal, Sven, has been assisting them with those realms."
Killian nodded, wiping the wetness of his body. He remembered the leader of the outcasts and the staff that he regretted abandoning in the realm.
'I should've used that to practice my resistance against the Light Element.' He sighed outwardly.
He also remembered the Crafter and the eyes he had to feed his tendrils. That was the only thing he got out of the whole ruckus.
"If the academy will be handling it, without needing me to explain anything, then that'll be fine—"
"They obviously need you to explain some things." Reginald chipped in behind the Coordinator. "Like why the outcasts were looking for you that badly? To send fifteen people after you? That's crazy."
The rest quietly agreed.
"Didn't you say I get targeted after saying my nickname out loud in front of so many people? This is the undue attention from it, is it not?"
Reginald's face crumpled, he leaned towards Killian with his hands on his hips.
"Outcasts breaking into the academy just to kidnap one person? The undue attention should be from the other students, not outcasts."
Killian blinked once. He totally misunderstood that, and rightfully, because his idea of a threat against his life wasn't newbies his age having a fight with him.
He scanned the rooms, seeing the ones waiting for his answers. If they probed further, they'll probably realise that he was hiding something.
"Ah… well, that's all I thought of when I fought them." Killian replied. "So I didn't ask for any other reason."
"Was the fight so quick that they didn't gloat about it, either?" Arisa asked. "Outcasts tend to gloat. Or so says my older brother who used to work in the outlands."
Killian briefly remembered if the ones he fought had time to gloat in their typical fashion, but all he remembered was the leader raining curses on him.
"I had to deal with a Realmcraft that dismissed my skills. I didn't listen enough because I was panicking."
The moment Killian reminded them that he was the victim, all their interrogative air died with a sigh.
His Coordinator slapped his fan closed.
"You still need to meet the other Coordinators to explain what happened, but for now, take a shower and eat. You didn't have dinner, yesterday did you?"
He shook his head, while taking his legs out of his blanket. "Can I have them deliver it in here?"
"Sure," Reginald was already walking to the delivery tab in their room. "You can go and have a shower."
"Thanks." Killian reached for his bag but Arisa grabbed it before he did.
"Come on. I'll help you."
The boy left the room before Killian could complain. He stood beside his bed, glaring at the door.
Reginald waved dismissively. "Don't mind him. Arisa is trying to be your friend because you're beginning to scare him. That is his fawn response."
Garfield nudged Reginald lightly. "Don't expose him like that. If someone kills fifteen outcasts and leaves a corpse without eyeballs, wouldn't you be scared too?"
The boy laughed after that but there wasn't any amusement in his laughter. It was as if he was trying to joke about what he meant to be taken seriously.
Killian left his phone, and headphones on the table. "Fighting to survive is always scary. Hopefully neither you nor Arisa ever experience that."
Garfield's laughter died. "Ah… yes."
Killian calmly closed the door behind him as he left the room.
His foot hovered, mid-step. The hallway air turned cold. Outside, numerous boys from the other plated rooms stood.
Numerous eyes followed him, the boy had defeated more than a dozen of outcasts in one night.
