Chapter 591 - 589: Why are you here?
After paying his respects, he saw that he was still pinned down by the Imperial Guard. He couldn’t help but say, "Young Master, these Imperial Guards seem to have arrested the wrong person. I beseech you to intervene on my behalf."
Some of the onlookers who saw this couldn’t help but start laughing. Others huddled together, whispering.
"Is this guy an idiot?"
"The General’s Mansion is gone, and he’s still announcing who he is. The ’legitimate eldest son’? That’s hilarious."
"Shh, let’s just watch... I heard this young master from the General’s Mansion isn’t all there in the head. He’s the one who was chased and bitten by a dog the other day."
"I know about that! He even crawled through a doggy door."
"And a pigsty."
The sound of their whispers carried over.
Arthur Jacobs didn’t hear the rest, but he caught the words "pigsty" and "doggy door." He knew they were talking about that time he had to crawl through a doggy door for a mission.
Arthur Jacobs’s face was flushed with anger. The thought of their discussion filled him with shame and rage. ’These damn gossips have nothing better to do than latch onto someone’s past and never let go.’
And the Princely Heir was still here. ’If he hears all this, he’ll definitely have a bad impression of me.’
Aaron Sinclair didn’t know what Arthur Jacobs was thinking, nor did he care to. He now stood just two steps away from him. With a slight raise of his eyes, he could see Arthur Jacobs kneeling there, pinned to the ground.
He sneered.
’What goes around, comes around.’
Aaron Sinclair gave a slight wave of his hand. The Imperial Guard immediately released their hold on Arthur Jacobs’s neck and stepped aside.
No longer pinned down, the kneeling Arthur Jacobs could finally move. A wave of relief washed over him. He even wore a smug expression, as if to say: ’See that? Even the Princely Heir has to show me some respect. What does that make all of you?’
"Thank you, Young Master, for getting me out of this."
The words had just left his lips, and a grateful smile reappeared on his face as he looked up. However, the moment he saw clearly who was standing before him, his smile froze.
At a single glance, he was so startled that he jerked backward with a violent lurch. The look of utter disbelief on his face was not lost on Aaron Sinclair.
"You... How can it be you?"
Arthur Jacobs’s expression changed. When he spoke, his voice was filled with such terror that it cracked. "The ghost of Nathan Jacobs... You... what are you doing here? It’s still daytime." Seeing the person who had suddenly appeared before him, Arthur Jacobs was reminded of the head from that night, and all the blood on the ground.
"A ghost..."
"Go away... Get away from me! Don’t come any closer!"
In that instant, Arthur Jacobs’s mind was consumed by the horrific scene from that night. He could almost feel the blood splattering on his face.
His gaze swept across the scene, searching for the Princely Heir of The Warden’s Northern Manor, but he saw no sign of him standing next to this apparition.
The Imperial Guards standing nearby looked furious, shooting him a venomous glare. Nate Alden, the Commander of the Imperial Guard who was always with Aaron Sinclair, immediately barked at him.
"Insolence! How dare you spout such nonsense in front of the Princely Heir!"
’Princely Heir?’
’Who’s the Princely Heir? It can’t possibly be him, can it?’ Arthur Jacobs snapped his head up to look at Aaron Sinclair, his expression more horrified than if he’d actually seen a ghost.
"You’re the Princely Heir?"
Aaron Sinclair chuckled and gave him a small wave. "That’s right, it’s me! Arthur Jacobs, long time no see. Did you go through all this trouble just to greet me?"
Arthur Jacobs’s eyes widened. He stared intently at Aaron Sinclair, as if trying to burn a hole through him with his gaze. His eyes screamed with utter disbelief.
He slowly shook his head.
"No... Impossible. How could you be the Princely Heir? How could you be the Princely Heir of The Warden’s Northern Manor?"
’How could this be?’
He didn’t believe it. He refused to believe it.
’Isn’t he an unwanted bastard? Isn’t he that Nathan Jacobs, the one who was supposed to be trampled under my foot, left to rot in the mud? No, even the name Nathan Jacobs isn’t his—it’s mine! After Nathan Jacobs was sent away, Mother and I sent people to finish him off on the road.’
’How is he not dead? How could he possibly still be alive?’
Arthur Jacobs’s gaze swept over him, taking in the fine silk robes and the priceless Jade Pendant hanging from his waist. In that instant, his eyes filled with jealousy. ’Why? By what right does Nathan Jacobs have such good fortune? He was cast out. He was an unwanted bastard. How could he suddenly become a Prince’s son, the Princely Heir of The Warden’s Northern Manor?’
Seeing the utterly thunderstruck look on his face...
...Aaron Sinclair simply regarded him with a smirk.
"What? Why so surprised? If you can be ’found’ after being ’lost’ and become the true young master, why can’t I have the Warden of the North for a biological father? And a Princess Consort for a mother?"
Arthur Jacobs’s expression was still more horrified than if he’d seen a ghost. He shook his head again and again.
"No, I don’t believe it."
"How could you possibly be the Princely Heir? It’s impossible! This is impossible!"
As soon as the words left his mouth...
...Aaron Sinclair cut in with a sarcastic retort. "Can’t you people come up with a new line? Every single one of you sees me and says the same thing. ’Impossible.’ ’How can this be?’ ’How could you be the Princely Heir?’ Tsk, I’m so tired of hearing it. Whether I’m the Princely Heir or not isn’t up to any of you to decide. What can I say? I was just born lucky. You can’t get what I have, no matter how jealous you are."
At these words...
...Arthur Jacobs was so enraged that his eyes rolled back in his head and he collapsed on the ground. "I don’t believe it... I get it! It’s fake! This is all fake! You’re the fake young master! You’re just some stray my parents picked up off the street, a fatherless, motherless bastard! You can’t be the Princely Heir of The Warden’s Northern Manor! I know! You’re an impostor! That’s a capital offense! Guards! He’s impersonating the Princely Heir! Seize him, quickly!"
"I have proof! He’s Nathan Jacobs, the one who usurped my identity for all those years! He’s not the Prince’s biological son!"
’Calling me a bastard?’
Aaron Sinclair’s expression turned icy.
He gave a subtle gesture with his finger.
"Seize him."
Nate Alden, the Commander of the Imperial Guard standing to one side, strode forward, grabbed Arthur Jacobs off the ground by the collar, and hauled him up.
Aaron Sinclair stepped forward and, without hesitation, delivered several hard slaps to his face. SLAP! SLAP! After a few resounding smacks, Arthur Jacobs’s face instantly swelled and turned red.
"Have you not heard that I hold a grudge better than anyone? You dare curse me? Who gave you the nerve, huh?"
As he spoke, he landed several more slaps. "Your skin is so thick it’s making my hand hurt. You son of a bitch, I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. People are right when they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Your whole family is cut from the same damn cloth."
Arthur Jacobs howled in pain from the beating.
"AHH! Stop hitting me!"
"Stop your hand..."
Another backhanded slap landed.
The force of the blow made him bite his tongue, and blood trickled from his mouth. His face was already swollen like a pig’s head.
"Pah," Aaron spat. "Truly hideous."
"Go on, keep cursing. Why have you stopped?"
SLAP! SLAP!
He delivered a few more slaps.
"Whether or not I’m my father’s son is something I know a hell of a lot better than you. What gives you the right to run your mouth off about it?"
With that, he kicked the man to the ground. "My hand hurts from hitting him. Drag him to the Sky-Prison. Let his family have a proper reunion. A family should be together, after all."
