Pregnant Cultivator, Doted by Big Boss

Chapter 577 - 575: These Two Weirdos Really Aren’t Here to Be Funny

Before they could speak again, Corin Ainsworth, who was at Celeste Grant’s side, lunged toward the pair. "You fiends, give me back my body!" Unfortunately, he was currently a soul body and couldn’t touch his own physical one.

Seeing his lone, frantic display, the two on the ground couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "You think you can hit us? You’re nothing but a lowly ant. You’re just a wandering spirit now—you can’t even lay a finger on us."

The other one, possessing his sister’s body, spoke up. "That’s right. You should feel honored that we saw fit to use your bodies. We could have picked anyone, but we chose you two. And why’s that? Because we just love the way you and your sister look."

Celeste Grant glanced at the two on the ground. ’So brazen about possessing other people’s bodies?’ With that thought, she said nonchalantly, "Well, now. You two are quite full of yourselves."

The moment she spoke, the two on the ground instinctively sensed danger. The entity occupying Corin Ainsworth’s body raised its head. Its once-normal eyes were now swirling pools of black mist. The sight made even Celeste Grant curious. ’What exactly is this thing inside his body?’

They looked at Celeste Grant, their voices no longer those of Corin and his sister, but a different, rasping tone.

"Who in the world are you? I suggest you mind your own business."

’They’re still on the ground, and they’re threatening me?’

Celeste Grant looked down at them, a gentle smile playing on her lips as she spoke softly, "Do you know why the flowers are so very red?"

The moment she spoke, the two fiends stared at each other, trying to parse her meaning. Then she watched as the two morons actually started discussing it among themselves.

"Well, flowers come in many colors—red, yellow, white... So, ’why are they so red?’ It must have to do with the weather, and the specific variety of the seed."

The other one nodded vigorously.

"I know! I’m actually a big fan of red peonies. Oh, and red camellias are beautiful, too. I get it now! It must be about the season. There are tons of red flowers in the summer."

’You get it? What the hell do you get?’

Celeste Grant: "..."

Watching the pair huddled together on the ground in deep discussion, the corner of her mouth twitched. ’Are these two really all there?’

Just then, they lifted their chins and snorted. "Don’t underestimate us. We’ve learned a great deal these past two years. The written language of Humanity is truly profound, though. I feel like I still haven’t fully grasped it. I’ll have to make sure to study more in the future."

’You think you have a future?’

’Are they a pair of aspiring scholars? No, that’s not the point. What on earth did these two ghastly things come to The Mortal Realm to do?’

Tired of listening to their nonsense, Celeste Grant reached out and yanked both of them straight out of the bodies they were possessing.

"Stop! What do you think you’re doing?"

"Let go of me! Don’t mess up my hair... AHHHH! I don’t have hair anymore! Wait, I don’t even have a body!"

Before they could finish their spectral wailing, she had already ripped the two unknown entities from Corin’s and his sister’s bodies. They were two plumes of pitch-black mist, and now that they were free, they struggled desperately to get back into their fleshly vessels.

Celeste Grant held out her hand, palm up. The two balls of black mist were now suspended above it. A Barrier materialized, centered on her hand, and the two mists began ramming against its invisible walls.

Seeing the things that possessed their bodies finally captured, Corin’s face lit up with joy.

"You caught them."

"This is wonderful! The Princess Consort caught the two fiends!"

As he spoke, Corin’s gaze shifted to his own body lying on the ground. He joyfully drifted over and tried to lie back down in it. But after he did, he discovered he still couldn’t re-enter his body. He floated back up, his face a mask of confusion.

"What’s happening? I can’t get back into my body." He lifted his translucent hand, looking at it before trying to lie back down again. But he still couldn’t re-enter it. After several more failed attempts, he drifted dejectedly to Celeste Grant’s side.

"Princess Consort... I think I might actually be dead." ’Am I doomed to be a wandering spirit forever? Or do I just have to wait for my body to grow cold before I can reincarnate?’

At that moment, his sister’s soul body floated over and came to a stop beside him.

When Clara saw her body lying on the ground, her eyes lit up. "That’s my body! And it’s still warm!" She joyfully drifted straight toward it, eager to return. But just like her brother, she couldn’t get back in, no matter how many times she tried.

"Why is this happening? Brother, I can’t get back into my body! What are we going to do?"

Corin spread his hands helplessly. "I’m in the same situation." As he spoke, the siblings turned in unison to look at Celeste Grant.

"Princess Consort, please, how can we get back into our bodies?"

"Princess Consort, what do we do now?"

Celeste Grant gave them a calm, level look and said, in a tone that didn’t sound like she was joking, "With my current power, I can only save one of you. So, which one will it be?"

The moment she finished speaking, both siblings chose the other to live without a shred of hesitation.

Corin: "Save my sister."

Clara: "Save my brother."

"What are you talking about? Don’t listen to her! My sister is still young, she doesn’t know what she’s saying! Princess Consort, please, you have to save my sister."

"No! Save my brother!"

Celeste Grant looked at them. Their eyes held nothing but the desperate wish for the other to live, without a single trace of selfishness. It was clear the bond between them was real and powerful.

’She thought of her own family—of her parents and her younger brother. Even though we’re not related by blood, they would do the same for me.’

"I choose for you both to live." As her words faded, Celeste Grant gave a gentle wave of her hand. In that instant, the soul bodies of Corin and Clara transformed into streaks of light and plunged back into their physical forms. The two bodies, which had been motionless just moments before, twitched their fingers and toes, and their eyes fluttered open.

Corin rolled over and scrambled up, feeling dizzy and disoriented. He had probably gotten used to floating, and the sudden return to a tangible body was jarring and unfamiliar. He took two steps and nearly stumbled.

"I’m back in my own body!"

"Clara, get up!"

He stumbled and staggered over to his sister, using his hands and feet to steady himself, and helped her up. "Clara, are you okay?"

Clara nodded excitedly.

Her soul had just returned to her body, and like her brother, she nearly toppled over after just a few steps. It took her a moment to readjust to having a physical form. Then, the siblings looked at each other, and immediately threw their arms around one another, tears streaming down their faces.

"Clara..."

"*Sob*... Brother, we’re really back! Look, here are my handsies, and I have feetsies, too!"

"I have them too. I have feet, too."

This is wonderful.

The siblings clung to each other, laughing and crying all at once.

Celeste Grant stood where she was, glancing at the frantic siblings. ’What’s with all this "handsies" and "feetsies" talk? It’s not like they didn’t have them before, is it?’
