Chapter 576 - 574: It Doesn’t Have to Be This Complicated, Just Grab Them
As her Divine Sense enveloped them, Celeste Grant could feel that the things occupying their bodies had a very strange aura.
She could immediately rule out the possibility of them being ordinary soul bodies. They weren’t Cultivators, nor were they monsters.
Celeste Grant stood there, making no particular move. Yet the brother and sister standing not far from her were filled with dread. As soul bodies separated from their physical forms, they sensed the powerful aura emanating from Celeste Grant, and it felt as if they couldn’t breathe.
’Just who is this Princess Consort? She’s definitely no ordinary person. Come to think of it, normal people can’t see us. But not only can this Princess Consort see us, she didn’t react at all. It’s as if... she’s completely used to situations like ours.’
The siblings exchanged a look, and their legs gave out as they dropped to their knees—an instinctive reaction of their soul bodies.
Celeste Grant withdrew her Divine Sense and glanced at the two kneeling before her. With a slight lift of her finger, an invisible force pulled them back to their feet. The chilling, instinctual pressure vanished, and their soul bodies felt no discomfort. It was as if they had imagined the whole thing.
They bowed slightly.
"Thank you, Princess Consort."
"Thank you, Princess Consort."
The siblings’ soul bodies stood there, their eyes filled with awe and respect for Celeste Grant, along with a great deal of unease. ’This Princess Consort is definitely no ordinary person. She must be an Immortal who has descended to the mortal realm. That has to be it.’
Celeste Grant glanced at them.
’I forgot,’ she thought. ’The soul bodies of these two siblings are very weak. I must have unintentionally let a sliver of my aura slip and terrified these two little spirits.’
Perhaps because they saw Celeste Grant looking their way, the two tensed up and hurriedly spoke.
"I... We won’t tell anyone."
"That’s right. We didn’t see a thing. My brother and I, our lips are sealed."
Celeste Grant glanced at them. "In your current state, how could you tell anyone?"
’The Princess Consort really doesn’t pull any punches.’
The siblings lowered their heads, looking utterly dejected.
’That’s true!’
’We’re disembodied soul bodies right now. To put it nicely, we’re out-of-body. To put it bluntly, we’re just wandering ghosts. The thought alone was enough to make them weep.’
The siblings, Silas and Clara, looked up at her and couldn’t help but ask.
"Princess Consort, is there any hope for us?"
"Princess Consort, does this mean we can never return to our bodies?"
As they asked their questions one after the other, Clara’s soul body clung to her brother’s arm and began to sob. ’We’re so miserable, truly, so miserable.’
Celeste Grant’s gaze fell upon them. ’For these siblings’ soul bodies to remain so pure after two years, untainted by even a trace of malevolent energy... It proves they are innately simple and kind. Even as soul bodies, they haven’t committed any evil deeds, let alone devoured other souls to strengthen themselves.’
Celeste Grant glanced at them and said in a low voice, "Not necessarily. It’s not a lost cause."
Hearing this, the siblings’ eyes snapped to her, filled with anticipation.
The siblings, Silas and Clara, spoke in unison.
"Really? Princess Consort, there’s still hope for us? As long as we can live again, we swear we will go through hell and high water for you without hesitation."
"Yes, yes! We would walk through fire for you, Princess Consort!"
Seeing how worked up they were, she raised a hand to stop them. "That won’t be necessary," she said quietly.
Seeing their expectant faces, she continued, "Your soul bodies aren’t tainted with any malevolent energy, so returning to your physical forms shouldn’t be a problem. For now, stay with me. Once I’ve dragged out the things occupying your bodies, I’ll send you back."
’Is... is this really happening?’
’We can go back to our own bodies.’
"SOB... Princess Consort, you’re too kind. From now on, my life is yours! Thank you, Princess Consort! Thank you!"
Overjoyed, Silas pulled his sister down to kneel and bow deeply.
"Thank you, Princess Consort."
Celeste Grant was still focused on the things occupying their bodies. So, without waiting for the siblings to continue their bowing, she gestured, and in an instant, the three of them vanished.
When they reappeared, they were in an alley in the western part of the city. It was a residential area for commoners, on the city’s outskirts.
Celeste Grant moved down the alley and then onto another street. After walking a little farther, she came to a stop beneath a peach tree.
To her left and ahead stood a house. It wasn’t large, but it was well-kept. Several peach trees grew near the entrance, and green vines crawled up the courtyard wall. A single lantern hung to one side of the door.
Before she could speak, the sibling soul bodies floated over. Their transparent forms drifted around the peach trees and the courtyard wall. A moment later, they flew back.
Silas spoke first. "Princess Consort, this is our home."
Clara nodded. "The things occupying our bodies are in there. Every time we’ve come back, we’ve tried to go inside, but we’re always repelled by some kind of force. We can’t get in. My brother and I can only watch our parents from a distance."
Celeste Grant looked toward the house. From the outside, it was indistinguishable from an ordinary home. But when she enveloped the residence with her Divine Sense, she discovered that the aura was strange, and the entire place was permeated with an unknown power.
She started toward the house, her figure passing straight through the wall without breaking stride. The sibling soul bodies, who had been following close behind, discovered they could now enter as well.
"I can get in!"
"Brother, I haven’t been home in two years! I’m going to check on Mom and Dad." As she spoke, her form shot off toward her parents’ rooms.
Meanwhile, Silas, still by Celeste Grant’s side, said, "Princess Consort, should I lead you to those two things? They’re in the courtyard."
He had just witnessed the Princess Consort’s abilities. ’If she can’t deal with those two things, then surely no one can.’
"No need to go to the trouble. I’ll just bring them here."
The moment she finished speaking, she reached out and made a grasping motion in the air. Instantly, two figures came spiraling through the air from different parts of the property, slamming heavily onto the ground before her.
"AHH..."
"Who’s there? Who dares to attack us? Do you have any idea who we are?"
Celeste Grant raised an eyebrow, looking down imperiously at the two sprawled on the ground. "Then why don’t you enlighten me? What exactly are you?"
The two on the ground were just about to push themselves up when an immense pressure washed over them, slamming them back down flat.
Sensing the danger, they stared at Celeste Grant with wary eyes. One of them spoke. "You’re no ordinary person. Who are you?"
