Chapter 431 - 430: Mother, You Secretly Got Pregnant with a Little Sister and Didn’t Tell Me
When they looked up to thank him, Aaron Sinclair was already gone. He had clearly left the area. If not for the chest of Spirit Stones on the ground, they might have suspected they’d just been seeing things.
But this was so many Spirit Stones.
"Brothers, let’s split these among ourselves."
"Boss, we followed you out here. You should take a bigger share."
"Bullshit. The Young Master gave these to all of us. We’ll split them evenly."
"Thanks, Boss."
Several Demon Cultivators squatted there, counting the Spirit Stones with grins they couldn’t wipe off their faces.
...
Aaron Sinclair used a Space Technique, returning to the Bloodfiend Den in the blink of an eye.
When he arrived at his mother’s residence, he didn’t enter the courtyard right away. Instead, he clung to the gate, peeking inside.
Just as he was about to step inside, someone appeared silently behind him and gently tapped his shoulder. "If you’re here, then come in. What are you doing, skulking around out here?"
A familiar voice sounded from behind, and Aaron Sinclair quickly straightened up and spun around. Seeing his mother standing before him, he burst out laughing. "Haha, skulking? Me? Definitely not. I was just trying to figure out the coolest pose to greet you with. Gotta make a good first impression on my little sister, you know."
As he spoke, Aaron Sinclair walked over and linked his arm with hers. "My dearest mother, you’re a party of two now. You’re the one who needs to be careful. Watch your step, and don’t trip."
"What are you talking about!" Celeste Grant said with a laugh, patting his head. "Do you think I’m made of glass? Like I’ll shatter at the slightest touch? I’m doing great. Even pregnant, I could still chase you for blocks."
Aaron Sinclair nodded repeatedly.
"Yep, yep. My mom’s the strongest."
Celeste Grant glanced at him. "Son, did you just get back?"
Aaron Sinclair nodded slightly. "Yeah! I just got back."
She smiled faintly. "So you know."
"Mhm," he grunted, feigning grievance. "I ran into a few disciples from our Bloodfiend Den while passing through a mountain range, and I heard the news about your pregnancy from them. Mom! How could you not tell me about something this huge?"
Celeste Grant chuckled. "I was worried you might be in the middle of seclusion, and I didn’t want to disturb you. That’s why I didn’t tell you immediately. Besides, look at you now—you found out anyway, didn’t you? Whether you heard a little sooner or a little later, it’s all the same."
He threw his head back and sighed dramatically, putting on an expression of utter heartbreak. ’It breaks my heart! To think I was the last one to find out. Am I not your real son anymore?’
Celeste Grant shot him a look and pulled him straight into the courtyard. "If you don’t believe me, you can try for a do-over. I can give birth to you all over again, and you can be the little brother next time."
As she finished speaking, Aaron Sinclair, who was walking beside her, gave her a look that screamed, ’You’re so cruel!’ "How can my own mother be so terrifying? I’m finally getting a little sister, and you want me to start over as the little brother? No way, absolutely not. I’m set on being the big brother in this life."
The two of them entered the courtyard as they spoke.
When they reached the stone table in the center of the courtyard, Aaron Sinclair obsequiously helped her to her seat. "Are you thirsty, Mom? Here, let your son pour you some water." After pouring a cup for Celeste Grant, he slid into the seat beside her. His gaze, however, immediately fixed on her stomach. In that moment, the eyes of Aaron Sinclair, newly promoted to big brother, shone brightly.
"Mom, how long have you been pregnant?"
Celeste Grant smiled slightly. "A little over a month."
Hearing that she was just over a month along, Aaron Sinclair did a quick calculation in his head. "Only a month? It’s still early, but that also means I’ll get to meet her soon enough."
"I wonder if it’ll be a little brother or a little sister..." He’d barely gotten the words out before he slapped himself lightly on the mouth. ’This stupid mouth of mine jinxes everything. Why did I have to say ’little brother’? It has to be a little sister, a chubby, beautiful little sister.’
His antics made Celeste Grant laugh, and she playfully smacked him on the forehead. "And if it’s a little brother, you won’t love him?"
Hearing this, Aaron Sinclair grinned. "Haha, of course not. I just want a sister more. But a brother is fine, too. It’ll be nice to have someone new to beat up."
"Well, that won’t be happening, because I’m carrying a daughter." The moment she spoke, a look of delighted surprise washed over Aaron Sinclair’s face. "Wow, really? You already know? Does that mean I’m really getting a sister?"
Wanting a sister was one thing...
...but actually having a sister was completely different.
’"Wanting a sister" meant it could still turn out to be a brother, but "having a sister" meant it was definitely, truly a sister.’ He reached out and grabbed Celeste Grant’s hand. "Mom, you’re really having a little sister?"
Celeste Grant nodded slightly. "Yes, it is. The little sister you’ve been dreaming of. You finally got your wish."
’Her son used to pester her endlessly about having another baby, until he eventually gave up hope. Now that she was suddenly pregnant, the boy must be over the moon.’
And sure enough...
Aaron Sinclair shot up from his seat, joyfully clasping his hands together. "Thank you, ancestors, for your blessings! Thank you, Dad, for your blessings! I finally have a sister!"
"Hehe..."
He stepped forward, his face full of anticipation. "Can I... can I feel?"
Celeste Grant smiled.
"Of course. You’re her big brother."
Aaron Sinclair crouched down in front of Celeste Grant. He reached out a hand and gently placed it on her stomach, then broke into a smile. "Little sister, I’m your big brother."
’He could already picture it: a tiny little girl calling him ’big brother,’ her arms outstretched, asking for a hug. Oh, the thought alone made his heart melt.’
"My little sister is going to be so adorable."
"Sweetheart, Big Brother is waiting for you to be born."
"Sister, when you’re born, Big Brother will take you out to play. Oh! And Big Brother will get you lots of little dresses and tons of toys."
Celeste Grant’s lips twitched.
She couldn’t help but laugh.
"Son, a little sister is adorable, it’s true. But have you considered finding a wife someday and having a daughter of your own? You’ll find that’s even more adorable."
Hearing this,
Aaron Sinclair stood up.
He waved his hand dismissively.
"No rush, no rush, it’s way too early for that! Right now, all I want is to hold my sister. One or two wouldn’t be too many... three or four would be great, too."
The moment he said that,
he got a sharp flick on the forehead. "Are you dreaming, Son? You should be happy you’re even getting one sister! And here you are asking for three or four."
He burst out laughing.
"Just kidding, just kidding! One is more than enough. How could I let you suffer like that again? I’ve heard giving birth is a terrible ordeal. So, having me and my sister is enough for you." As he spoke, he moved behind her and began to massage her shoulders. "And... Mom? Thank you for having me. You’ve worked so hard."
Celeste Grant gently patted his hand.
’Of course it’s painful to give birth; what woman has it easy? But the moment you hold your child in your arms, you feel that it was all worth it.’
His words made him think of his own absent father, and he couldn’t help but ask, "Mom, you’re pregnant... does Dad know?"
Celeste Grant nodded slightly. "Yes. He knows."
