Stardew Valley’s Farming Master

Chapter 265: A Burning Candle

Link was running himself ragged. On one hand, he had to make sure the Energy Tower was ready for its next upgrade; on the other, he was welcoming and managing new immigrants, treating their bodies, soothing their spirits, and injecting them into the lifeblood of the city.

This became the most important work of the moment.

Aside from his main duties, Link was also dragged into conducting physical examinations for the newcomers, keeping him busy from dawn till night.

Then, a new problem arose.

Because he wore so many hats—each one critical, and each one done exceedingly well—combined with the fact that his backpack still held large reserves of supplies, Link never had to compete with the immigrants for rations. To others, he seemed unusually “pure-hearted.”

As a result, he had amassed a staggering number of contribution points. So many, in fact, that Jon began to feel uneasy just looking at the numbers. Link sat at the top of the leaderboard with a total greater than the next four combined.

It wasn’t that he refused to redeem them—he just couldn’t. Nothing on the exchange list was worth his while. He couldn’t exactly empty out the city’s stockpile in one go, could he? Jon even half-joked that Link was saving up to exchange for the mayor’s seat itself.

Well… there wasn’t exactly a rule saying he couldn’t.

When the rumor reached him, Link was speechless for three seconds. That was stabbing Jon right in his obsession. After all, the mayor’s chair was Jon’s ultimate fixation—no one else could touch it, not even in thought!
