Reina looked sour, but Rin had expected it. She loved her sister deeply, but she had not been allowed to interact with her until now.

Actually, it was a miracle she hadn’t tried to find a way to contact Amelia yet. But Rin had a feeling it was because of his not-so-good condition.

"Reina, do you want to come with me and meet Amelia? She’s your sister and I am sure you are worried about her as well. You can accompany me to my office."

Reina blinked in shock and her mind took a moment to process what she was being asked.

"I..."

Her mouth opened and closed a few times as she considered what she should say. But she just nodded in the end and followed Rin.

One problem was taken care of, but Rin also needed to shake off his other two shadows before meeting the original MC.

Neither Shelly nor Teressa looked ready to leave him alone, so Rin had a plan.

"Shelly, Teressa, can you both do me a favor? I need you to train the new soldiers for me. I want to take them out during the next task, but I am not sure how well they will perform."

Teressa nodded but Shelly immediately refused, complaining.

"Why do you need them for that? Just take me with you. I can protect you all on my own and-"

"But Miss Shelly, accidents can always happen. What if your way is blocked by another monster and you are not able to get to Rin on time? Are you willing to risk his life over something this small?"

Shelly looked stunned. Her mouth opened and closed repeatedly and she seemed lost. Her eyes looked at Rin for help, but he was not sure what she expected him to say.

Teressa pressed her point further.

She leaned closer to Shelly and whispered something to her. Rin was not able to hear it, but whatever she said made Shelly’s eyes shine. She wasted no time in turning around and marching out of the room.

Rin watched her leave and turned to Teressa instead.

"What did you tell Shelly to make her leave? She’s not someone who changes her mind easily."

Rin was curious now. But Teressa put her hands to her lips and made a shush motion.

"This is a secret between me and Shelly. Don’t worry, I did not tell her anything that would put her life in danger. Do I look like someone who would harm others?"

Teressa asked in an innocent voice and she even crossed her heart to swear her words. She was pretending to be innocent but Rin was not falling for her scheme.

The succubus noticed this and immediately pouted. Her cheeks puffed out, giving her an even more alluring look. Even Rin wasn’t completely unaffected by her charms and he felt taken aback.

"What are you doing?"

"Trying to appear cute so that you would forgive me. Is it working? I can see your eyes softening."

"..."

Rin did not say much. He just sighed before deciding to drop the topic. Teressa also took his silence as an agreement and ran out of the room to join Shelly.

Silence filled the room and Rin turned toward Reina. Her expression looked troubled, and her brows were furrowed. It was hard to read what she was feeling at the moment, but it was likely nothing good.

"Reina, are you alright?"

He asked carefully, not wanting to worsen her mood. But Reina’s mood lifted at his question and she let out a huge sigh.

"I am fine. I just find Teressa’s fake concern offensive. How can she even make such an expression and not mean it?"

Reina’s answer was unexpectedly innocent. She was the type of girl who did not pay attention to things that did not concern her. He had often seen her interacting with people showing fake interest in her.

But because she was not interested in progressing her friendships, those interactions never led anywhere.

Rin did not know if Reina was simply ignorant or actively denying herself this knowledge. Not that Rin had time to help Reina figure out her thoughts.

He did not want to keep the original MC waiting for much longer. That man was an opportunist and who knew what web he had already started to weave?

Take Shelly for example. She had an inferiority complex in the original novel and that made it easy for the MC to keep her close.

But could you truly call the current Shelly weak-minded?

Then there was Reina, who had escaped her original fate and was currently standing beside him.

By that logic, even the original MC deserved a chance. Despite his shitty personality, he was someone incredibly resourceful.

Seeing how long Rin was taking, his butler decided to interfere. He coughed into his hand to clear his throat before he turned to look at his young master.

"Young Master, should I bring your guests to the medical wing? It might be easier for you to rest more comfortably this way-"

"No, it’s fine. I will meet them in my office. I need to leave a strong impression on our guests so that they won’t look down on me."

Collins frowned at Rin’s words. It seemed he had a lot he wanted to say, but he held his tongue and nodded.

"Then, I will lead your guests to your office in a few minutes. Should I make sure of anything else?"

"Make sure no one disturbs us while we are having our talk. But if there is urgent news, make sure you knock at my door to let me know."

Collins nodded and Rin stooped up. He looked at Reina’s nervous expression and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Don’t worry too much. I am sure it will be alright. You are about to meet your sister again, so at least try and smile."

Rin told Reina and she tried to smile. But it became grim immediately, letting her real feelings show on her face.
