My Childhood Friend Turned Yandere in the Apocalypse

Rin had a lot of questions. But he didn’t want answers to all of them.

In fact, he was sure that it would be better for his mental health if most of them stayed unanswered.

Teressa’s grip was beginning to hurt. Her nails were digging into Rin’s arm so he tried to pull his arm out of her grip. He failed.

His butler shot him a glance filled with pity.

’Don’t laugh at me. Even you would find it difficult to claw yourself out of the clutches of a determined woman. Have you never dealt with a rabid fangirl before?’

Rin tried to convey his thoughts, but his butler was too experienced to make eye contact with Rin. Thankfully, he did decide to help Rin by getting Teressa off him.

"Miss, our young master is in a fragile state. We need to be careful not to put any additional pressure on him. You should also not lean against him since it adds unnecessary weight on the young master’s side."

"Oh! You are right. I did not even notice it. Rin, do you want to lean against me instead? I will take all your weight."

Teressa loosened her grip just enough to make Rin lean on her instead. Nothing else about the situation changed.

’Fuck you! I am not so weak and delicate that I need all your help. I should not have agreed with Reina’s idea.’

It wasn’t too late to step in and fix things.

Teressa and Collin were two people who were rational enough to hear him out and understand his reasoning. It was a risk worth taking.

Unfortunately, Rin missed his chance to speak.

Shelly entered the room and her eyes widened as soon as she saw Rin leaning against Teressa. Rin had never seen that expression on her face before and his body tensed up.

"Shelly-"

Rin never saw her move. One second, One second Teressa was clutching his arm, the next she was on the ground with Shelly holding her down.

"What were you doing to him? He looked like he was in pain. Did you try to hurt Rin?"

"What are you talking about? I was just helping Rin out since he is sick. Don’t twist my intentions into something ugly."

Teressa immediately replied back and she used her abilities to push Shelly off. Invisible bindings wrapped around Shelly and tried to pull her off Teressa, but Shelly resisted, straining her arms and small cuts to appear all over her body.

This gave Teressa just enough wiggle room to sneak out from under Shelly and counter her with another attack.

"Don’t underestimate me. Do you think I will just sit back and take your attacks? I’ve lived longer than you, kid."

Teressa was losing her polite mask as well and her hand grabbed a knife from her inventory to attack back. Shelly fought against the binds but even she knew she wouldn’t be able to dodge.

This fight was getting much more dangerous than Rin expected. Shelly should have won in a direct clash but she had been taken by surprise. Rin decided to intervene before anyone got seriously hurt.

"Young Master, what are you doing?"

His head butler asked as soon as he noticed Rin grabbing a small bomb.

"Collin, block your nose."

That was all the warning Rin gave his butler before he threw the smoke bomb between the fighting pair. The bomb exploded almost instantly and Rin kept an eye on the situation.

[You have used a paralysis bomb. Two targets will not be able to move or use their abilities properly.]

Cough

Loud coughing noises filled the area and Rin stepped forward to check on the two. But his butler blocked his way. His eyes were heavy with concern and he passed Rin a wet piece of cloth. The butler had a wet cloth pressed against his nose as well.

’Where did he even get the water to wet this cloth?’

Rin opened his mouth to ask his question but the butler ignored his attempt and instead, pressed the wet cloth against his face.

The butler only let go once the smoke started to clear. Both Teressa and Shelly were frozen in place, unable to move and Rin quickly stood between them both to act as a wall.

"I think there has been a misunderstanding. Teressa, go get yourself checked out by Reina. Shelly, take some time and calm yourself down. I know you’re not used to having all these people around us, but none of them are our enemies."

Rin’s voice softened unconsciously when he talked to Shelly and her face showed remorse. No one moved for a moment and Rin felt like he had to interfere further.

However, Teressa decided to act at the last second and she bowed to Shelly.

"I apologize for causing the misunderstanding with my careless actions. I did not realize how sensitive you were when it came to Rin. I will be more careful in the future."

Shelly looked even more triggered by Teressa’s words and the tension started rising again This situation was beginning to resemble something out of a rom-com

As much as Rin wanted to feign ignorance to the underlying problem, his conscience wouldn’t allow it. He wanted something to come and save him from this mess-

The system spoke up, but its nonsense only added to Rin’s worries. The worsening situation was making his head feel heavy

[User, you stress out too easily. Tsk, how will you ever enjoy an office environment? I feel sorry for you. I pity you enough to give you a hint- if you want to resolve this situation, just act sick. It is guaranteed to work 100/100 times]

Rin buried his head in his hands and let out a tired sigh. The second he did this, his surroundings went quiet.

The sudden silence made Rin look up and he immediately noticed three pairs of concerned eyes looking at him.

"Rin, are you sick? Do you want me to get Reina?"

"Let’s go to your room. I will nurse you back to health. I will also shift into your room until you get better."

"Young Master, can you hear me? What can I do to help you?"

All three sources of his headache united as one to ask him what was wrong and Rin felt a little bitter that they were behaving better now than when he asked them to just a second ago.
