Chapter 140: The Beautiful Lawyer Sisters
Chapter 140: The Beautiful Lawyer Sisters
What a coincidence! Biying Law Firm—it turned out that the tall dimpled beauty whose Beetle he had commandeered that day to take Lulu to the hospital, Liu Yingying, was from Biying Law Firm. And he had even hired her as the legal advisor for Nuwa Company.
He never imagined she’d end up being involved in this matter.
“Why didn’t you hand these things to the police?” Zhang Yang asked, glancing at Bai Wensheng.
“It’s not that I don’t trust the police’s ability, but I can’t be sure they’d dare dig deep enough. The forces behind this are too powerful. I’m afraid they’d just close the case unresolved.” Bai Wensheng shot him a cold smile. “In this world, you’re probably the only one who’d actually want to get to the bottom of this.”
“You wouldn’t want the man who tried to kill you to go unpunished, would you?”
“Looks like you knew this day would come.”
“Of course. After the Spade Eight group failed their mission, I already expected my end. It just came sooner than I thought.” Bai Wensheng stood up, glanced at the nearby officers watching him, and said, “I have to go. I hope you succeed.”
Watching his back fade away, Zhang Yang sighed. Bai Wensheng had spent decades maneuvering through the business world—he saw through everything and was shrewd to the core. His final move was the right one, but far too late.
After calling Zhou Biyao, Zhang Yang drove around for a while before finally finding Biying Law Firm tucked away in an inconspicuous spot.
Looking at the pitiful signboard, he couldn’t help but feel deceived. This was supposed to be a law firm? The sign looked like it had been scribbled with chalk on a wooden board.
When he reached the office, he was speechless. The corridor was dim, cluttered with junk, and the front door had graffiti all over it—it looked like the place had been robbed recently.
Could Liu Yingying, that delicate beauty, really be working here?
He was greeted by Zhou Biyao herself—a stunning young woman with a tall figure, her hair tied neatly, wearing a black suit and a pair of obviously non-prescription glasses. She was clearly trying to project professionalism, though her pouty cherry lips gave her a naturally seductive look.
She couldn’t be more than twenty-six or twenty-seven. Running her own firm at that age was impressive enough to make Zhang Yang widen his eyes.
He glanced around and noticed their business license. Coincidentally, the establishment date was the same as that of his rehabilitation center. What a coincidence.
“President Zhang, you could’ve just called us. We would’ve come to you personally. Why go through the trouble of coming here?” The dimpled beauty busily served tea, speaking with excitement.
Zhang Yang smiled lightly. “It’s on the way. I’m just picking something up for a friend.”
“Picking something up?” Zhou Biyao adjusted her glasses and asked softly, “May I ask what your relationship is with President Qiu?”
“President Qiu?” Zhang Yang frowned. He didn’t know anyone by that name.
“The person who asked me to retrieve this item isn’t named Qiu,” Zhang Yang said, taking the hot tea from Liu Yingying and sipping it.
“Not Qiu? But right now, we only have two clients… oh, I mean, there’s only one other client who’s left something with us—President Qiu…” Zhou Biyao stammered, her pale cheeks turning slightly pink.
Zhang Yang finally understood—he was one of only two clients. What a joke! With a name like Biying, he’d expected greatness, yet they had only two clients?
“But my friend told me to find you. He gave me this code.” Zhang Yang handed her the client ID and password Bai Wensheng had given him.
Zhou Biyao looked at it and frowned slightly, her expression turning cautious. “How did this end up with you?”
“You must’ve seen him on TV. The man who asked me to get it is Bai Wensheng, president of Bai Pharmaceuticals. He left a will with you. The account and password are both in my name’s pinyin—he meant for me to have it.”
“I know. When he stored the will here, he told me so. Of course, he used an alias. But rumor had it that President Bai once tried to kill you—he even hired assassins and got caught when the plan failed. So why would he entrust something to you?”
“That, I don’t know. If you want to find out, go ask him at the detention center.” Zhang Yang looked at her. “Can I take the item?”
“Of course. He said anyone with the correct account and password could retrieve his will.”
“Thanks.” Zhang Yang nodded, then suddenly asked, “Since you know Bai Wensheng’s identity and crimes, why didn’t you hand his things over to the police?”
Zhou Biyao pressed her lips together, looked him in the eye, and said firmly, “We accepted the commission, so we have a duty to protect our client’s confidentiality.”
Zhang Yang nodded, not sure whether to admire her integrity or sigh at her naivety.
Zhou Biyao handed him a thick envelope. Feeling its weight, Zhang Yang could tell there was a USB drive and a stack of letters inside.
“Thank you.” He carefully placed it into his bag. Then, looking at Zhou Biyao, he asked casually, “You said earlier there are only two clients—you and Bai Wensheng?”
“Yes.” Zhou Biyao blushed again. “But believe me, President Zhang, our Biying Law Firm will grow strong soon.”
She was clearly afraid Zhang Yang would drop them as clients once he realized how small they were.
“You and Yingying just graduated, didn’t you?”
Zhou Biyao and Liu Yingying exchanged glances, then nodded silently.
“Ambitious, good! I wish you success.” Zhang Yang smiled. “Actually, I haven’t graduated yet myself.”
Hearing that, both women visibly relaxed. “Thank you for your encouragement, President Zhang!”
“But I have a suggestion.” Zhang Yang looked around their cramped office. “I recently rented a new office building as Nuwa Company’s temporary headquarters. There’s plenty of empty space. I can give you a section for free if you want to move in.”
“Really?” Zhou Biyao and Liu Yingying exchanged glances again, delight flashing across their faces—then quickly turned cautious. “President Zhang, we appreciate your kindness, but we’ll have to decline for now.”
Zhang Yang gave them a look that clearly said, “You think I’m a pervert?”
He chuckled. “Don’t worry. I don’t want anything from you. Think of it as payment for giving me this item. Besides, I can’t have people seeing that Nuwa Company’s law firm works out of a place like this.”
“President Zhang, are you serious?”
“Of course I am!” Zhang Yang thought to himself, Damn it, do I really look that much like a lecher?
“But I’ve seen your company’s recruitment ad—it said you only hire beautiful women, listed bust measurements, and even mentioned virgins… Plus, you’re always surrounded by gorgeous girls. You’re not planning to keep us like your last boss did, are you?”
Zhang Yang broke into a cold sweat. Damn it, Gao Qi! That stupid ad—now even these two beauties know about it.
