Chapter 203 203: The Coma
'This body is in incredible shock. I must shut it down.'
His shadow rose up and wrapped around him. Turning him completely black in front of Dr. Watson's eyes.
"What the?!" James widened his eyes.
Carter's plan worked as the skin was able to stabilize. He fainted.
His soul shot out from his skin and fused with his shadow.
[HOST has naturally awakend Astral Projection]
Carter looked at Dr. Watson and Dr. Watson looked at the weird shadow.
'A blessing in disguise...'
Carter squatted down and picked his own body up. He didn't say anything and acted like a mechanical puppet.
It was at that time that the door to the flat open.
Beatrice Cavendish saw what was happening within the room.
"You. Another witch?" Dr. Watson said.
"You know about us?" Beatrice said.
"I have the fortune to meet one of you before. I guess you also an acquaintance of Dr. Frankenstein?"
Beatrice nodded. He came over to the bed to look at the lifeless skin.
"He looked like he is dead. Fascinating." Beatrice said. "The energy of the Undead courses within him. Probably a side effect of selling his soul."
"What are you even on about?" Dr. Watson frowned.
Beatrice shook her head. She glanced at Carter who was currently the shadow at the moment.
"I guess you're still protecting him, huh?"
Beatrice sat on the bed and put her hand over the body of Shadow Apothecary. Her magic went over him.
"He should be fine eventually. His body was in shock because of a sudden influx of Necron Energy. I wonder why..."
She said that but she already had an explanation in her head. Selling your soul couldn't be a cheap price.
"You speak English but I can only understand like half of what you're saying." Dr. Watson said.
Beatrice shook her head. "I suggest you to find a nurse to take care of him. We don't know how long he might be in the coma for. I need to get back to the Coven... Again."
Beatrice left just as sudden as when she arrived. She now knew that the demon she saw was the same Prince of Soul that Victor Frankenstein was talking about. That was the only explanation why her divination led her here.
James took off his hat and slumped on the chair.
'This world is really going crazy.'
The dead people because of the pandemic. The Undead walking on the street. And now his roommate was being tormented by some demon.
'If only there were someone that could tell me everything.'
The shadow fell to the floor and followed Beatrice. The woman immediately used her spell to teleport away once she left the building.
'Careful little witch.' Carter thought to himself.
He returned to the apartment where his body lay peacefully.
'I wonder if I can switch skin at the moment'
Carter tried to switch skin.

'Well. At least I know now that I can't.'
Through all his enlightenment powers, he could feel that his body was slowly regulating. Intraspecies Animate Transmutation was something very special. Almost comparable to the enlightenment skills or the prince skills.
It worked its way through Frankenstein's body. Either he would wake up or he wouldn't. Only time would tell.
'Haven't do a silent role since forever. I guess it is time to try that.'
Dr. Frankenstein needed help to ensure his body was in good condition.
Carter helped Dr. Watson and Mrs. Hudson took care of his body. The two mortals were incredibly calm about everything that was happening.
Dr. Watson had to go to work so he took up Beatrice's advice and hired a nurse.
Coincidentally or not so coincidentally, that nurse was someone Carter knew.
A few days later.
The bell rang.
Mrs. Hudson opened the door. "Hello?"
"Hello, Ma'am. My name is Amelia Orchard. I'm here for the job. You need a nurse to take care of someone in a coma, right?"
"Ah, yes! Please come in!"
Mrs. Hudson opened the door wide and let Amy in. The girl was still cute and bright as ever. An innocent young woman in a world full of death.
They went to the second floor and Mrs. Hudson showed Amy's the flat.
"The man I need you to take care is actually a very famous surgeon. Have you heard of Dr. Frankenstein?" Mrs. Hudson said.
Amy nodded. "Everyone knows about Victor Frankenstein. He revolutionized medicine two years ago."
"Yes. Unfortunately, a genius mind always faces more hardships than other. This is him."
The doctor lay peacefully on the bed. Tubes went into his body to make sure he got enough nutrition for his body. Those were installed with the courtesy of Dr. Watson.
Amy dropped her bag in shock.
"You tell me that he is Dr. Frankenstein?" Amy opened her mouth wide.
"Surprise, aren't you? I was the same when I knew the doctor is so young."
Mrs. Hudson sighed. "Well. Get comfortable. I'll get you a cup of tea."
The old woman went away, leaving Amy alone with the patient.
The young woman sat on the bed. Her hand placed on his cheek.
He was cold as a corpse. But he was still breathing.
"Victor Frankenstein... Why did you hide your identity?"
Amy always remembered that stingy doctor that paid her only 20 shillings a day two years ago. He was Doctor Emmanuel Hugo. A brilliant mind, for sure. But nowhere comparable to the famous Dr. Frankenstein.
"And who can expect that you two are the same person." Amy sighed deeply.
She didn't like him back then because he was too serious and paid her too little. But now that she saw him, she felt pity. Pity for a great mind and for a person so young suffered so much.
She thought that he must have some kind of terminal disease.
"The tea is ready!"
"I'm coming, Ma'am!"
Amy left the room.
Carter rose up from the ground and looked at her leaving.
'Amelia Orchard. Shrine Maiden did see that you will be important to the story. But what are you really? As far as I know, you are just an ordinary woman.'
