Chapter 76: Terror Corruption
Carter returned to Luandon as Doctor Victor Frankenstein.
He had gathered the Wolf Blood from the attack on the Wolfmen tribes. He had Cursed Blood from Florence before. He also had Dead Blood from the Pale Undead.
With all three of these Pure Blood, Carter figured he would be able to discover something unique about this world Awakens.
When he returned to the Institute, nothing much had changed. However, he did overhear about a rumor about a secret society within the elites of Luandon.
’The Willis is being a little bit exposed because I ordered them to recruit more influential people. The First Generation has enough members already. We can close the book now.’
"Dr. Frankenstein! You have returned! We miss you so much!" Nurse Jenner greeted him with a smile.
"Really? Or do you miss me because there are a lot of surgeries?" Carter chuckled.
Nurse Jenner blushed and scratched her head, "I really can’t hide anything from you."
For the first few days after returning to the Institute, Carter took care of the most severe cases of surgery. He had to keep up his reputation as the best surgeon in the city.
Then he was finally at peace to continue his research.
’Hmm. There are four Supernatural Blood types in this world. The Corrupted Blood of the Mindless Infected. The Wolf Blood of the Wolfmen. The Dead Blood of the Pale Undead. And finally the Cursed Blood of the Witches. Each had a unique property of their own.’
The Corrupted Blood was the most unstable. The pathogens in these blood were uncontrollable. The original blood was too weak in order to keep the Corruption in check.
The Dead Blood was the direct upgrade. These specimens had enough strength to control Corruption and retain their consciousness.
The Cursed Blood had the highest amount of Corruption Concentration. This explained why Florence almost became a Mindless Infected back then even when her body was pretty resilient.
There was something else that within the Cursed Blood. Cursed Blood had Corruption in a very agile state. This meant that they could, theoretically, manifest Corruption as other things, other types of power, other types of hexes.
’I really need to find some actual witches to learn more about Cursed Blood. Florence is not technically a full-fledged witch.’
Wolf Blood took a different approach. Their blood had manifested into a certain genetic state, this granted the cell the ability to transform. It was different from Cursed Blood in the static and transformative state.
’Wolf Blood removes manifestation. It couldn’t manifest like Cursed Blood. But it grants them the ability to transform. But it doesn’t necessarily mean to transform into a wolf. The Wolf Blood only settles in a wolf genetic because it is best suitable to the Wolfmen.’
’This meant that, theoretically speaking, I can create a transformation ability with the right tools...’
Carter didn’t know how he could do that yet. He was still missing something. That was when he looked over to the Extracted Corruption.
’This thing... Which Corruption does it originate from? Undead, Wolfmen, or Witches?’
Carter had analyzed the Extracted Corruption for a while. Different from the Corruption Blood, this liquid was pure Corruption Pathogens. With the new knowledge he found from the Corruption Blood, he reanalyzed the Extracted Corruption.
’Hahaha! I understand now. Extracted Corruption. Extracted. This thing belongs to no Bloodlines and therefore remains completely free of their influence. Primrose Quinton, huh... I need to find her and figure out where she gets this thing.’
Carter could also find a way to extract pure Corruption by himself but that would require a lot of time and efforts. If he could find the source, he could replicate it.
Carter then prepared all the Pure Blood for further testing.
[ELDRITCH KNIGHT EQUIPPED]
The Prisoner could absorb Corruption from the Dead Blood. He was testing whether it could also absorb the Corruption from other Pure Blood.
[Lost x3 Cursed Blood]

The Prisoner breathed now. It could absorb all the Corruption from any type of Pure Blood.
[Eldritch Knight has naturally awakened a new ability]
’Oh? There is a surprise after all.’
[Eldritch Knight’s ability]:
- Terror Corruption: Once the timer of the Eldritch Armor runs out or when you decide, you may transform into an Eldritch Terror and go into berserk mode. Berserk mode raises all your stats and temporarily raises your Star Level.
’Another transformation? I really need to test this ability to see how strong it is.’
Carter had left Terrorstate for a few months now. He intended to go back to that world to make sure everything was still in order. Additionally, there were still secrets within that world that Carter had not yet discovered.

Carter also needed to check how much his ’Superhuman’ project was going. He left the task for Nina and Quill. The Primers from the Cyber Runner was also a threat too. He must check if thing was still under control.
’A lot of things to do back there. But I need to settle the matters within this world first.’
Dr. Frankenstein needed to excuse himself from the Institute. He could easily create some reasons like going away for further research.
Dracula had no problem disappearing. He was the Prince of Blood after all. And Carter already had Delilah and his children to take care of the vampire territory.
’I should order Thomas and Eleanor to bring the candidates to the City of Ghosts, solidifying Dracula’s power. Then I can leave.’
The next day, Carter submitted his long leave to the Enthrall Institute. It was only a formal process as no one dares to stop the Head of Surgeon from taking leave.
The board accepted his leave without questions.
When he exited the meeting room, nurse Jenner approached him.
"Some woman is here to see you, Dr. Frankenstein."
"Who is it?"
At first, Carter thought it was Florence, or Primrose, or Amelia. But none of them knew about his change of identity. They only knew him as Dr. Hugo. So they shouldn’t be here.
"She said her name was Beatrice Cavendish."
