Chapter 212 I Want To Be Your Man
SOPHIA’S POV
My body felt like it didn’t belong to me anymore. It was heavy, weak, and burning all at the same time, like my strength had been drained out completely and replaced with nothing but exhaustion.
Even breathing felt like effort, as if my lungs had forgotten how to work properly. I could hear the sound of the machines beside me At least, that reminded me that I was still alive.
Zade’s words echoed in my head.
“I want to be your man.”
“I’ll take care of you.”
“I love you.”
I didn’t know when I stopped resisting. Maybe it was when I saw the tears in his eyes. Maybe it was when he held me like I was something precious, something he was terrified to lose. Or maybe it was because I was simply too tired to fight anymore.
My fingers moved slightly, gripping onto his sleeve weakly.
“Zade...” I whispered.
He leaned closer immediately. He stayed with me all night again.
“I’m here,” he said softly.
I closed my eyes slowly. I felt my body giving in to the weakness. My thoughts had started to get hazy
“You can... stay,” I murmured,. “If you want...”
There was a brief pause. Then, I felt his hand tighten around mine.
“I’m not going anywhere,” he replied “I’m all yours”
I didn’t argue. I didn’t question it.
In that moment, I let him. I let him stay, let him call himself mine.
And before I could even think any further, I fell asleep again.
-
When I woke up, it was dark.
The room was quiet. For a moment, I didn’t move. My mind was still half-asleep, trying to catch up with reality. Then the cold hit me.
I felt a deep, uncomfortable chill that entered my bones.
I shivered slightly. I tried to pull the blanket closer to my body but it wasn’t enough. My body was still weak, still struggling to regulate the warmth I needed.
“Cold...” I whispered softly.
Before I could even open my eyes fully, I felt movement beside me.
“I knew you’d wake up,” Zade’s voice came quietly.
My eyes slowly opened, and I turned my head slightly to look at him.
He was there.
Sitting right beside the bed, his eyes were fixed on me. It was as if he had been watching me the entire time. His presence was different now. It felt calmer, but still intense, like a wolf that had settled down but remained alert.
“You came back...” I said weakly.
“I never left,” he replied.
I frowned slightly. “You weren’t here when I woke up earlier.”
“I stepped out for a moment,” he said. “But I came back.”
There was something about the way he said it that made my chest tighten slightly.
“Why?” I asked quietly.
He didn’t hesitate. “Because I said I would stay. I meant it.”
My heart beat a little faster.
“I told you,” he continued. “If I’m your lover, then I’ll act like it.”
The word again – Lover
It sounded strange coming from him, but at the same time... it didn’t feel wrong.
I looked away slightly. I didn’t know how to respond.
“You don’t have to think about it too much,” he added, noticing my silence. “Just rest.”
I didn’t argue, but the cold didn’t go away. Instead, it seemed to get worse. I shivered even more.
Zade noticed immediately.
“You’re still cold,” he said.
I nodded slightly. My body trembled a little.
Without saying anything else, he stood up and walked around the bed. Before I could even react, he lifted the blanket slightly and slid in beside me.
My eyes widened in surprise.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Keeping you warm,” he said simply.
“You can’t just-” I started, but stopped when I felt his arm wrap around me.
He pulled me gently but firmly against him. His body heat surrounded me instantly.
I froze in shock, but I didn’t push him away. Because... it felt warm, too warm. Him being next to me felt way too comforting.
“You’re burning up,” he murmured. His voice was close to my ear. “And yet you’re cold. Your body is confused.”
I let out a small breath. My body slowly relaxed against him. for some reason, this felt right.
“This is inappropriate,” I said weakly, though there was no strength behind my words.
“You didn’t say no,” he teased.
I couldn’t argue with that.
He shifted slightly behind me, pulling me closer. His arm tightened around my waist.
For a moment, neither of us spoke.
The silence wasn’t uncomfortable. It was... quiet. It was peaceful.
But my mind wasn’t. my thoughts drifted to Ashley.
The thought of her suddenly filled my chest again. I was worried about her. I really wanted to see her.
