Chapter 83: Mom is back
Seoha’s POV
This morning starts calmly.
The birds are chirping...I never knew there were birds around.
The mansion is quiet in a disturbing way, but I keep my eyes shut to savour this moment, just lying in bed with Sooin and Taesan.
Sooin wakes up first and snuggles into me while holding her father’s hand, when we don’t wake and talk with her, she starts to sing.
And her cute voice brings me out of my half asleep state.
It’s the weekend, which means we get to have it to ourselves, maybe I can get Taesan to take Sooin out on a father-daughter date.
I sneak out of the bed with Sooin, promising to make a very delicious breakfast if she lets her dad sleep longer, and she cutely agrees.
"Daddy, if I’m a bear, can you be a bear too?" the little girl asks, holding on to the end of the shirt I am wearing, the one Taesan gave to me last night.
"If you’re a bear, I’ll be a bear" I agree with her and she squeals, running around the table excitedly.
"Daddy, aunty Yuki and uncle Taesan are my best friends, but you and dad are my biggest best friends" she says as she climbs into her seat.
"I’m glad you like me and your dad, you know he loves you, right?" I ask her, stirring the pot of steaming Kimchi jjigae.
"Yes, I know" Sooin sings.
The smell of the food reminds me of my grandma, this is how she makes hers, taking her time and giving it her focus.
I should call her soon...she must be worried sick about me.
"Daddy, why are you sad?" Sooin asks, breaking me out of my thought.
She hugs my waist tightly and I pat her head with my free hand, "I was just thinking about someone" I say before moving us away from the stove gently.
"Dad? Are you sad because of dad? I will scold him" the little pup says, making me smile, and I bend to kiss her cheek.
This little girl is everything I dreamed of in a pup.
I remember talking about having a pup with Daeshin once and he laughed, he said I should focus on getting his ring first, I should be the perfect omega.
’Seriously, Seoha, you’re adorable, if you ever leave this safe place, the world would tear you apart’ he used to say whenever I spoke of my dream or plans.
Leaving him was hard, but now I feel proud.
I am living my dream as a designer, I get to look after a pup as if she’s mine and I get to be...cared for by an alpha with a good heart.
"It’s done cooking baby" I say softly.
"It’s hot! It’s hot!" she giggles and claps.
"Stay there, I’ll serve your meal, go sit" I tell her and start to dish the meal. I serve Sooin’s, mine and also Taesan’s.
"Eat a lot" I say brightly and just as I place the food in front of her, the sound of heels clicking against the tiles grabs my attention.
Sooin starts to eat and I look over my shoulder.
Miss Choyeon.
The woman’s arms are folded across her chest, her luscious brown hair is resting over her shoulder, she has on light make up and is wearing a designer outfit.
"Hello" I greet and she nods at me.
"How old are you?" she asks coldly, taking a seat directly in front of Sooin.
The tone and the haughty look makes me cringe, and I subconsciously place my hand on Sooin’s shoulder.
"I’m twenty-three, I will be twenty-four soon" I say quietly and she hums.
"Aren’t you too young to be living off a man nine years older? Don’t you have parents?" she asks.
"Daddy" Sooin calls me softly and I lean into her.
"Aunty Choyeon is mean, I don’t like it" she whispers to me, accidentally spitting food to my face, and I laugh it off.
"Don’t talk with your mouth full, Innah" I say and wipe the food residue off her cheek and mine.
"Sooin-ah, you’re eating a lot these days, doesn’t your belly hurt?" Choyeon asks and I growl softly, the woman doesn’t hear me but Sooin does.
The pup looks up at me with round eyes and I give her a small smile.
"She needs to eat more, children need good food to grow well" I say to Choyeon, daring to be brave enough to speak for the both of us.
Choyeon’s glossy lips stretch into a smile and she flips her hair over her shoulder before leaning forward, she takes her eyes off me and looks right at Sooin.
"Baby princess" she calls Sooin and it burns my chest.
My omega is enraged at the obvious mocking tone.
"Yes?" Sooin responds, she is more focused on her breakfast than the game her supposed caretaker is playing.
"Your mom is back" Choyeon says and this time I don’t hold back my growl.
"Mom?" Sooin asks with her mouth full as she looks up, "but I have daddy, I don’t need mom" she says innocently and I see Choyeon’s smile twitch.
"Sooin-ah, your mom-" Choyeon starts.
"I think you should let her eat, ma’am" I say in a calm voice and Choyeon gets up slowly.
She wipes invisible dust off her clothes and beckons for me to follow, which I do.
I walk behind her till we stop by the door of the kitchen and Choyeon cocks her hip.
"Do you think a child will want a stranger more than their real parent?" she asks me and I shake my head.
"No ma’am, but I think it’s unfair to play with a child as emotional as Sooin like that" I say and she nods slowly, stepping forward to dust off my shirt.
"You still dress like trash, your...sex marks are showing" she says and lets go of me.
"Your words are too crude" I say weakly and she scoffs, dropping her smile for a colder expression.
"I don’t know what you think you are, or what you think this is, but I’ll tell you the truth that no one else will" she drops her voice, moving even closer and stepping on my toe.
"Ah" I complain, but she adds more pressure and I clamp my mouth shut.
Sooin would get worried if she sees me in pain.
"Choyeon-ssi" I call.
"You’re a trash omega that is here for an alpha’s money and knot, pack up soon, his real omega is back" she says.
Roh Jaemin?
"You’re hurting me..." I say through clenched teeth and she finally acknowledges me.
"Ah, sorry" she says with fake sympathy and takes her leg off me.
"You know, Taesan’s omega would never just stand there, he is confident...beautiful and smart, ah, did I mention that he isn’t a thief?" Choyeon says and my eyes fill with tears.
Why is she doing this to me? What does she gain from hurting me?
My toes throb even after she has taken off her feet, and when I open my mouth to ask her to stop acting this way, the sound of a running engine stops me.
"Oh, that’s Taesan’s Bentley" Choyeon says and her mocking smile returns.
"Yes sir!" the loud voice of the gate man from outside says, and it dawns on me that Taesan is going out.
"He didn’t tell me anything earlier..." my omega whines.
We hear the noise of the gate being opened and Choyeon taps her finger to her chin.
"Hmm, it sounds like Taesan is leaving...to where? To his true love?" she asks and my chest feels tight.
I want to yell and tell her to stop, but instead, I turn around to walk away from her.
Sooin needs me...
