Leisurely Farm Life in Beast World

Chapter 1244 - 1243: The Black Quicksand

"Is that mountain really so far away?" The old Shaman asked curiously.

Ji Nuan forced a bitter smile. "Not only far, but also really dangerous. On the way, we encountered Red Scorpions capable of piercing the defenses of fifth-level orcs, and there was also a massive sandstorm."

"We almost died in that sandstorm. Luckily, Shaman Ji Nuan was passing by and saved us," Harry said with a laugh.

The old Shaman sighed. "For orcs unfamiliar with the desert, traveling in it is indeed a perilous endeavor."

"Other than the continent behind the mountain, are there other places?" They couldn’t just turn back, or the journey would be far too short.

The old Shaman nodded. "There’s another truly dangerous place that I’ve only heard of. They say it’s the edge of the desert, an expanse of black quicksand emitting a strange odor where neither beasts nor orcs can survive.

The closest place to that area is the Cabran Oasis. It’s occupied by the Xida Tribe — they might know something about it."

Cabran Oasis? Xida Tribe?

It seems that after trading for the Twin Peaks Beast, they would have to make a trip to this Xida Tribe.

Moreover, if they wanted to reach the other continent, they would probably need to cross that area of black quicksand mentioned by the old Shaman.

The group chatted for a while longer before dispersing, each returning to their cave to rest.

After washing up, Ji Nuan sat on her kang bed, grappling with a dilemma, as Xiu Yan entered, still carrying traces of moisture on his body.

He saw his little companion sitting with two outfits laid out on the bed: one made of cotton cloth, and the other the beast skin garments they usually wore.

"What’s the matter?" He climbed onto the bed and pulled his little companion into his arms, his deep voice resonating by Ji Nuan’s ear.

Ji Nuan gazed at the two outfits on the bed, her expression full of concern. "I’m wondering whether or not to wear the cotton cloth clothing. Our cotton cloth supply isn’t abundant—if it gets damaged, we’ll have none left."

Xiu Yan looked at his little companion nestled in his arms, already wearing cotton sleepwear, and couldn’t help but have the corner of his mouth twitch fiercely.

Clothing made of cotton, so easy to ruin—yet I see you’re wearing it every day?

The strong survival instinct in him warned that this was not the time to voice such thoughts.

"Although we don’t have much, it’s enough for you to wear for a long time. We orcs have rough skin; wearing beast skin garments is fine for us."

The implication was clear: Leave the cotton cloth for yourself; I can just wear beast skin.

Though he said it pitifully, Xiu Yan still carried two sets of cotton garments that Ji Nuan had made for him back in the tribe in his backpack.

He rarely wore them while hunting, only putting them on at home, so they remained quite new.

"It would be nice if there were plants that could directly grow into clothing."

Xiu Yan pinched her nose lightly. "Going that far, are you thinking of plants that can grow roasted meat and stir-fried meat too?"

Ha, this orc was too much—now he seemed to take more and more pleasure in teasing her.

If only life was like that first meeting...

Thinking of how they first met, Ji Nuan choked slightly...

Forget it—she felt that things now were quite good. After all, not every first meeting is beautiful, and hers certainly wasn’t.

Early the next morning, the area outside the caves of the Sahara Tribe was bustling with activity. Even the old orcs, females, and cubs had come out to move about.

It seemed as though there were no cold seasons—old orcs continued gathering to grind the hardest bones of wild beasts into weapons, while the females prepared to go out foraging.
