Chapter 1228 - 1227: Go Find Shaman Ji Nuan
The orc guards moved the giant stone blocking the cave entrance aside, and a group of orcs filed out. Nearby, the giant stone of another large mountain cave was also pushed open, and Chief Hasa emerged with several orcs.
Seeing the old Shaman and the group of orcs, Hasa seemed slightly bewildered. "Uncle Shaman, what are you all doing at such a late hour? It’s very dangerous."
The old Shaman noticed Hasa wrapped in thick Beast Skin, followed by several orcs, and frowned. "What are *you* up to?"
Hasa paused for a moment, then turned his gaze to the young orc behind the old Shaman. "I was just about to head to your cave to ask about these double-humped beasts. If they keep crying like this, we’ll all be in danger."
The young orc lowered his head even further.
The old Shaman glanced at him briefly. "I came out because of this issue as well. I’m planning to take him to see Shaman Ji Nuan to see if we can borrow some dry grass to feed these double-humped beasts."
At this, Hasa finally understood. So the dreadful cries from the double-humped beasts were because they were starving!
"Then I’ll go with you."
The old Shaman nodded. Chief Hasa gave a quick command to the orcs behind him and then accompanied the Shaman on their way to Ji Nuan’s cave. When they arrived at the entrance to a cave, they called out to the orcs living inside—it was inhabited by other members of the Mogor Tribe.
The large group moved through familiar tribal grounds, but even so, it did little to ease their nerves. The orcs vigilantly scanned their surroundings for any sign of movement.
After a tense journey, they finally arrived outside Ji Nuan’s cave.
The old Shaman cleared his throat, about to call out, when the stone door abruptly swung open. Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan stepped out, both clad in warm, thick cotton clothing.
Seeing the old Shaman and the large crowd of orcs behind him, Ji Nuan couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth. "You brought so many orcs to my cave at this late hour? That’s enough to scare anyone."
The old Shaman gave a bitter chuckle in response. "I had no other choice. Today, the Mogor Tribe’s orcs showed up in the tribe, but their double-humped beasts haven’t eaten anything for a long time and have been crying this whole time.
We’re worried their cries might attract desert wolves, so I came to ask Shaman Ji Nuan if we could borrow some dry grass to feed them. Tomorrow, they’ll go hunting and trade the game they bring back with you."
Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan had already heard the cries from outside, especially since the beasts were so close to their cave. It was impossible to ignore; the noise was loud enough to keep any beast awake. They had been planning to step out and check the situation anyway.
"So that’s what’s happening. Their double-humped beasts must be near my cave, right?"
The old Shaman was caught off guard by the question and turned toward Hasa for confirmation.
Hasa responded with an awkward laugh. "Yes, because there are too many of them, and there wasn’t a large enough cave in front. So this afternoon, we dug out one nearby."
Ji Nuan didn’t press further and simply turned around, gesturing for them to follow behind. "Come on, I’ll take you to get some."
Xiu Yan held a torch in his hand, the flames illuminating their surroundings and casting a faint warmth.
He continued to keep the smaller female orc hugged tightly against him, wrapping her snugly with his cloak.
They arrived at the last cave, where Xiu Yan pushed the stone door open and walked inside with Ji Nuan.
"Shaman, you and the chief can bring a few orcs inside to move the dry grass. The space is limited, so not too many orcs can enter."
Ji Nuan’s voice echoed from within the cave.
The old Shaman, Chief Hasa, the young orc, and several members of his tribe entered together.
