When did their cave become so warm?

After being dazed for a moment, the crackling sound brought him back to reality. Ada followed the sound and saw flames burning inside a mud-constructed object not far from him, radiating a soothing warmth.

This isn’t the cave he shares with his younger brother. Could they still be in Shaman Ji Nuan’s cave?

"Ah~ Brother, you’re awake?" A hoarse voice sounded beside him. Ada turned his head and saw Awa sitting up from the beast skin mat nearby.

"Are we still in Shaman Ji Nuan’s cave?"

Awa nodded: "Yes, Shaman Ji Nuan said once you sleep soundly and wake up, she will begin treating your leg."

Ada’s heart trembled with anticipation, his eyes filled with hope: "If it can truly heal, that would be amazing."

"Brother, you have to trust the Shaman. The potion you drank today was so magical! This is the first time I’ve seen you sleep so peacefully in ages."

Awa spoke with full confidence, envisioning the day he could hunt side by side with his brother again.

Ada was also overtaken by his confidence, as though he could already see himself chasing prey across the desert once more.

"Should we go find Shaman Ji Nuan now?"

Awa chuckled, then took a ceramic pot off the stovetop: "It’s already very late. Shaman Ji Nuan has gone to sleep. The effect of the potion on your body won’t fully dissipate until lunchtime tomorrow, so there’s no rush."

Having said that, he helped Ada sit up against the unlit stove, then lifted the lid off the ceramic pot in his hand. Instantly, a rich aroma wafted out.

Ada couldn’t help but swallow a mouthful of saliva: "What is this food? It smells incredible!"

"It’s meat soup taught to me by Shaman Ji Nuan. It’s absolutely delicious. This portion was saved especially for you today. Once you finish eating, rest well and prepare to be healed."

After finishing the food, Ada and Awa drifted into dreams filled with hope for tomorrow’s treatment.

The next day, the wind outside the cave still howled as always, accompanied by the sounds of sand and rocks pelting against the entrance—lively and chaotic.

With Xiu Yan protecting her, Ji Nuan cautiously opened the stone door a crack to peek outside. The scene outside instantly made her retreat back into the cave.

It felt as though something toxic were burning, permeating the air with the taste of sand and dirt. Breathing became almost impossible.

Even more frightening, the entire outside was a churning sea of yellow sand, making it impossible to see even a step ahead.

"It feels like the air is full of sand. Just breathing brings countless grains into your nose—it’s unbearable." After shutting the stone door, Ji Nuan gasped harshly and finally felt alive again.

Hearing her audible reaction, Awa opened the kitchen door and walked in: "Shaman Ji Nuan, you’re awake."

Ji Nuan nodded: "Has Ada woken up?"

"He woke up early, very early, but he was afraid of disturbing your rest, so we stayed quiet the whole time." Awa looked somewhat nervous but filled with anticipation.

"Have some food first." Xiu Yan handed a bowl of meat soup to Ji Nuan. The soup, no longer fresh off the stove, was now warm and comforting. Drinking it brought a cozy warmth to her body.

"Ah~ it’s so delicious." She handed the empty bowl to her dependable Orc companion and then turned to Awa: "Have you eaten yet?"

Awa rubbed his hands together, a bit embarrassed: "We have. Yesterday’s leftover meat soup was heated up on the stovetop this morning."
