Chapter 1186 - 1185: The Great Horned Beast
The orc’s eyes sparkled as he looked at his mate, nodding expectantly: "Yes, Shaman Ji Nuan said that the thicker firewood burns longer."
The female chuckled: "When you trade with them, split it up. Trade half of the thick firewood for the exchange, and for the thinner firewood, use half of that amount.
When we deliver the firewood to Shaman Ji Nuan, separate them as well. It’ll make it more convenient for her to use."
The orc happily hugged his mate and planted two firm kisses before cheerfully going to sleep.
So early the next morning, after assigning tasks, he took several orcs with him to gather firewood from nearby small tribes.
But unexpectedly, just as they stepped out, they saw a pair of Twin Peaks Beasts heading toward their tribe, led by an exceptionally sturdy Silver Wolf Orc.
Though he was in beast form, the familiar scent on the orc made the middle-aged orc recognize who it was – Shaman Ji Nuan and her mate.
As the group approached, the middle-aged orc and the tribesmen behind him slowly widened their mouths in amazement.
The bodies of wild beasts piled high on the Twin Peaks Beasts – if they weren’t mistaken, those were Horned Beasts, even more troublesome for orcs than Desert Wolves.
These creatures were formidable in battle, rivaling Desert Wolves, often hunted in groups. But unlike Desert Wolves, these beasts would escape immediately if they felt outmatched.
They frequently ambushed small tribes or the hunting teams of various tribes. Every year, countless orcs perished because of them.
Once, several large tribes assembled a massive team of orcs to hunt these cunning creatures.
Yet every time, over half would manage to slip away, evading capture with their elusive tactics.
This allowed their numbers to gradually grow, making them the most widespread beasts in the desert.
They had become the greatest threat to orcs.
No one expected Shaman Ji Nuan and her protector beast to return after just one night with so many Horned Beasts. Though treacherous and fierce, their meat was incredibly tasty.
"Shaman Ji Nuan, did you travel back overnight?" The middle-aged orc led the tribesmen forward to greet them.
Ji Nuan nodded: "We were woken up in the middle of the night by their attack. We killed some and brought them back."
"With this much prey, let my tribesmen and I help you process it," the middle-aged orc said respectfully.
Ji Nuan glanced at the prey behind her, her mouth involuntarily twitching. If it were just the two of them handling it, it would take forever.
She quickly nodded: "That’s wonderful. Let’s do that then."
The middle-aged orc nodded, leaving two orcs behind, one of whom was the tribe’s Hunting Team Leader.
The middle-aged orc entrusted the task of trading firewood to him: "This matter is up to you while I take the tribesmen to assist Shaman Ji Nuan with the prey."
The orc nodded solemnly; the tribe’s food supply depended on it, and he would handle it responsibly.
This time, they had brought back a staggering forty-six horned creatures, a testament to their sheer numbers.
Xiu Yan and the middle-aged orc worked together to process the prey. By the time the midday meal approached, all the prey and beast skins had been cleaned and stored in the Food Storage Cave.
Ji Nuan exhaled deeply, handing over one horned beast to the middle-aged orc and his team.
The middle-aged orc refused politely, saying they were merely helping out and couldn’t possibly accept food from the esteemed Shaman.
