Chapter 601 - 600, Awakening_1
"Brother Xiu Yan is gone... he’s gone..." Ji Nuan lifted her eyes, her gaze on Grandma Shaman seemed to be veiled in a layer of moisture, hazy and unclear.
The courtyard was eerily quiet, the female’s tears, like broken beads, continually slipped down her cheeks without a sound of crying.
Even though her eyes were red and swollen from crying, she stubbornly stared at the direction of the courtyard gate, as if a tall figure could walk in at any time. She longed to see the moment when those icy eyes melted when they looked at her.
The cool breeze swept across her face, blowing Ji Nuan’s hair away from her forehead, sweeping away her tears and bringing a chill that jolted her out of her thoughts.
Blinking her incredibly sore eyes, she realized that she had been sitting here for an entire afternoon. The afternoon of release seemed to have taken something away and also seemed to have settled something. Ji Nuan patted on Grandma Shaman’s warm hand: "You go back first, I want to be alone for a while, you don’t need to worry."
Grandma Shaman’s eyes reddened, and in the end, she sighed without saying anything. Ya Li glanced at Ji Nuan, moistened his lips, and slowly left the courtyard, constantly looking back every few steps.
Ji Nuan tried to force a smile, but eventually gave up with a lack of strength.
It doesn’t matter, if she can’t smile, then she won’t.
She got up and walked to the edge of the pool. The water that had been sunned all day was warm and very comforting to the touch. It gently brushed her cheek, much like the gentleness the aloof and arrogant orc had shown her.
Cleaning up her dishevelled self, she entered the kitchen and quickly finished the remaining sweet and crispy porridge from lunch, then washed the dishes clean.
She calmly walked into the bedroom, pulled the beast skin blanket onto herself, and closed her eyes.
With a glimmer of hope, she drifted into dreamland. Tonight, they would say their goodbyes. In the days to come, she would dedicate all her time to the tribe, and then, she would proudly go to meet Brother Xiu Yan at Lord Beast God’s place. He would surely wait for her.
On the morning of the third day, when the orcs of the Watson Tribe tiptoed past Shaman Ji Nuan’s courtyard, they found that Ji Nuan, who had not stepped outside for a few days, was in the courtyard with her beast skin bag around her arm.
"Shaman, where are you going now?" Ya Li looked at this small female who seemed unchanged yet also somewhat different.
Ji Nuan looked at this tall orc beside her and said with a faint smile, "I plan to select some tribal people to form a healing group in the tribe and teach them about medicinal herbs and healing knowledge."
Ya Li’s pupils contracted sharply, "You... are going somewhere?"
Seeing his stiff face and the tension in his eyes, Ji Nuan shook her head, "I just want more tribespeople to be able to heal. I cherish the life that Lord Beast God has given me. You’re thinking too much."
Ya Li, whose thoughts had been seen through by Ji Nuan, awkwardly scratched his beast skin trousers.
"What are you going to do right now, I..." Ya Li looked sincerely at Ji Nuan.
It was then that Ji Nuan finally noticed something odd about this orc. She turned to face him, looking seriously at Ya Li, "Ya Li, Brother Xiu Yan’s death had nothing to do with you. I hope you don’t blame yourself for this incident. Given the circumstances at that time, if it weren’t for you, we may all have been killed. You are a warrior of the tribe. You did nothing wrong, you understand?"
