Chapter 548 - 547, Admitting the Mistake_1
Observing the orc’s grief-stricken face, Ji Nuan felt no empathy. She responded with a pained look, "This is truly unfortunate, but I’ve been away from the tribe for too long. I was already planning to leave after bringing Meng Tai back, but because there were so many injured orc, I treated them. However, my tribe is still waiting for me to heal them. I’m afraid I can’t go to the Serra Tribe."
Mo Zhu had always thought this shaman to be a very agreeable female, for the Monte Tribe and other small tribes aligned with them had received significant aid from her. He had even planned to construct a large, magnificent tent for the shaman, but he was surprised by her outright rejection.
Mo Zhu looked dumbfounded at the lofty Shaman Ji Nuan. Her face, as always, was devoid of the affable expression she wore while treating the orc of the Watson and Monte Tribes. Even though she still looked at him with a full smile, she seemed distant.
Mo Zhu was flabbergasted; this was nothing like he imagined. Aren’t shamans supposed to be kind?
(Haha! As if your resident shaman is so kind!)
Seeing Mo Zhu standing there looking bewildered, the shaman disciple on the side sighed helplessly. He rose to his feet and bowed respectfully to Ji Nuan before speaking, "Shaman Ji Nuan, this disaster has caused massive harm to all our tribes. We’ve lost many precious beast companions, and the Lord Beast God would surely grieve if his children were hurt. We hope that in consideration of our shared faith in the Beast God, you could come and heal our tribe."
The orc seemed humble, but his words hinted at a trap.
Ji Nuan instantly grew colder. She looked disdainfully at the Orc who was still maintaining a deep bow, "Based on your words, if I don’t save the Serra Tribe, it means I’m neglecting the Lord Beast God’s children to die and that I don’t truly believe in the Lord Beast God, right?"
The orc bent even lower, "We hope that Shaman Ji Nuan would go and treat our tribesmen."
Ji Nuan stood up, chuckling coldly, "Indeed, how could I simply watch the Lord Beast God’s children die? After treating the orcs of Monte Tribe, I must hurry back to the Eneru Forest to treat the orc there. After all, those orcs are also children of the Beast God, and it’s wrong of me to neglect them. I need to go and seek forgiveness from the Lord Beast God."
After saying this, she left Clan Chief Meng Zhuo’s tent along with Xiu Yan, heading back to her own. Before departing, she dropped a word of caution to Clan Chief Meng Zhuo, "Chief Meng Zhuo, unless it’s a severe injury, don’t come looking for me. I need to go apologize to the Lord Beast God."
The orcs left behind in the tent looked at each other, confused. Apologize to the Lord Beast God? How?
Meanwhile, the orcs of the Monte Tribe were overjoyed. The damned Serra Tribe didn’t get to recruit Shaman Ji Nuan, and that felt like a victory.
Observing the disheartened expressions on the faces of Mo Zhu and the young shaman brought a wave of cheer to the recently morose Clan Chief Meng Zhuo. He even warmly invited the orcs from the Serra Tribe to join them in feasting on the fragrant roast meat.
While the Monte Tribe’s orcs were gorging themselves, the Serra Tribe’s orcs were forced to eat the tantalizing roast meat with distaste, feeling both resentment and heaviness in their hearts.
As the night arrived, the insects in the forest started their concert. Their chirping rose and fell, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
