Chapter 332 - 331, Tracking_1
Confronted with Little Snow Fox’s accusation, the crafty Silver Wolf Orc’s only response was a smug glance.
Knowing she couldn’t win against the relentless chatter of the orc, Ji Nuan obediently crawled into the tent to sleep. In no time, a chubby Little Silver Wolf cub had snuggled into the sleepy arms of Ji Nuan.
Ya Li bore witness firsthand to the Silver Wolf Orc’s series of shameless antics. He was in absolute shock. He thought the Silver Wolf he’d known was a much more reserved beast.
Shaking his head in dismay, he had misunderstood the beast indeed.
The early morning in the forest was somewhat damp, dawn dew dripped from the lush green leaves, gathering together and pattering down like the familiar ticking of a clock from Ji Nuan’s past.
The orc on duty had set up a fire outside. Xiu Yan and the others had caught some game, cleaned it thoroughly, torn it into suitable pieces and placed them on large leaves.
Ji Nuan didn’t sleep well. Even with thick, dry straw as a bed, she could still feel the heavy dampness seeping up from the ground, and her body felt chilly and uncomfortable.
Coming out of the tent, she washed with the warm water handed to her by Xiu Yan. Ji Nuan had the orcs fill three stone pots with water, into which she then added several types of herbs.
"Once the water in this pot boils, everyone drink some. The dampness last night was too heavy, it’s easier to get sick."
The orcs all nodded in agreement. Ever since yesterday’s hygiene lesson, the orcs held nothing but respect for the shaman Ji Nuan.
The loud-mouthed Little Luo Zhi had no idea what was waiting for her -- a bowl of bitter decoction.
Little Luo Zhi struggled in vain, but eventually Ji Nuan managed to get half a bowl of the bitter liquid into her. The whole way, she lay on top of Mo Qi’s head, pointing her bottom towards Ji Nuan, leaving her amused yet exasperated.
Xiu Yan was constantly frowning, cautiously scanning their surroundings; something didn’t feel right.
Ya Li wandered over, his gaze serious: "I have a bad feeling."
Xiu Yan’s thin lips curled into a nod: "I can’t figure out what’s wrong, there are no strange smells in the area."
"Squeak Squeak Squeak!!!" Little Snow Fox’s alarm interrupted their thoughts. They saw a white puffball being pulled out of a large pit by an orc.
Ji Nuan walked over and hugged the trembling little creature: "You naughty thing, what were you doing digging holes? Fell in, didn’t you?"
But the little fox just snuggled obediently in Ji Nuan’s arms, clinging to her beast skin clothes without letting go.
Xiu Yan and Ya Li walked over: "What hap..."
Suddenly, Xiu Yan’s eyes hardened: "This smell..."
Pointing at the collapsed hole, Ya Li squatted next to it, and extended his tongue, as if seeking something in the aroma.
After a while, his expression turned icy: "It’s the smell of an orc."
"So we really are being tracked."
Xiu Yan thought for a moment, then turned to Kaja and the others, asking, "Are there any orcs in the Serra Tribe that dig holes?"
Kaja thought for a moment and replied with a somewhat grim expression: "There’s a Mole Orc."
As expected, Xiu Yan and Ya Li glanced at each other: "What exactly does the Serra Tribe want?"
"Did Mo Na have this beast follow us?" Ji Nuan asked looking at Xiu Yan.
Xiu Yan’s handsome face darkened, and he told Ya Li, "Leave it to you."
