Chapter 66: Forgotten City: The Shore [6]
The monster heard this word and felt mocked.
The cat-like monster had kept the gorilla monster from getting attacked by Aegon, giving it enough time to get hold of him and use him as a toy.
Yet, after all that, this human was unharmed. It was safe to say that although the monster did not understand the word that came from Aegon’s lips, it still felt mocked.
Even the monster mages up in the air saw that Aegon was unaffected but didn’t look too surprised.
They had anticipated this and already took the necessary measures to counter it.
Having the feeling of being mock, the gorilla monster felt a sudden rush of anger in its body and even Aegon could see it, as its face had already turned red and full with rage.
"Oh boy..."
That was all he could say as he knew what was about to happen.
He tried to break himself free but that was very much impossible as the monster had no intention of letting him go.
With this, the gorilla monster turned around with Aegon in its hand. It held Aegon by his legs, his body upside down, his hand straight down.
The gorilla monster faced the cat-like monster who was blazing with fire and looked at it with its expression of rage.
This rage wasn’t for the cat-like monster but for the human which it held in its hand.
Both monsters locked eyes as if they understood each other and the cat-like monster began to approach the gorilla monster.
Aegon, seeing all these, was intrigued by what their plan was.
The cat-like monster had the power of fire, and the gorilla had the strength of a thousand gorillas; yet after all that the gorilla did, Aegon felt nothing.
This was the case and everyone knew it, even the other monsters and the mages.
So the gorilla came up with an idea; even though it was the one carrying out the work, the original idea came from the mages who had created it.
The gorilla monster also walked towards the cat-like monster, their size neatly the same but because the gorilla walked on two limbs and the cat on four, the gorilla was taller.
There was a small distance between them, as the gorilla held Aegon with its left hand and stretched him far away from its body.
It was at this place where Aegon was, the cat-like monster moved to.
It stood in front of Aegon, the heat coming out of it was so hot and burning that it could melt a person’s skin, just from being close.
However, that wasn’t the case of Aegon. He simply stayed relaxed and unaffected, letting them do as they please.
The gorilla held him, and the cat-like monster was at his front. He was like an ant in-between two fully grown elephants.
He would almost not be seen from a distance, that’s just to show how tiny he was in their midst and there were little over a hundred more of them.
Even with this, Aegon still looked unfazed, and the cat-like monster seeing his expression felt a surge or rage in its body.
Of course this wasn’t particularly from the monster but from the monster mage it had affinity to.
Feeling this, the cat-like monster opened its mouth and breathed fire from it, pouring it directly on Aegon in hope to burn him alive.
Aegon saw the rush of fire as it was coming to him and instinctively covered his eyes from seeing the redness of the flame.
As the flame touched the space around him, it warped, and instead of dissipating, the flames were re-routed back to the cat-like monster.
However the flames didn’t affect the cat-like monster, because it was already made of fire, but, it still moved backwards.
On the other hand, the gorilla monster wasn’t so lucky.
The fire had somehow reached the hand of the gorilla monster and even though it had the strength of a thousand gorillas it couldn’t endure the burning heat of the flames.
Feeling the pain in its hand, the gorilla monster flung Aegon away and started trying to remove the fire from its hand by blowing it,
But this was impossible as the flames spread fast like widefire.
Since the gorilla monster wasn’t given the power of mana manipulation and without the help of the monster mages, it was being covered and swallowed by the flames.
During this delicate moment, its eyes caught the ocean and had forgotten what its mission was.
Seeing the ocean, it rushed towards it, the ground shaking from every step it took.
However, it was unable to make it on time as the flame had already consumed its entire body and was turned to ashes from down its legs, to up its hands and head.
The gorilla monster, already turned ashes, dropped on the ground and in that moment a wind blew and carried with it, the ashes, away into the ocean.
Aegon watched this happen and was certain that could have been him if it wasn’t for the absolute deflection field.
It acted as both a barrier and also as a re-direction field of protection from any attacks, either physical, energy, or conceptual.
He was on the ground and knew this was far from being over.
The gorilla monster might be no more, but there were still over a hundred others, with majority having the power to wield mana.
He shifted his gaze to his dagger which was on the ground; closed to the cat-like monster.
The dagger wasn’t in a good shape, and was probably not even possible to be used in fighting anymore.
’Tch.’
Aegon got up on his feet, and all the gaze of the monsters which were on the ashes of the gorilla monster as it faded away; then suddenly shifted to the human who had just stood up from the ground.
Most of them were shocked that he wasn’t dead yet, he was a tough one. But how could he? He had the absolute deflection field ability on his side.
Aegon locked eyes with the cat-like monster.
And the cat-like monster understood that he was ready for a fight, so the monster turned its head to where his dagger laid.
It was as if the monster was telling him, ’won’t you come and take your weapon?’ and if he did, it was ready to try again to blast him with its flames.
Aegon saw this and took his eyes off the monster like he wasn’t going to do as it had thought. His gaze turned and shifted up to the mages.
With a piercing gaze beaming with purple, and a cold expression, he took his first step, clenching his fist engulfed in mana, then, the words left his lips.
"I think I have played enough with you guys."
