Chapter 7 : Chapter 7
Chapter 7: Multiple Perfumes, Ryan’s Gratitude
This mint-scented perfume was only the basic version.
Ryan conducted many additional tests, adjusting the ratios of materials and incorporating various flowers unique to this world. In the end, he successfully created three new types of perfume.
One basic version and three special variants.
With these four perfumes, he should be able to open up the market in the early stage.
After completing the perfumes, Ryan immediately brought them to Kaya for her to try.
“Aunt Kaya, this is something I recently made called perfume. Please see if you like it.”
“Oh? Let me take a look.”
A hint of surprise flashed across Kaya’s face.
What entered her sight was an exquisite crystal bottle, containing a faint pink liquid.
“This is called perfume?”
“Yes, Aunt Kaya. You can spray some onto your hand and see if you like the scent.”
“Alright, I will try it.”
As soon as Ryan finished speaking, Kaya took the crystal-clear bottle.
Her slender fingers gently grasped the frosted surface of the bottle, and with a slight turn of her wrist, she aimed the silver nozzle at her open palm.
Her thumb slowly pressed down. With a soft “hiss,” two drops of transparent fragrance fell into her fair palm like morning dew.
She set the bottle down, brought her palms together, and gently rubbed them a few times, spreading the liquid evenly across her hands.
Her fingertips brushed against the cool fluid, carrying a faint trace of sweetness.
Then she tilted her head slightly and slowly raised her hands toward her nose, her elbows tracing a soft arc in the air.
The moment her nose twitched, a crisp minty fragrance rushed into her senses, like a breeze carrying morning dew sweeping across an entire field of mint.
Kaya’s eyelashes trembled. The corners of her lips, which had been slightly pressed together, unconsciously lifted. Her eyes lit up as though tiny stars had fallen into her pupils.
“Mmm, it’s so refreshing, and very fragrant. It smells wonderful.”
“I’m glad you like it, Aunt Kaya.”
“Ryan, where did you buy this thing called perfume?”
Kaya had already taken a liking to it.
She could not help but think how wonderful it would be to use this perfume every day, making her whole body smell pleasant.
After all, what girl in the world does not love beauty?
Kaya might appear mature, but she was only twenty-nine years old.
By the standards of Blue Star, she was still undeniably young.
“Aunt Kaya, I bought the materials and made this perfume myself.”
Ryan spoke calmly, delivering words that shocked her.
“W-what? You made it yourself?”
Kaya’s eyes widened instantly.
She had assumed that Ryan bought it from a shop with the money he had earned.
She never expected that he had crafted it himself.
Although she had always known that Ryan was mature and intelligent for his age, she had never imagined that he could achieve something like this at just ten years old.
“Ryan, you must not lie to me. Tell me the truth—did you really make this yourself?”
Kaya fixed her gaze firmly on him.
“Of course I’m not lying. Or have you ever seen this kind of perfume anywhere before?”
Ryan explained calmly.
He knew that the perfume he had created was somewhat astonishing.
Other children were still apprentices or assistants.
Yet he was already capable of producing such a promising product—of course it would arouse suspicion.
But he had no choice.
If he wanted to quickly accumulate funds to manufacture weapons, this was the only way.
“No… I have never seen anything like it.”
Kaya fell silent.
As a woman, she clearly understood how appealing this perfume would be to women.
Without exaggeration, if this perfume could be mass-produced, it would generate immense wealth every single day.
In a world where the average annual income was less than 1 Gold Coin, one could imagine just how enormous that fortune would be.
Thinking of this, Kaya suddenly felt alarmed and quickly asked, “Ryan, you still have the formula for making this perfume, right?”
“Yes, Aunt Kaya. The formula and the process are both in my hands.”
Ryan nodded slightly.
“That’s good. Then why did you bring this perfume to me today?”
Kaya asked.
“Aunt Kaya, I want to sell this perfume as a product, including its formula and production method.”
“But under your name.”
Ryan revealed his true intention.
This was the real reason he had brought the perfume to Kaya.
No matter how talented he was, in the eyes of others, he was still just a ten-year-old child.
If people discovered that the formula and process were in the hands of a child, what awaited him would undoubtedly be forceful seizure.
Thus, his plan was to have Aunt Kaya act as the nominal creator.
By selling the perfume under her name, he could remain behind the scenes and earn money safely.
Kaya thought for a moment before speaking slowly, “You worked so desperately before… it was all for this, wasn’t it?”
“That’s right.”
Ryan nodded.
“I needed to save enough money to buy the tools and materials.”
Hearing this, Kaya nodded in relief.
She was relieved because Ryan had a plan and was not blindly working just for money.
Now that he had used his earnings to create such a product, it was clear that as long as the perfume continued to sell, he would never lack money again.
In her eyes, for a child like Ryan who lacked magical talent, becoming a wealthy merchant was the greatest happiness.
If Ryan knew what she was thinking, he would definitely complain.
Aunt Kaya, I’m not earning money just to become rich.
There was a saying on Blue Star: “While my neighbor stores grain, I store guns—then my neighbor’s grain becomes mine.”
Without weapons, wealth alone would eventually fall into someone else’s hands.
Thus, Ryan’s goal had always been clear—the various weapons within the Armament System.
As long as he could arm himself, whether it was those who wished to harm him or those who coveted his perfume, he would be able to deal with them calmly.
“Hehe, Ryan, I agree to your request.”
Kaya said with a smile.
Seeing that a child she had raised possessed such ability made her, as the head of the orphanage, extremely happy.
For children like Ryan who lacked magical talent, being able to live a prosperous life was already the greatest blessing.
She was just an ordinary woman. Although she had some magical talent, it was far from exceptional.
Her only wish was for the children in the orphanage to live safe and happy lives.
“Thank you, Aunt Kaya. Don’t worry, I will give you 10% of the perfume’s profits.”
Ryan raised his head and said.
“Hm? Ryan, what are you saying? There’s no need to give me a share. You will need money in the future—keep it for yourself.”
Kaya frowned.
“No, Aunt Kaya, please don’t refuse so quickly,” Ryan said hurriedly. “Even if you do not need money, the orphanage does.”
“I know that all these years, you have been using your own savings to support the orphanage.”
“But how much savings can you still have? What will happen when it runs out? Can the orphanage rely solely on the occasional fees you earn from casting Healing Magic for townspeople?”
Ryan spoke slowly.
For a moment, Kaya fell silent.
He was right.
The orphanage had always struggled financially.
She could manage for now because of her savings, but what about the future?
Would the orphanage have to close?
However, she felt uneasy accepting money from a child she had raised.
Ryan was not a mage. His future livelihood might depend entirely on the perfume.
If he shared his earnings, would it affect his own life?
These were all concerns weighing on Kaya’s mind.
Seeing her hesitation, Ryan immediately said, “Aunt Kaya, there is no need to worry about me.”
“First, I was able to create this perfume at the age of ten. As I grow older, I will definitely create even more products. I will not lack money in the future.”
“Second, I am also part of the orphanage. You have taken care of me for so many years. Now that I have the ability, I should repay the orphanage and help improve the lives of the younger children.”
After saying this, Ryan quietly looked at Kaya.
He believed she would understand.
After a long silence, Kaya suddenly burst into laughter.
“Alright, alright. I accept. I will gratefully take this 10% share—but do not regret it later.”
“Aunt Kaya, I will never regret it.”
“Honestly… boys really grow up before you even realize it.”
“Hehe…”
Ryan laughed bashfully.
“In that case, I will contact Mark and have him handle the sale of the perfume. What do you think?”
Kaya asked.
“Mark? I think that’s a good idea.”
Ryan nodded.
He had already considered Mark when planning to sell the perfume under Kaya’s name.
After all, Mark had once taught him business knowledge.
If there was an opportunity to make money, it was only right to prioritize one’s own people.
Moreover, Mark’s family was a professional merchant family. Their scale and connections far exceeded anything Ryan could match.
Thus, authorizing Mark’s family to sell the perfume was the most efficient choice. He and Kaya only needed to collect their profit shares.
“Then have you decided how to distribute the profits?”
“I will take 20%, you take 10%, and the rest will go to Mark and his family. They will be handling most of the work, so it is only fair.”
“Mm, that is well considered. In that case, I will inform Mark to come tomorrow so we can discuss it in detail.”
“Alright, Aunt Kaya.”
