Chapter 6 : Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Fina’s Scolding, Making Perfume
At noon the next day, Ryan slowly woke up.
“Ugh…”
He felt soreness all over his body.
“It looks like I’ve been pushing myself too hard lately. My body is protesting. I cannot keep overworking like this.”
Ryan shook his head and let out a bitter smile.
“Ah… Ryan, you’re finally awake.”
The person who appeared in his room was a Beastfolk girl of the same age as him—Fina.
According to Kaya, both he and Fina had been discovered by her together.
Fina belonged to a Beastfolk subrace known as the Snow Wolf Tribe.
Her appearance was almost identical to that of a human.
The biggest difference lay in her ears.
Her beast ears were positioned on both sides of the top of her head, about two fingers apart.
They stood upright, about three inches long, with sharp tips that tilted forward at roughly fifteen degrees.
Her ears could move flexibly, and when they turned toward a sound, the skin at their base would tighten slightly.
“Uh… Fina…”
Ryan greeted her.
“Ryan, this is unacceptable! How can you be so careless with your own body!”
Fina scolded him angrily.
“Aunt Kaya already came to heal you. You only fainted because of excessive fatigue. Ryan, you cannot keep doing this. Aunt Kaya, I, and everyone else in the orphanage were very worried about you.”
“I’m sorry, Fina. I will not do this again.”
Ryan apologized repeatedly.
He was not lying. From now on, he would no longer be short on money, so he certainly would not push himself like he had over the past twenty days.
“Really?”
“Really. I swear!”
“It had better be true.”
Fina crossed her arms over her chest and spoke in a soft but firm tone.
Then, she took out 80 Copper Coins from her pocket and placed them beside Ryan.
“Here, this is the money I earned recently.”
“Hm? Why are you giving me money?”
“Don’t you like money? Take it, and stop taking on so much work. If you keep this up, your body will break down.”
Fina spoke in a subdued voice.
“Uh…”
Ryan felt helpless.
It was obvious that Fina did not believe what he had just said.
She thought he worked so much because he loved money. Afraid that he would continue after recovering, she had taken out all her savings.
“No need, Fina. Trust me—I will not make you worry anymore. The money I earned recently is already enough for me.”
Ryan returned the money to her and explained patiently.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure—absolutely certain!”
Ryan nodded emphatically.
“Alright then.”
Fina nodded and took back the 80 Copper Coins.
She had grown up with Ryan since childhood.
The two of them were childhood sweethearts with a deep bond.
She did not want to see Ryan die from overwork.
Not long after, Kaya also arrived.
When Kaya saw that Ryan had woken up, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Ryan, you child… You are only ten years old. You cannot take on so much work. This time, you fainted after returning to the orphanage. What if you faint outside next time?”
“Uh… Aunt Kaya, I know I was wrong. I will not do it again.”
What else could he say?
He could only lower his head and accept the scolding.
“Good. As long as you understand. From now on, you must return to the orphanage before nightfall. You are not allowed to go out again at night.”
Kaya directly set a rule for Ryan—he had to return before dark.
In the entire orphanage, only Ryan needed to follow this rule.
Well, that was not entirely accurate.
The other children either lived at their workplaces or returned before nightfall.
Ryan was the only odd one.
After finishing his daytime work, he would still go out at night to take on another job.
That was why Kaya specifically made this rule for him.
“Alright, I promise.”
Ryan agreed helplessly.
It seemed that his collapse had truly worried everyone.
With so many people caring about him, his heart felt warm.
The reason Ryan agreed so readily was that he had already completed his initial accumulation of capital.
Next, all he needed to do was recreate products from his past life on Blue Star using the materials of this world.
…
One day later, Ryan had fully recovered.
He was now searching through various shops in the town for the items he needed.
What kind of products made the most money?
Without a doubt—products for women.
What he intended to “invent” was perfume.
That’s right.
He planned to recreate perfumes from his previous life on Blue Star in this world.
In his past life, he had once watched videos about making perfume out of boredom.
The process was still vividly clear in his mind.
Soon, he found the materials needed to make perfume.
Moonlight Flower extract, Windbreath Mint, and Ice Spring Water.
These were the three most suitable materials he had discovered while studying with Mark.
Moonlight Flower extract came from white trumpet-shaped flowers that bloomed only on full moon nights. Its extract carried a crisp, cool fragrance and could serve as the base of the perfume, enhancing the diffusion of the scent.
Windbreath Mint had silver leaves that swayed with the airflow. When crushed, it released a penetrating, refreshing aroma that could balance the heaviness of richer scents.
Ice Spring Water was sourced from beneath glaciers. It carried a faint mineral scent and could extend the longevity of the perfume without disrupting the layers of other fragrances.
These three materials were not particularly rare in this world.
Ryan currently had savings of 3 Silver Coins.
He took out 1 Silver Coin to purchase the materials.
The remaining 2 Silver Coins were used to buy equipment for production, including a distiller, a purification device, and an extractor.
These Magic Tools cost a total of 2 Silver Coins.
At this point, all preparations for making perfume were complete.
Next came the production process.
First, place all the Moonlight Flowers into the distiller and extract their essence through low-temperature distillation.
Second, wash the Windbreath Mint and let it dry. Then place it into a sealed container, add an appropriate amount of alcohol, and let it soak for seven days before filtering out the infusion.
Third, purify the Ice Spring Water and set it aside.
Fourth, prepare a crystal bottle. First pour in Ice Spring Water, filling about 40% of the bottle. Then add Moonlight Flower extract, about 30%, followed by Windbreath Mint infusion, another 30%. Gently stir to mix evenly.
Fifth, place the mixed perfume into a sealed container and store it in a cool, dry, and dark place to age.
The aging process takes about one month. During this time, the fragrance will gradually transform from harsh to mellow and rich.
Sixth, after aging, filter the perfume using a mesh to remove any impurities or sediment, ensuring its purity.
Finally, pour the filtered perfume into an exquisite perfume bottle and seal it for storage.
Thus, a bottle of mint-scented perfume was complete.
