Chapter 15: Balance Dancer
The bullet flying toward Lin Qi was deflected by Alden using the Rose of Truth, striking Alden in the chest.
"Uncle!" Lin Qi caught Alden from behind as he fell.
"It's okay, Isaris. Listen to your uncle for a moment." Blood stained Alden's suit, like a bright rose painted on his chest.
"Since you've decided to walk the Transcendent path, you have to work hard. Your uncle is just an ordinary person. There's nothing I can teach you. Take this sword. It's the Forbidden Object passed down through the Roland family for generations. It's called the Rose of Truth... it is..."
Alden's voice grew faint.
The critical-hit flame-enchanted bullet had destroyed his heart. That was Lin Qi's strongest attack, and it had hit the uncle who loved him the most.
"Uncle, don't talk. Everything's going to be okay..."
Lin Qi pressed down on Alden's bleeding chest, trying to stop his fading life. His vision blurred again, but this time he couldn't tell if it was Isaris's body reacting or his own emotions.
Ever since he came to this world, Alden had taken care of him. In his previous life, he was an orphan, but in this life, he had an uncle who loved him.
He envied Isaris. At least Isaris had met his parents. At least he had an uncle.
Lin Qi wasn't a machine. He had feelings too. Watching the man who had once handed him a bag of gold coins slowly lose warmth in his arms, he felt emotions he hadn't felt in a long time—sorrow and grief.
"I'm sorry, Isaris. Your uncle can't stay with you to the end." Feeling his life slip away in Lin Qi's arms, Alden slowly reached out his hand.
Lin Qi lowered his head. A large, warm hand rested on top of his head. Just like when they first met, facing the two dead assassins in the living room, that gentle man had placed his hand on his head and said to him:
"Don't worry, Isaris. Leave it to your uncle."

"Don't let him provoke you, Isaris!" Elaine, understanding Green's intent, shouted.
"Don't worry, Green. I said I'd kill you, and I will. Since you won't come to me, I'll come to you!"
With that, Lin Qi used repulsion to propel himself forward, flying toward Green at incredible speed.
"Damn it. He's even faster than Alden."
Caught off guard, Green was hit hard by Lin Qi's sword. The tremendous force came through the blade. Whoosh—Green was sent flying by a single strike.
Crash! The airborne Green embedded himself in the wall of the main hall.
"Incredible, young master Isaris. I've changed my mind. I won't kill you. I'll take you to the church and get this powerful Sequence out of you."
Green pried himself off the wall with effort.
"Did you forget something? If you've got the skill, come and try." Lin Qi looked at Green and said calmly.
Green stood up and looked. Elaine was holding that Forbidden Object revolver aimed right at him, just like Lin Qi had done moments ago!
Can you guys fight fair or not?!
"Young master Isaris, they're Sequence 9s. There's nothing wrong with outnumbering someone, but you're a Sequence 8 just like me. Isn't that a little low?"
Green knew he might be done for today, but he was still stalling for time, waiting for the priest to arrive.
"You're dead. Jesus couldn't save you even if he showed up. I said so." With that, Lin Qi shot toward Green like a bolt of lightning.
Lin Qi's swordsmanship was far inferior to Alden's, but his strength and speed were overwhelming.

"Wait, young master Isaris. We can work together. I know many of the church's secrets. If you just spare me..." Facing the threat of death, fear appeared on Green's face.
"Spare you? Give me back my uncle's life!"

A spray of blood gushed from Green's neck. Plop. His head hit the floor. The manor fell silent.
Clang. The Rose of Truth fell from Lin Qi's hand.
Completely drained, he collapsed onto the ground with a thud. He covered his eyes with his arms, as if trying to block out someone's departure.
"We need to hurry, Isaris. The Eternal Blazing Sun Church's priest might arrive any minute." Elaine handed the Judgement back to him.
Lin Qi stood up, took the Judgement, and picked up the Rose of Truth.
He looked at Alden's body on the ground, unable to bear the sight.
Then, the door opened.
To Lin Qi and Elaine's astonishment, a man walked in.
He was around thirty years old, wearing a well-fitted suit and frameless glasses. A diamond earring glinted on his ear. His smiling face had a few drops of blood on it.
It wasn't his own blood. It was someone else's.
"Sorry. Looks like I'm still a little late." The newcomer shrugged and tossed the head in his hand onto the ground.
Thud, roll, roll. Bathed in moonlight, Lin Qi recognized the head rolling toward him.
