Chapter 14 : Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Uncle
"Being able to switch the sword between a flexible blade and a straight sword? Interesting." Lin Qi raised the Judgement and aimed it at Klingel.
"Can't let you get close. That's a little dangerous." Lin Qi said this and fired a shot at Klingel.
Bang.
With the sound of the gunshot, Klingel disappeared from where he stood.
"Creating distance? Nice try." Klingel activated Fire Walk the moment Lin Qi fired, closing the gap.
Just as the sword named Envy was about to stab Lin Qi, a longsword suddenly appeared in his hand.
Clang!
The two swords collided. The burst of sparks illuminated the bullet flying toward Klingel.
Klingel quickly retreated backward and turned his sword into a flexible blade, flicking the tip to deflect the bullet that was about to hit his left leg.
"You're a real pain, you little Isaris brat."
"Is that so? Thanks." Lin Qi scratched his head and showed an embarrassed, sunny smile.
"Red egg, who's praising you!" Klingel was furious. He raised his hand and hurled a twenty-centimeter fireball at Lin Qi.
Sun Sequence: Sequence 9 Believer skill, Candle Flame: Summons a fireball to attack an enemy.
A pretty useless skill. Even though it packed a punch, it could never hit a slightly stronger opponent.
Just as Lin Qi dodged the fireball, a sword appeared in his field of vision. He leaned left and quickly raised his right sword.
Clang!
"You didn't think I was stupid enough to believe Candle Flame would actually hit you, did you, brat?" Klingel's face in Lin Qi's vision was twisted with rage.
Damn it. He deliberately used Candle Flame to block my view.
Lin Qi pushed Klingel back with both hands, then held his sword vertically in front of his chest in the same stance as Alden. "Roland Secret Sword, First Form—Sigh."
Klingel looked like he was facing a great enemy. He had seen Alden use this move against Green earlier. He couldn't see how Alden swung his sword at all. If that move came at him, he would probably be chopped into mincemeat.
Just as Klingel was on guard—
Bang!
A gunshot.
Yeah, right. There was no way Lin Qi could match Alden's level. His Roland Secret Sword was only LV1. He only knew a tiny fraction of it. He hadn't expected Klingel to actually fall for the bluff.
"Damn you, you little bastard!" Klingel had been focusing all his attention on defending against Lin Qi's Roland Secret Sword. He never expected the little bastard to take a cheap shot.
Klingel turned Envy into a flexible blade, planning to flick the bullet away with the tip of the sword like last time.
But the moment the sword tip met the bullet, he realized something was wrong. Why can't I knock it away?
Critical Enchantment! Bullets numbered three or less deal critical damage!
This was the fourth bullet Lin Qi had carefully prepared for Klingel.
Aside from the first shot he fired to stop Green from pursuing, the other two shots Lin Qi had fired at Klingel.
The purpose was to get him used to it. To make Klingel familiar with those guaranteed-hit bullets, to make him think he understood the Forbidden Object's effect and let his guard down.
And then came this critical fourth bullet!
To be safe, Lin Qi had also enchanted the bullet. A bullet wrapped in Gravity Thread would only change direction when met with a strong impact!
Although Klingel was a noble with little practical combat experience, the fact that he had reached Sequence 8 in just a few months proved his talent.
Just as the bullet veered off course due to the force of the sword tip and flew toward his eye, his Sequence 8 reaction speed and physical strength allowed him to make the right call in an instant.
"Damn brat! I'm going to kill you!" Klingel clutched his ear and screamed like a madman.
Damn. He dodged it? I only got his ear instead of his eye. The Judgement has only two bullets left. And there's still the Black Syndicate's second-in-command and Green...
What should I do now?
Enraged, Klingel charged at Lin Qi. The sword in his hand switched between straight and flexible, constantly changing and making it hard for Lin Qi to defend.
"Aren't you going to pick up your ear? You might still be able to sew it back on."
"You remind me of an adventure story from when I was a kid. The main character was a cop, and the big villain he caught had only one ear, just like you. His name was One-Ear."
Even as he faced Klingel's relentless, wave-like assault, Lin Qi kept taunting him.
"Kid, all you can do is run your mouth. After you're all dead, the entire Kissmark Town will belong to the Moer family!"
Klingel's expression carried both the pain of having his ear shot off and the wild joy of envisioning the future.
Crack!
The longsword in Lin Qi's hand was knocked away by Klingel.
"Haha, die, brat. This is the difference between Sequence 9 and Sequence 8. I'm stronger than you!"
Seeing the dawn of victory, Klingel leaped into the air, turning his sword into a straight blade and chopping down at Lin Qi.
He was going to split this damn brat in half!
But as he looked at Klingel in mid-air, the corner of Lin Qi's mouth curled into a smile.
Lin Qi's right hand, which he hadn't had time to retract after his sword was knocked away, was aimed straight at Klingel in the air. On the back of that hand was a conspicuous red gem!
"Fireworks!" As Lin Qi shouted, flames erupted.
"AAAAAAHHHH—" Klingel, now covered in fire, let out a painful scream. He dropped Envy and flailed his hands wildly, trying to put out the flames.
"Hmph. Futile." Lin Qi snorted coldly, picked up Envy from the ground, and without another word, cut off Klingel's head.
The head of the Moer family, Klingel Moer, was dead.
The cost of those Fireworks really is something. Lin Qi stumbled two steps as he thought.
Even though the power was huge, after using it once, he felt like he had been drained over and over again. A hollow feeling of being completely emptied spread through his body.
He forced himself to look at the other two sides.
Elaine was walking toward him, clutching her left shoulder. Behind her lay a corpse covered in bloody gashes. It looked like Jones, the second-in-command of the Black Syndicate, had died by Elaine's sword.
As expected of the protagonist.
The two of them looked toward the center of the battlefield, where Alden and Green were fighting. Their battle seemed to be happening in another dimension.
Even though Lin Qi knew it would be hard to interfere in this kind of fight, they were out of time.
Green had said that Sequence 7 priest was on his way. They had to take down Green before he arrived.
"Uncle, don't worry. The bullet won't hit you!" Lin Qi raised the Judgement and aimed it at the two fighters, shouting loudly.
Green knew the bullets from this gun could lock on. As long as Lin Qi was pointing that gun at him, he would be distracted.
"Good one, Isaris!" Alden exclaimed.
Lin Qi understood his role in his heart. He couldn't get close to the fight between Alden and Green. He could only try to help from the outside.
So was he going to fire when Green was distracted?
No.
He just had to keep the gun aimed at Green.
He wasn't planning on shooting at all.
As long as Lin Qi kept the gun aimed at Green, Green would have to stay distracted, always watching for a sneak attack from the shadows!
"Need to finish this quickly, Uncle." Lin Qi understood in his heart that even if an ordinary person trained their skills to the peak, they still couldn't compete with a Transcendent.
Comparing with the system panel, a Transcendent's health and stamina far exceeded an ordinary person's!
Even though Alden's Roland Secret Sword was very powerful, and he had the A-Class Forbidden Object [Rose of Truth], he still couldn't gain any advantage against Green.
There were gaps even between Sequence 8s. The gap between Green and Klingel, whom Lin Qi had killed, was bigger than the gap between Lin Qi and an ordinary person.
Suddenly, Green took a step back, dropped his sword, and pulled a small bell from his pants pocket.
Lin Qi didn't know what it was, but he knew it was most likely a Forbidden Object. He absolutely could not let Green use it!
Bang!
He fired immediately, imagining the bullet hitting Green's temple. At the same time, the red gem on his right hand flashed with an eerie red light. He added a flame enchantment to the bullet!
This was his strongest attack so far. He absolutely had to kill Green!
Ding—
The bell rang. The bullet that had been flying toward Green came flying back at Lin Qi at the same speed!
Lin Qi had no time to react. In his field of vision, the flame-wrapped bullet was flying toward him like the scythe of the Grim Reaper.
Thud!
Lin Qi didn't suffer any damage.
"Uncle!!!"
