Chapter 178: Help from another tribe
Shit. Ming Tao did not want to get up from the bed. Not when he was trying to get Mira to sleep and not when his entire body was nearly crumbling from everything they had just done but he knew he needed to stand up, otherwise that bird would do more than just wake Mira up. It would make a whole lot of noise and on a normal day, that would not be a bad thing, just that the bird has something tied to its foot and was at the Mighty Cheetah’s window.
Ming Tao kept on stroking Mira’s hair gently. "Darling," he called in a warm tone.
A heavy breath was the reply that came his way. "Mm?"
"I want to get up and go somewhere, but I will be back soon, I promise." Ming Tao stated. He kissed the back of Mira’s head and his fingers still threaded through her hair.
"Would you take long?" Mira murmured. She sounded like the only reason she was up was because he was talking to her.
"I am not sure, but I would do my best not to." Ming Tao said to her. He indeed did not know what was in the message the bird had for him and he did not want to guess all for it to be false so he told her the truth. Ming Tao had not told Mira his plans and the tasks he sent his people to do yet and he wanted to keep it that way.
His men may not have returned and Jia Hao may not have been found yet but they will make this work regardless. All Ming Tao needed to do now as find a shaman and tie the leaves strongly to Hye Yang which he was confident would be an easy task.
"Okay." Mira said, deep sleep was gradually closing in on her. "But I may not be awake when you come back." Mira yawned and shifted her body slightly on the bed. Ming Tao let his hand on her body come off without taking his other hand off her hair.
"I do not want you to be awake and wait for me. Please, go to bed. I will join you soon." He said to her in a calm tone. Mira hummed a reply, it was then Ming Tao took his hand off her hair and lifted his body up the bed. On the bright side, that bird did not make any more noise so he planned to take the bird with him to a different room.
Ming Tao dragged his feet on the ground and made his way to the window. The first thing he did was stretch his aching hand out for the bird to stay on. The bird flapped its wings and let its feet catch hold of Ming Tao’s arm. This was when Ming Tao led the bird out of the room. Once the door to his bed chambers was shut closed, he looked at the stone tied to the bird’s foot and untied it.
It was the same one that he used to communicate with Wei Jie.
Wei Jie left a message, the reply he had expected and he added something else. He would be coming to the cheetah clan soon.
Ming Tao’s eyes widened. He had expected Wei Jie to send a message through one of his beast people but the Alpha wolf was coming by himself in the flesh. That was good, but that was also a very risky ordeal in this situation.
Ming Tao was not going to send another message though, he would let Wei Jie come on his own and talk with him in person. Ming Tao let out a dragged sigh as a thought came to his mind. If Alpha Wolf Wei Jie was coming to the cheetah clan, then there old he no way for no one to not know about his arrival and the last thing Ming Tao wanted was that. The cheetah clan would want to welcome the Alpha Wolf properly and a distraction was not something they Ming Tao needed at this moment, not when he had stolen things from Hye Yang and not when having so many people crowding a place can lead to so many things being done in broad daylight unnoticed.
Ming Tao did not want anyone to know of Wei Jie’s arrival so he decided to send a message back to him. Mi g Tao let his claws draw out of his fingers and he engraved something onto the rock, at a small round surface.
’Come unnoticed.’ Ming Tao wrote. He did not want to add anything else to this small rock and he was sure that Wei Jie would understand why he wanted him to arrive unnoticed. Ming Tao would even prefer if Wei Jie arrived in a disguise. Ming Tao tied the stone back on the bird’s feet then used a finger of his other hand that the bird was not standing on to pat the bird. The bird seemed relaxed on Ming Tao’s hand and began to purr. This made Ming Tao smile as a dirty thought came to his mind.
He used a finger on the bird and it relaxed and gave into his touch, just like Mira had all day. "Get this message to your master quickly and stay safe. I will feed you on your next arrival." Ming Tao whispered to the bird. Now he pushed the door leading to his bed chambers open slowly and walked to the open window. He stretched his hand out and nudged his hand forward gently to give the bird a head start at flying.
Although Ming Tao needed Jia Hao to achieve his plan, he had decided to go ahead without him. They would find Jia Hao later, but now, the main focus was getting rid of Hye Yang as soon as possible. And they would do it in four days. That would be enough time for Alpha Wolf Wei Jie to travel to the cheetah clan and rest and for them to acquire everything they needed.
That would be more than enough time to not get Hye Yang suspicious about anything. He had not visited her since the hypnosis was broken and he was sure it was only a matter of time till the distractions by his people did not work and Hye Yang would notice something fishy going on. In fact, four days seemed way too risky now.
Maybe Ming Tao needed to go and meet with Hye Yang under a pretense. He hated that thought more than anything, but it seemed like the right thing to do.
Ming Tao let out a sigh as his eyes fell on the woman sleeping on his bed. He would not let himself be taken by Hye Yang again, not this time, at least now, he had someone and mini Ming Tao to think about, and this time, he would let Mira know of his plan first, there would be no more impromptu movement without involving his wife ever.
Ming Tao walked to the bed then got on it. He let his body draw close to Mira’s and held her carefully like she was some fragile little baby that could easily be broken if held wrongly.
A mumble slid into Ming Tao’s ears, as well as the slight shift of Mira’s body advancing closer to his. He felt her body heat immediately. "You came back early." Mira said in a yawn.
A half smile pasted on Ming Tao’s lips. "I did." He said to her. "And I told you to sleep." He added in a stern yet warm voice.
"It was hard to with all of that flapping." Mira said to him. Ming Tao blinked. He did not know why he thought that Mira would not hear the sound of a bird’s wings simply because she was close to sleeping. Even he would hear the sound of a bird flying if he was in deep slumber.
"I did not mean to keep you. Sorry." Ming Tao whispered. He put his hand back on Mira’s hair then began to stroke her gently.
"It’s okay." Mira said to him. "But you would tell me what that was when I am not the way I am." She added.
Ming Tao nodded. "Of course." He uttered. "I do not plan to keep it away from you, at least, not anymore."
Mira turned around to face him. Her eyes were closed yet a small smile formed on her lips. "Good skinny cat." Mira whispered. "You should go to sleep. I do not look it but I sure will recover quicker than you think I would."
Ming Tao exhaled and a smile formed on his lips at the same time. "You baby." He worded. A smack on his abdomen immediately made his smile vanish. Mira’s brows creased.
"Who are you calling a baby? I am your supreme leader." Mira worded in a stricter tone.
Ming Tao nearly laughed at the switch, he did not expect this at all.
"You are my baby, supreme leader, now hush and sleep." Ming Tao saw Mira’s mouth open so he immediately leaned lower to kiss her to shut her up. He took his head off. "Sleep." He kissed her again. "Now." He added.
Ming Tao replaced his mouth with his finger over her mouth. He knew that if he took it away, this woman would still talk. "Someone you know is coming to see us soon. And I need you to be in good health to be able to face him."
