Help! I Think We Summoned A Demon King

Chapter 70: Mummy!... I wanna go home.

Tavian had a secret; A secret that had kept him alive for years and allowed him to grow through the ranks, becoming one of the team leaders of Hollow Choir; one of the biggest assassin syndicates in all of Arleria.

Tavian is a coward. The best coward there is.

And his cowardice had always been his greatest strength. It allowed him to avoid situations that would have led to the deaths of many other assassins.

It also allowed him to build his way up the ranks in his organization from just a low-level Iron assassin to silver, and now a team leader.

But Tavian has been acting much unlike himself ever since he attained the realm of grandmaster. A certain boldness now preceded his actions, making him almost forget his roots as a coward.

Now, looking at his present situation, Tavian wished he hadn’t been so delusional about his own capabilities.

What now stood before him and the rest of his squad did not seem like a construct any awakened realm individual he knew of could ever hope to pull off.

The sheer magnitude of mana that would be required to manifest such a feat, Tavian wasn’t certain even a Transcendent realm being could accomplish such, and he’s never even seen one in action himself.

It seemed almost like a miracle conjured into life by the goddess Arleria herself.... If only he had not caught the depraved smile on that hero’s face before he gleefully watched their pathetic attempts at fleeing, he would have believed this was a divine miracle.

Tavian’s thoughts spiralled...

That young man being in the transcendent realm, or a theoretical realm beyond that, was absolutely impossible. Which would only mean that he has yet another artifact on him, allowing such a feat, just like the one that allowed him to ignore all the attacks from his master-realm underlings.

But none of that matters right now. Tavian could already tell, as he rubbed his palm on the smooth surface of the earth wall, that there was no escaping this. The precision in the establishment of the wall made certain that its surface was slippery smooth, so no one would even entertain the idea of trying to climb out.

There was only one way out of this place for them, and that was back through the maniac they had just run from. The thought sent a shiver down Tavian’s spine.

He had formed a capable team to do all the fighting on his behalf, so that he never had to get involved in such things and risk his life; but now it seems he has to get in the fray since technically, he is the strongest, and his ability was also the most destructive.

But what good would that do if the attack does not even faze the hero?.

However, he has an idea. As a proud coward, he has to depend a lot on his smartness, and his smarts would get him out of this dire situation.

"Gather up." Tavian’s baritone voice rang through as all the frightened assassins regained composure and ran in his direction, hoping from tree to tree.

Now, with all five in front of him, Tavian made sure to appear confident and reliable; that was the only way for these people to believe and trust him, and most importantly, do as he says and commands without question.

"It seems this hero has more up his sleeve than we had expected... who knew he would actually possess an earth manipulation skill. But there is..."

"Earth manipulation ?!" The alarmed voice of number five suddenly cut Tavion off mid-speech.

"Are you out of your mind, Dad?! " How the hell is this just an ordinary earth manipulation skill?!"

"First off, is this even possible to begin with ?!" Number five was visibly shaking as she pointed out the obvious while the other assassins nodded in agreement.

This was definitely not some simple skill, as their boss was trying to brush it off as.

"Myrra. What do I always tell you ?. Never call me dad at work." Tavion retorted as he turned to Myrra with displeasure.

He had adopted Myrra when she was about nineteen years old on one of his assassination missions.

He saw himself in her; she was just as cowardly as he was, maybe even more so. That’s why he chose to take her under him, and they’ve been living together as father and daughter assassins for close to five years now.

"Who was it who insisted we continued with the mission after I told them something wasn’t right, uh, dad ?! " Myrra lamented behind the mask, fear and anxiety causing her to panic.

"Stop calling me dad in public, Myrra, you know i don..."

"Is that really what’s important now ?!. We are about to fucking die, Dad!"

"Look..." she yelled as she gestured at the towering earth walls around them. "This is all that guy’s doing. We are so fucked!."

"What kind of father even grooms their daughter as an assassin! ....ah. I don’t wanna be caught by that psycho." Myrra plopped to the ground in a feigned exhausted collapse.

She wasn’t willing to go along with whatever her sly father was planning next. She knew him well, and she knew in hopeless situations like this, it’s best not to rely on the man.

The other assassins, already used to this dynamic, said nothing and just watched the drama unfold. Tavion was trying to force Myrria back up but failing to convince his cowardly daughter. In times like this, he wished they weren’t so similar.

Suddenly, another scene unfolded, which caused their already strained hopefulness in whatever plans they might come up with to about disappear completely.

Just like the first impossible feat of the earth wall suddenly surrounding their entire escape route....

This time, every single tree in their line of sight that lay within a two-kilometer radius of the surrounding earth wall began to disappear one after the other.

No.... It wasn’t just that they were disappearing... the earth beneath them was spontaneously opening up, and swallowing these giant trees whole.

And in less than five seconds, the entire radius had turned to a flat landscape of surrounding earth wall... and a now visible Zorat in the far distance, looking straight at the group with a sadistic expression on his face, and hands folded behind his back.

Myrra looked at all this from where she lay... and also at Zorat in the distance, standing like a reaper come to collect their souls.

Her heart was nearly beating out of her chest, as cold sweat poured down her forehead...

"Ah... I see now," she muttered.

"We have... we’ve fucked with an actual god."

"Mummy!... I wanna go home!"
